Finally!! A video that cuts to the point. Thank you. I noticed you put the tubers in laying down. I was putting them up and down. Great video. Will try it your way!👍🏻
You're welcome, Mary! Glad I could help!
Hi Howdy there, I was going to prop-a-gate my own oxalis thanks for your work
Hi! You're very welcome! Glad I could help!
Bom dia! Looks absolutely 💯 and very nice work. See you again 😄😄
Good morning! Thank you very much!
Thanks a lot!
You're welcome!
Happy eating.
That's a pretty plant. I have a version of those that, it grows here everywhere. I could label it invasive because you have to dig down deep and get those bulbs out as well as the stems. They spread like crazy. They're just green, not that pretty purple color. Merry Christmas!!! Have a wonderful day🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
Thanks Shirley! That is a good point. If I lived even a zone farther south, I would never put these in the ground. Merry Christmas to you too!
Graciassss ❤
De nada!
I did not know this! I have grown these before and then I just let them go. I do have some I am growing inside but they are green not purple. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome! Glad I could help!
My oxalis plants also purple and butterfly 🦋 version inside the leaf.
They are really super easy to care if you know only few things ❤❤
I agree. They are pretty easy to care for.
Good morning Jim. I have the green version and it grows like a weed! Every year we try to get rid of them but they always come back the next year! Enjoy your day and stay safe!
Thanks! Good morning! Yes, in warmer climates, they are a weed. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Thanks!

Whale I like the video? I love it ❤ what temperatures can they withstand outdoors?
Pretty warm, but they don't like full sun.
Merry Christmas, Jim. Is the blue and white container in the shape of a gigantic coffee cup? Best Wishes - Larry
Thanks Larry! Yes, it's seen better days, but it is in the shape of a gigantic coffee cup. Have a Merry Christmas!
I might have missed it but what month did you replant the bulbs? And do you break off the bulbs that grow from the original bulbs and replant those in the smaller pots?
I planted them after the last frost date, which is May 1st in our area. You can break the bulbs apart if you want, but you don't have to.
Thanks for the video. What do you feed them with to help them grow?
I really don't feed them much. I usually start with soil that has nutrients for them to use. If I was going to fertilize, it would be with a water soluble balanced fertilizer....maybe once or twice at the most. Most of the time I don't fertilize them at all except for what is already in the soil.
@@MidwestGardener Ok thanks. They do seem to do fine without fertilization. We have 2 pots of them inside.
You're welcome!
The bulbs that were transferred into the little pots, do they grow more bulbs, I mean, do they multiply in order to propagate into more pots?
Yes, in time, they will make more bulbs. Each spring, I always have more than I need to put back in the pot after I add new soil.
Hi! My oxalis has never gone dormant, maybe because I keep it in a the same semi sunny spot & keep watering it? Should I let it go dormant? It's at least 4 years old & continues to grow healthy even though the winter.
Hi! If yours is doing well, I would just keep doing what you are doing. I let ours go dormant in the winter because I just don't have a good place for it in the winter.
I had mine going for 2 years constantly in a somewhat small pot on my table but recently overwatered and drowned them & had to dig it up to replant the seeds gonna go for 3 years this time
I live in Illinois, USA. Can shamrocks be planted outside? Let go in the winter..... and they will come back? I'm thinking of planting them in pots outside........... that get the afternoon sun. Would they survive that?
Not sure what zone you are in. I've had some come back here after being outside all winter in the ground. We are in zone 6b.
Is this species of oxalis grown as an ornamental or for eating? As others have mentioned, I have plenty of common native oxalis growing here, in a fairly wet and shady part of zone 7a. They are edible but not exciting enough to plant on purpose.
I grow them just as an ornamental. I need to do a little more research before I try eating some. In your zone, I don't think I would plant them in the ground. They can even survive some winters in the ground here.
To my knowledge oxalis triangularis is entirely edible, including the tubers! I've not tried the tubers yet but I eat the leaves all the time
Do you water it when the plant goes into dormancy?
I bring ours inside before the first freeze. I stope watering until the next spring when I take it back outside.
The leaves aren’t triangular and it’s 2 tone purple, is there different types of triangular purple oxalis? Thank you
I'm not sure.
Could you dry these seeds and plant them for the next year?
If you are talking about the tubers, I don't know how long you could store them.
How often do you water?
I don't have a set watering schedule. I water when it looks like it's starting to dry out.
can Oxalis triangularis be propagate through seeds from flowers ?
That is a question that I've never thought about. Ours produces flowers often, but I've never noticed any sort of seeds.
Do you order from bakers creek?
Yes, I do get some of my seeds from there.
@@MidwestGardener I've grown their fish pepper. Great ornamental plant, pretty productive.
@@vincecammisano5256 Yes, that's a fun one to grow.
@@MidwestGardener thanks for the videos, looking forward to the next.
