The book was horrendously racist and painted asian men in a bad light. Gave my trauma when I was 20 yrs old. We're not all sad depressing mfs, asian men i know are optimistic, hopeful, interesting and intelligent. Hopefully this will be better

Saw this tonight. If you liked the original Optic Nerve comics, you won't be disappointed. The movie follows the graphic novel beat for beat, with just a few exceptions that make it work better as a screen adaptation. The Alice-Ben relationship feels more authentic in the movie. Debby Ryan is great as Sasha and Justin Min is great as Ben Tanaka. I think Miko was miscast. That should've been Lucie Zhang. They don't really make smaller, indie movie like this anymore for theatrical release so enjoy it while you can.

Saw this yesterday and I loved it! The actors are all wonderful in their roles, and make you feel as if you know them in real life. The main character, Ben, is definitely someone we all have dated, or at least had as a friend.
as a huge fan of the graphic novel and of Randall, i'm cautiously optimistic. this def seems to have a late-aughts/early-teens 'indie'/semi-twee vibe. fingers crossed.
This film made me feel strong emotions and look at my own faults and relationships in a way that I wasn’t emotionally prepared before watching it. Specially when I dated a girl that looked just like Sasha, and I was treated in a similar way too. Shit this really made me feel shitty, but now that the film is over I took my lesson from it, I need to look in the mirror and grow up. And just let the broken hearts feeling go and enjoy life and forgive people and let them go, and fresh new beginnings. ❤
Finally a leading role for the church leader in Beef and the adopted superhero orphan. Still don't know his name, but I remember his eerily half smile.

There is gaining traction on awareness of a multitude of complexes, personas, etc., but this type of life in postulation is, I would dare say, the least understood and at the same time the most special. At the very least, my insight concludes that it is the most lonely type of life.
Finally a film with Asians as leads that doesn’t involve them back to the “motherland,” China, Singapore, or whatever, where they are just American. Having Asian leads doesn’t mean it always has to be about their culture. Are any of Liam Hemsworth’s movies about him going back to his roots in Australia? How about Arnold Schwarzenegger to Austria?

I’m so upset! They clickbait me with Ronny chieng on their front cover on Netflix 😩 was honestly going to watch it because of Ronny only but sadly he barely had 30 seconds in it 😢 Movie overall 6/10. Just about some dude who’s unsupportive with his girlfriend and her career and tries to get laid by any white girl he socializes with. I fell asleep halfway through the movie cause it was boring me lol had to binge it the next morning 😂
