      That. I noticed that since my first week playing this game. It was because I used to randomly holding down to make the cube jump over and over, especially whenever I'm frustrated or tired because can't beat a level. And also, because of frustrated and tired of a level, I found the secret gold coin right under the "coming soon"

    0:32 ok so spiders do in fact move straight up and down, its just that the frame rate for the playtest lines is 30. So somewhere in between that slanted line you must have clicked, but since the spider cant be in two places at once, it didn't render as teleported until the next dot was made, which when connected to the previous one, making a slightly slanted line. If you do a much shorter teleport you'll see the line is even more slanted because the two dots are closer on the y axis but the exact same distance on the x axis

    Ive seen people point out the thing about the spider not going straight up a lot, but its actually not true, the reason it looks like that is from how the editor draws the green line, but the spider itself does go straight up and down.

      no, it doesn't.
      It doesn't go, cuz your fps is not infinite.
      As soon as the spider hits the ground, it will apear at the next frame, and the distance between teleportation frames, is indeed not 0. So the spider don't travel perfectly vertically.

      @@Malam_NightYoru This is what appears to be when you look at it frame by frame, but that doesnt mean its what actually happens, if you die by teleporting up into a spike, the point you die at will be at the same x-value as where you teleported from. Thats proof the spider does move straight up and down, we just dont see it that way when looking frame by frame.

      @@mainconman2201 in the teleportation frame you're actually invincible, you can hitbox test it, cuz i don't have megahack v6 or anything like it, and use a 20fps~30fps test, the hitbox teleportation is not perfectly vertical.

      When I die I stay at block 17, but when I dont die, I teleport from 23 to 27 because of the low framerate. If it actually moved me 4 blocks during the teleport, I wouldnt have died.

    Fun fact: double speed has the highest jump height due to Rob noticing major jumping height differences only on third and fourth speed which with pervious settings were probably jumping so high they'd die on ceiling

    The spider doesn't teleport perfectly upwards because you are constantly being pushed forwards, so in the frame you teleport, you are also pushed forwards a bit

    Most of the values would be similar on different refresh rates, that's why their are bugs for each of them and why you can do things on one, for example, 60, but not on 240.

    The *formula* is A² + B² = C², this is as simple as one leg of a triangle squared plus another leg of a triangle squared equals the hypotenuse squared.

    00:36 the editor line just travels at 30 fps instead of your framerate, so the next frame is a bit offset foward as you traveled more. that bug gets erased when setting the line to the same framerate as your fps

    This video is helpful because I'm planning on making a GD remake to fix all RobTop's mistakes: unfair star rating system, inconsistent hitboxes of different gamemodes, using floating-point arithmetic in places of the code where fixed-point is faster and more accurate, etc. I also wish RobTop upgraded the password reset page to use HTTPS, since HTTP is *very* prone to hacking. I hope he's AT LEAST hashing the passwords and not storing them as plaintext, otherwise we're doomed

      @@ARandomOSDever that makes more sense, but in that particular case, xmas challenge would take the average experienced player about the same amount of time to beat as a normal 2*. Also the lightning road is a bad example to use to represent the game's rating system because it's so outdated, obviously if it was released/rated during 2.2 it'd be 7-8*

    I love this video so much. Thank you for demonstrating these geometry dash logics in gameplay. I make a bunch of hard levels in geometry dash with weird and unique ways of gameplays and sometimes it doesn’t work because of physics and logic in the games mechanics

    the spider not moving perfectly up thing isnt weird though. It's a weird effect of the trail from the editor just taking a point every frame and drawing a line between them
    If you reduce accuracy of the trail, the spider seems to more diagonally

    Pretty sure the spider does move really straight, its just that the green trail updates in a janky way. You can check this by using a mini wave and spamming, the trail ends up all messed up

    0:34 they actually do, it’s just that the editor generates the editor trail by checking the player’s position at 30 hertz, then drawing lines between those positions. Megahack has a fix for this.

    Spiders do actually go instantly up and down in the games code, but remember the player always moves right. Therefore, since after playtesting the game draws lines between points that show where the player was at in each frame, it will not show a straight line.

    The spider does move perfectly up and down; it's the editor trail moving at 30 frames per second max. It just connects point A to point B, so it won't be perfectly straight in the editor.

    One thing i noticed, if you go normal speed, 1x speed, you can jump over 3 spikes, however if you go in a 2x speed, you can only jump 4 spikes. 2 : 1 = 2, 3 x 2 = 6. So you were meant to jump over 6 spikes since you go twice the speed. So as 3x and 4x. In 3x, you were meant to be able to jump over 9 spikes. In 4x, you were meant to jump over 12 spikes. So as the orange speed portal(I don’t know what it is called but i think it is called 1/2x of 1x speed) you can jump over 2 spikes, but since it is half speed, then you supposed to only jump 1 and a half spike.

    I was actually thinking of using the slope bug to make a sort of randomized level but 2.2 came out shortly after which made it pointless due to the random trigger.
