- Today i show you how I like to make my go to pasta sauce recipe. It's using mainly canned food, but when i add my secret ingredient it takes this meal to the next level.. Sorry about the humming of the lawn mower in this video, this is what happens when you live in the suburbs!

Just used this recipe for my spaghetti dinner today! I turned out GREAT!! thanks greg!! 👍
best sause is 28 ounce tomato sauce 2 tsp minced garlic, good handful of parsley, basil, and Italian season, 1/2 cup red semi or sweet wine, 1/4cup of sugar to treat tomato acidity, and slow cook for 5*6 hrs.. rest over night. 2nd day, 1/2to 1 ilb of mild italian sausage (great value - walmart) Slow cook for 4-5 hr. and serve on pasta with parm cheese.

I made your sauce for the first time the other day and had some friends over for a spaghetti dinner. They nearly died! They couldn't believe I made this sauce all by myself. They really enjoyed it. I also kept them guessing all night about the "secret ingredient". Never did tell them! But honestly...love this sauce!!

I put 2 squirts of tomato sauce in my pasta sauce and a tablespoon and a half of raw sugar and at the end sprinkle over some Italian herbs ,main ingredients,mince meat,onions,minced garlic,bolognese sauce in a jar,tomato sauce,Italian herbs,raw sugar,pasta and Kraft parmesan cheese,mine is very Aussie and a tad sweeter but it works lol,love to try your version though.

I'm glad he added anchovies, which gives it an addicting umami flavor. My mom used to do the equivalent, except she used fish sauce instead. Spaghetti sauce without either of them just tastes so bland in comparison. You can also use Worcestershire sauce if you don't have either.

Wow, I've been making spaghetti for years trying different things along the way, but adding beef stock (bullion) NEVER crossed my mind. Added some to my bolognese tonight and it turned out amazing, everyone loved it. Really upped the intensity of that umami flavor. Best tip ever!

hey greg it looks super tasty, just saying if you add the anchovies in before you even add the meat they will be 100% mushed up so you can't tell they're in there also to remove fat from a pan easily you can just move the burger to one side of the pan and the fat will goto the other side and then you can just soak it up with a paper towel or two and throw it in the trash

Anchovies make sense. It's an Umami flavor thats perfect for sauces.

My go to is similar but a grated carrot with the onions and strictly white wine. Got to try the anchovies .

Grego that looks great pasta sauce i would also add instead of the beef cube, Vegemite to get the
St umami MSG taste and im seeing allot proof online that one has to add the pasta water to the sauce to thicken after looking back do you agree? I got to say many many years ago if one is rushin to make pasta sauce because you want it in 15mins dont because its going to taste acidy, very grrr i still remember coming home from high school and my brother and his GF would make a tom sauce in 15 mins it tasted acidity and garlicky my taste buds haven’t recovered your right the longer i the pan to simmer the better.

Did this again last night but with 1.5 kg of meat n tripled all ingredients. Froze left overs which amounted to 10 meals for 2. Favorite recipe ever!

Greg, don't drain your pasta, use tongs and allow a little water on your plate, it helps with keeping your sauce & pasta moist whilst eating. it will make your pasta 10/10.

I love spaghetti and sauce but I like it with grated cheese on top. But I also like a certain type of cheese and I like to freshly grate it on top. The cheese I like is parmigiana reggiano.
Mmm good old Dolmio, I like the spicy one. If you love anchovies then puttanesca or rude sauce as mum sats. Anchovies, olives and capers in your fave sauce and cheeeeese

I now take a shortcut when making spaghetti. When the sauce is done, I add more liquid, usually stock and throw the pasta right in. Cook until done and serve! It's a one pot type meal...saving washing up etc. Try it, you will be happy you did.

I confirm the anchovy in this sauce, that's how I have been doing it for a few years now.
But I think that white wine tastes better than red in this sauce, especially if you let the sauce boil for a few hours.

Try cooking your onion with your hamburg. Always comes out nice for me and saves the step after cooking the meat.

That looks like a jar of Anchovies? Adding a pinch of sugar, honey, etc...really helps balance everything out too. The wine probably reduced but I love my sauce a little sweet.
Sounds like a good idea the anchovies got a very salty flavour ; I add sundries tomatoes to my spag bowl😋
