Happy Easter/Spring! 🍀🌷🐣 9:24 The Miltonia is my favorite because of the flower color combination. I got my first Miltoniopsis (Edie Brown) a couple of weeks ago after attending the Nutmeg Orchid Show on CT. It has three flowers and it's mostly fragrant after watering. The new Den. Peng Seng I got at the same show from J&L Orchids came with buds, but it has already dropped some bottom leaves that had some black spots and now one of the top leaves has the same black spot and the leaf is turning yellow. I don't have much experience with Dendrobium orchids, but from what I've read and learned from watching videos, they shouldn't be fertilized until after blooming. It might have been tricked into blooming and now it's adjusting to the cool temperatures I have on the windowsill (average about 66F).
Happy Easter to you! Miltoniopsis are so beautiful!I gave mine away as my summers get very hot and I didn't want to set it back too much, but when it bloomed, the fragrance was out of this world. You'll get the hang of dendrobiums. The Den Phals aren't too bad but some of the species and nobiles have particular care.
Great blooms update, thanks for sharing. I really liked your first yellow and white striped cattleya,. She looks very healthy and cheery! Your dendrobiums are lovely too! The kingianum hybrid could be delecatum since I know for sure that Berry oda is not fragrant. Happy growing 😊
Wow, the Solar Flare is putting on an amazing display! I've been looking at that one lately...maybe I'll have to snag one. ;-) My C. Caribbean 'Orange Bowl' bloom is nearing it's end... I'm going to miss that amazing fragrance once it's over. My Dendrobium Thyrsiflorum finished it's bloom as well. It didn't put on too great a show this year as it's in desperate need of a repot. Thanks for sharing your blooms, Nicole! I'll be emailing you soon about sending you a division of my Orange Bowl, as I'' be cutting that one up shortly.
I'm so curious for the fragrance of that orange bowl! I'll be dividing and repotting things soon, so I'll reciprocate with something nice and fragrant as well :) Happy Easter friend 🐰
Hi Deanna, I am new to your channel. So I have a lot of videos to catch up on but specifically I have a Francis Fox "Sun Spots " for 5 years now that has never bloomed. Now it has been punished, a yard guy blew it off the shelf and I was gone so I didn't find it for at least a week and it was almost totally dried out. Then next year a great wind came and did the same thing. Then our over zealous squirrels just pulled it up and threw it down. Inspite of all that it grows vigorously. But no blooms. I had it in Leca self watering. After 3more years I have mounted it on a tree limb found in a lake. This is the last location for it, live or die here. It is putting out roots and seems to be happy here, shockingly. It grows pendulums even with my best efforts to make it grow upright, which is the main reason for its falling off the shelf. I live in the Houston area, so very humid and hot in the summer but can be cold in the winter on occasion. I bring it in and out as is necessary. I don't have the room for a greenhouse outside. I fertilize it once a month and water it in between with aloe Vera water. I think that is everything I need inform you for your help. I am just so disappointed as I wanted to see it's beautiful blooms. HELP please.
Also , I was struck by some sort mite that dessicated my 50+ collection and reduced it to 12 and this orchid was passed by. It is 4 times as big as when I bought it.
I'm so sorry to hear about losing so much of your orchid collection. I don't have this orchid but many growers say it's tricky to bloom. It sounds like you're doing all the right things. Lack of blooms often times is lack of proper light, but if it's getting adequate light sometimes the orchid is a bit slow 😭
Hi Nicole. Lot’s of beautiful orchid blooms. I’m so glad it’s spring. Today it’s low 70’s, but it’s supposed to get cold again. 😢 I discovered this week watering that Cattleya Peckhaviensis has a sheath. Finally after waiting a few years. I hope it blooms. Have a wonderful Easter. 🥰🐣🐰
Good morning dear! Everything is looking great! Yea warm weather brought out my bugs too! Fun fun! I have a bunch repots to do also! We will get to them eventually 😂
Paulaaaa ❤️ Happy Easter my friend! I'm going to do my best to get all caught up on the repots. Now that it's getting warmer I'll work on getting you those tetraspis keikis and hopefully can get an extra division of jungle eyes, we'll see how it goes when i get it outside of the pot. I haven't forgotten 😘
Thank you! We'll know for sure when it blooms soon. I'm so excited! It was such a slow grower and I've had it for over two years so I'm really stoked about this one!
Calcium and magnesium helps the leaves build up nice structures. There's calmag in MSU fertilizer, but I have been fertilizing lightly this winter and want to give my orchids a bit more than than they have been getting. Check out Rick L's youtube videos on the topic. Thanks for watching!
Hi Nicole! Loving all your blooms this month! We have some of the same Dens blooming! I heard you mentioning that you may divide your Miltonia Sunset and I wanted to put it out there that I would love the opportunity to buy a division from you if possible? Would you consider that? Please let me know. Thanks!
Thank you! We will see about sunset, half of the bulbs are not in the best shape so I'm not sure how much I can salvage, will see when I chop it up and let you know! Happy Easter ❤️🐰
Beautiful blooms this month! Can you share some details about the Cal-Mag? Which do you use? How often and which types of orchids? I water my orchid collection with NYC tap water and fertilizer with an MSU fertilizer. I also have slow release fertilizer in most of the pots. My plants are doing ok but I feel they're missing something. Thanks in advance!
I have been so bad with using calmag lately but I used to add a little bit (like 1/4 strength) to the MSU fertilizer weekly and had good results. I'll probably introduce it again but monthly, full strength according to the instructions. I find that it helps the leaves grow better. Learned a lot of this from a channel called "RICK L" Orchids. He was the GOAT of this haha. He can probably explain best in his videos, but I will say that I have had excellent results with adding it.

Nicole, a miltonia sunset é linda!!! Que planta legal, que flor bonita! Uma curiosidade: ela é perfumada?
I got it from a hobbyist grower in San Diego. She gave me a keiki from her plant 3 years ago. Unfortunately she left the hobby! She got most of her stuff from Hawaii and SVO.
Hi! Im a new orchid grower, and absolutely love your channel 😊 I have a question (if anyone has any thoughts): I recently soaked my first Leca (about 20times, over 3 weeks to be safe!). I use Distilled water PH 5.5/5.8 (because my tap water is AWFUL). My Leca (soaking in distilled water) reads as PH7 (30PPM). It reaches 7 almost instantly after changing the water. Would you recommend to lower my water PH below 5.5 to counteract this bump? I understand that orchids prefer 5.5-6.5 so I'm a bit scared to leave it, but also to go too low! 😅 Any ideas greatly appreciated, Im a bit lost as to the best thing to do! The leca I am using is CulVita Hydrokorrels for reference. Thanks!
Thank you for watching! As your at least 5.5 you're ok! I stopped changing the PH of my water and everything is ok. If your leca water is 7 and your water is 5.5 it will balance out.
I am looking to purchase some mini orchids. I have to buy online because only big box stores sell orchids around here. Can you recommend any online orchid sellers? I guess I would want mini Phalaenopsis and something else not too complicated to grow that does not take up a lot of space. Is there a particular time of year that is best to purchase these online? I live in NYS and am getting that spring itch to start buying plants but I would like to buy from someone trustworthy. I have four orchids already along with many other types of plants so I don’t have a huge amount of space left to fill. Two of the orchids that I have are full size Phals that bloom beautifully. I also purchased two mini Phals last year. They have grown roots and leaves but have not spiked this year as my regular size Phals have. I don’t know why they are not producing flowers but I am still hopeful. Your orchids bloom so beautifully!
Thank you! I made a video about a year ago on my favorite online nurseries. Feel free to check it out for some good recommendations :) You can start ordering your orchids around mid april i'd say since it's starting to warm up, it's most dangerous when temps get to freezing. Happy growing and thanks for watching!
Thank you, I felt it and it was a little scary but all is good thankfully. 30 seconds of weird trembling but no damage and nothing fell, things just rattled
Such gorgeous blooms!!! That solar flare one is amazing! And the colors on those Dendrobium blooms are so bright!! Absolutely amazing!!
I love the fragrance on that one the most! ❤️
@@NicoleDeanna oh and it's fragrant!! That's amazing! The best of everything then!
Happy Easter/Spring! 🍀🌷🐣

Oi Alexandre! Sim e perfumada, so um pó, não muito forte. Adoro esse amarelo
@@NicoleDeanna Feliz Páscoa para você também!!!
Hi Nicole, I love the Miltonia sunset! I have been looking for that for over a year I think. Do you know a grower that is selling it by any chance?
I don't :( it's super hard to find! I was lucky to get a division from a friend ❤️
That could definitely be Berry 'Oda' but I'm curious how that plant came to you since that hybrid was never sold in the US.
I got it from a hobbyist grower in San Diego. She gave me a keiki from her plant 3 years ago. Unfortunately she left the hobby! She got most of her stuff from Hawaii and SVO.
