The only downside of making a Foxbody-focused RUclips channel is the fact its a niche topic. Thankfully its a relatively popular car. If LMR can get over 100k subscribers, I think you can as well. Keep up the great work. The best thing about a Foxbody is the community and you keep it alive. Thank you.

I noticed brew2L kept trying to correct himself at the terminology of the pieces on these door panels. Since most often people that don’t know usually get the correct nomenclature wrong. So, just if anybody is curious here’s the correct names of everything as a trim & upholstery person would refer to them. The large scale of interior panels or pieces are called “trim panel” or their named after their function or mounting location. 1. The staples are 1/8” - 3/16” - 1/4” depending on the thickness of materials they need to go through. 2. Metal at the top is the “border plate”or “top plate”. 3. Any center piece within the panel is the “insert” or “appearance panel” usually fastened with staples or aluminum tabs or adhesive. 4. The cardboard piece is “trim paneling” or “panel board” usually 1/16” - 1/8” - 3/16”. 5. Top black material is the “border” or “top cover” usually fastened with adhesive, staples or crimped. 6. The leather is either “accent” or “main” usually cloth, vinyl, leather, valure, pleather (plastic imitation leather) or actual plastic. 7. The bottom piece is the “valence” or “lower border”. 8. The thin strips sewn to the edges of the carpet or vinyl are the “binding” or “rope cord”. 9. Handles are handles. 10. Pockets at bottom of the panels are “accessory pockets” or “lower/upper pockets”. 11. Top seal is the “window trim seal” or “upper seal”. The some of these names are included on the dash. 1. “Upper facia”, “lower facia”. 2. “Appearance cover” or “emblem”. 3. Dash is a “dash pad”. 4. Lower dash parts are “lower valance” or “lower dash panel”. 5. Panels at your feet are “kick panels”. 6. Rear quarter pieces are “quarter panel” and center pieces are “quarter panel insert”. 7. Triangle shaped panels by rear glass are “sail panels”. 8. Roof panel is “headliner” go figure right! 9. Rear dash is the “package tray”. 10. Any padding behind a panel or under your carpet is referred to as “juke padding” or “sound reduction”. 11. Any foam padding behind any panel is referred to as “scrim foam”. 12. Appearance covers at the bottom of the door on the carpet are “sill plate”. 13. Front, middle or rear vertical trim pieces named after the points their mounted to, “A pillar trim”, “B pillar trim” & “C pillar trim”. 14. All trim that holds up or mounts the headliner is “headliner trim”. 15. Lighting at the sides above or at shoulder height are “dome lights” or if individual switches are used “map lights”. Usually all trunk panels are “trunk lining” or just referred to as “trim panel” usually named after their mounting location or function.
Who needs new door panels when you can just buy supplies and refresh your own. Nice How to Video. It takes a lot of time and patience to do such a awesome job. Its just amazing how the Calypso Cobra is coming together. Nice job on the panel refresh!
House of Dula video was a great help to me doing mine. Don't forget the lock grommet when removing the vinyl. I did my rivets with the heads on the backer board side and used rivets with the big heads. The hold the backer really well. Map pocket panels are MUCH easier than carpeted! Great looking job!
Use the aluminum backup washers on those blind rivets so you get some support on backside of that soft board. Hanging right next to the rivets you grabbed at the store. You’ll get proper squish and hold much tighter over time 👍🏼
Well...i ain't gonna lie! After watching this ,I would rather hand port and polish a set of heads! Lol! Suddenly 300 dollars sounds like money well spent! Who ever makes new door panels deserves every bit of that 300 dollars! Lol!!
Great job! I did watched House of Dulla restored his door panels. Every bit of info helps. That is something to look forward to when I get my future car. Keep the videos coming. I won't this car to be the best Cobra clone, to me and everybody.
I appreciate the work and you are right on time for me. My door handle broke a couple weeks ago so I had to remove my panel to fix it. Well it's so rotten that the push pins will not stay hooked in so my panel is flopping around. This is just the fix I need
Nice video and door panel looks money! You must be reading my mind because this is another project I need to do soon. You should have more SUBS because you bring value to the Foxbody community. I really appreciate your videos!
EXCELLENT video!! Also Foxcast media has a video that covers the alternative fit for the sagging door map pockets. Put that with this video and you have great content!!
I work at a small car lot detailing cars and everything he just showed is absolutely correct, the SEMS coat works great and dries fast and very hard to fish eye or run, light coats and it will look great, nice job on the door panels!!!!!!!
Good how too. Have 3 foxes and had others over the years and aside from putting new map pockets in never really knew or thought about deconstrucring the panel like that. Came out nice!
When I paint carpet sections before it’s totally dry I take a clean rag and pretty much buff the carpet. It makes it I little softer to the touch when it’s dry.
What I really like about this is... you show how easy (Even if its time consuming) it is to pull that apart.. you could always go back with leather on the door panel and glue and staple that on there if you wanted to spend a little more and do something custom. VERY nice step by step!
Been watching your channel for a bit now, got a 89 gt vert daddy daughter project that’s gonna need revisiting your vids! Your motivation, dedication and commitment to whatever your doing is addictive. Thank you!
Detailed enough B, great job! Yes, I seen both GFunk & Dula dabble with these and they do look like a PIA! But as you say, $30 opposed to $300? I say go w/$30👍 That interior is starting to look 🔥
Man thanks 🙏 a million BREW2L for going through step by step on how to attack the door panels. Mine are definitely needing this treatment and this will help out tremendously. Good stuff for sure.💪🤘
I wish I could have done that to mine but one had a small rip by the door handle mine cost over $500 I looked at some of the cheaper ones but decided to go with TMI door panels
Great video. My door panels are warped at the bottom from driving through a super heavy sideways rainstorm. If I can't flatten them with steam, I'll replace the fiberboard. Thank you for posting this video
Im not sure about these boards..but back when i did mine they wasnt treated..so i sprayed front and back of the boards with scotch guard to prevent any type of soaking during cleaning or in rain.
Car looks AMAZING! And the topic is on-point - was just telling my buddy that my doors will be my winter project. Oh and PS - I watched the Ads - cause you need to get paid!!! Great work as usual!
Thanks for the vid! I attempted mine last week, but the vinyl was already cracked before I started. 😣 So I tried to make chicken salad outta chicken poop. Figure it was worth a try for how cheap they are.. And smoke grey panels are on backorder.
I apologize now. I didn't catch where you got the pre-cut out board at? Thank you for this video. I will try this out. Just need the cutout board to order.

Where did you get the door to window felt liner trim for the top of the door? Do you have a vendor or part#? Great video of the breakdown and repair to the door panels
Thanks, not really a good fix out there IMO but if I had to try to repair it I would try epoxy on the back side of the vinyl first to try and hide the glue.
That's a lot of work to replace the decayed particle board. Any thoughts about reinforcing it with fiberglass mat instead? The rest of the door panel could still be cleaned/dyed with a new border on top, no?
I cant find the parts on LMR. Do you have a part number or link ? I'm fired up. I need to redo my doors. You are helping more than you know. Thanks for all the content !!!
Hey man, it looks like you have the aftermarket Foxbody digital instrument cluster, but I thought it came with white LEDs? Did you just swap the white LEDs for green? TIA!!
