I can agree with ur points honestly. I have tremendous love for the show and sometimes the hate is unnecessary, but other times it’s justified and I have no problems with the criticism even though I don’t agree with it! I think season 4’s school festival arc was pretty good! The reason why the school held it was because I think they wanted to put everyone’s mind at ease. I remember some of the members of class 1A were questioning why they should hold it with all the villains attacking. I think it was a nice breath of fresh air even though it was a filler arc, I mean, we got introduced to Gentle Criminal and La Brava who are great villains(?) tbh! I loved ur commentary though! I also agree, Denji is a great main character! And yeah Deku needed time because honestly it was realistic, he was only in middle school at the time of meeting All Might. He was and is still just a kid taking on way too much. But he worked through it and honestly he’s still my favourite character.
This is one of my fucking favorite comments of all time😭 u not only showed love for me which I’m so grateful for, but u offered ur opinion and even proved how good the concert arc really was. And I agree now, I realize I was a bit harsh on that arc in the video but it truly did serve a great purpose and I’m glad u and others proved that to me. Really hope u stick around because this comment is just seriously awesome.
@@AntiKash Aw thank you so much! Like I said, I really do respect the points u made (unlike Trash Taste or whatever their name is-) and yeah we also got to see Eri smile which was amazing for her development in seeing the good things in life. Keep making more vids ur amazing and I’ll definitely stick around!
@@AntiKash also another thing about the concert arc is meeting gentle and la brava which helped deku set his mindset about wanting to know his villains as persons to see if they have any redeeming qualities or if they can be saved instead of just considering them the ones he has to beat up as a hero
Cant agree on the dance being used as an example for friendliness/not as good? when one of its main points was to make an abused child survivor learn how to smile again, how her trauma didn't just go away as soon as she was saved by the heroes, same thing happened with Todoroki in season 2 and Gentle's backstory showing us more of the different sides of MHAs world and society, how 1 bad day can cost you your life, being shown again with Twice later, the different angles on heroism, the world and how it affects its characters is what has kept me interested in mha
This is an amazing point bro and an angle I completely forgot about with Eri I think you’re referring too( I don’t have great memory😭) seriously though appreciate you pointing that out and I completely see that, great point, I stand corrected.
@@AntiKash yeah, I actually really liked that arc! It's especially fun since my siblings and I occasionally throw a few quotes from that bombastic duo back and forth just because those two were so iconic to us. XD
@@d6421-e9c Season 5 was the best?? ok...don't get me wrong season 6 is good and i liked the ending but i was expecting an epic fight between Izuku and Shigaraki but i guess he's not prepared yet. Nothing tops All Might, he was a true pillar so yea season 3 is the best!
4:02 my immediate reaction to Trash Taste proving their title and that take. I’ve always hated the argument about ‘All Might should’ve died when he defeated All For One’ because that’d be antithetical to one of the major themes of the series. Horikoshi is not shy about making the world gray, just because it looks good the surface doesn’t mean it was built on solid soil; All Might witnessing the collapse of everything he built up and learning what cracks he let slip/accidentally contributed to is such an important story point for he himself and Deku.
First... notice Deku really hasn't cried since the Bakugo rescue? Yeah, most people don't notice it. Dunno why. Second... much of the latter seasons as well as the current state of the manga makes me think Horikoshi had approached Shonen Jump with an idea for a superhero story, but was told, "No, make a High School story." So he did... but eventually dropped the actual school side.
Exactly, everything feels like a build up to this season and now we’re truly getting to Deku becoming a hero, it’s really hard to appreciate without watching up to date, that’s why the show gets so much hate.
I dropped My Hero back when I was in my freshman year of highschool and I'm about to finish my first year of college. I picked the show back up at the finals arc and binged it straight through my spring break and I don't regret it for a minute every episode and Arc just got better and better as I kept going. Needless to say I'm glad I picked up this show agian.
I was really losing hope on mha after seasons 4 and 5. But man the way they delivered on season 6, with all of the call backs from previous seasons, bringing moments big and small back to give them a deeper meaning was genuinely impressive considering I didn't even like some of the moments they used when I watched them the first time. The execution for the payoffs really surprised me and had me appreciate moments I didn't like at all in previous seasons. I am definitely impressed and am now looking forward to the next season.
I think there is also something to say when it comes to tone and setting. Anime like Jujutsu Kisen and Chainsaw man have dark tones, and hellish settings. The world isnt a nice or easy place, in Chainsaw man the main character is literally in debt and homeless, as low as one could go. Then you have Deku, has a decent family situation, lives in a world that has very low crime rate, with hundreds of super heroes everywhere you look, even if a villain pops up they get instantly knocked down. It hard to expect that these two vastly different anime follow similar paths. You cant expect Deku to instantly lose everyone early on when its almost impossible for those kinds of tragedies to occur in the setting in the first place, same as you dont expect a peaceful era filled with casual moments to be the norm in Chainsaw man, they would be rare and very short. The reason season 6 hits to well, and gives so much payoff is because we had those quiet moments, because we never the peace to end even as the cracks slowly built up. Arcs like the school festival have multiple pay offs, some of which will come later and I wont spoil, but one already being that it was a happy moment, contrasting to now, it no longer feels like that could ever happen again, which further gives weight to the current situation. There is a lot of fair criticism, its not perfect, but there is more to what have seen then just, a happy anime with no stakes and unchanging characters.
100000% fam, I just wanted to compare them originally to show why people don’t have the patience that you need when it comes to deku. He’s not like yuji or denji who immediately are likeable but just takes some time to really see how great he is.
@@AntiKash that's a bit weird to me because itadori and deku are very much alike and I've seen alot of hate for him as a character. Meanwhile it's sad to see ppl dislike deku over him being emotional, like they don't have stuff in there life that messes with they're heads. But they love the drama of the todoroki's like that's not the same thing. Or that to shoto deku is his hero
@@jordanpax9735 I agree. I love Deku, I always have and I always will. I don't understand why people dislike his crying so much. He faces terrifying people on a regular basis (it's traumatising) and he is just a little kid and *despite* being terrified, he *still* is so active and saves everyone. That is the definition of bravery. He gets stuff done all the time so what if he cries? I agree with your point about how people act like other people have no problems and why they can't see why an author would choose to show a character like Deku to inspire people to do better. I know Deku was an inspiration to me at the very least.
Bruh, don't even remind me of that video of Trash Taste. It was so clear this anime was just beyond their comprehension in every single way. I mostly like this video, but I also have something to say. What I really want to talk about is the Cultural Festival and why it's easily a top 5 best mha arcs. This arc obviously appeals more towards people who love the series and the characters instead of the casual watchers, but that is why it's so unique and interesting. Sure this arc's climax is not a big fight, or an exam like every other mha arc (Exept for Villain Hunt), instead it's a concert. This arc also develops class 1A as a whole, particularly Jiro, Aoyama and Bakugo. What I rarely see talk about tho is how this is one of the most important arcs for Deku. In this arc Deku learns many valuable lessons : - Like the fact that saving a person physically sometimes is not enough, you also have to help them mentally. Eri is a six year old that has only ever known pain, fear and guilt in her life, of course she would still be traumatized after the Overhaul arc. This arc's stakes are not hinging on the physical well being of the characters, but on an emotional level. - Deku improves his training with OFA by learning to control the 20% burst he unlocked in the prior arc developing a new style with the Air Force gloves that incorporates ranged attacks. - Deku gets closer to Aoyama after realizing the reason for his weird behaviors. - but most importantly, Deku confronts for the first time an antagonist that he can understand and sympathies for and wins his first ever fight by himself. Gentle Criminal was a mirror of Deku and without this encounter his goal of trying to save Shigaraki or his understanding of Nagant's backstory in season 6 could never work. I think I've made my point clear enough. Or not. What else? Nighteye's death starts Uraraka's ultimate goal of wanting to help heroes, which let's her help Deku in Joint Training and when she stands up for Deku and convinces the civilians this season. Gentle and La Brava are reflections of how society fails normal people. Gentle wanted to become a famous hero, but since he wasn't a skilled student he failed multiple times and, determined to fulfill his dream of becoming famous, he turned to crime, a dark reflection of what Deku could have become. La Brava was always shunned by others because of how her quirk makes her act, which even drove her to have suicidal thoughts and parallels beautifully with Toga's backstory. We finally see UA as a school, not just a couple of classes. We get every interaction ever with class A and that moment, when Jiro finally makes Eri smile, it's just so powerful. The collapse of society after the war hits us so hard only because we have seen what we have lost. This arc is so goated❤️
Great point fam. Genuinely I was way too harsh on the arc, I also have bad memory 😭 not to use an excuse but that’s why I tend to miss out on the true greatness of that arc, appreciate u on that take and for the support thank you❤
@@AntiKash I truly get why on a casual watch some parts of the series feel underwhelming, then comes season 6 giving payoffs to most plot lines since the start of the series and everyone then goes "so that's why that mattered!". I get it, not everyone has to be obsessed like me and watch the series nonstop and notice all the details from the beginning. I think a good part of the anime fandom simply underestimates this series. They get blinded by the initial surface level appearance of the story and don't think much about the more introspective arcs. But under the surface it's a whole lot of complicated characters with really great emotional depth. The series starts fairly light, but it gradually evolves into a more complex narrative while still being true to itself and not turn into a different kind of story. It all starts with Stain and Endeavor in season 2. Endeavor is the first hero that the audience has negative feelings about to say it lightly, and Stain is the first Villain that makes the audience question hero society. Then in season 3 Bakugo gets tons of development, definitely showing the audience he is not just a prick. In season 4 we get the duality of the Overhaul arc and the Cultural Festival (light and dark, both needed to achieve greatness) , and Endeavor and the League start their long journeys of development. In season 5 we get Hawks, which is the perfect character to rappresent the tone of mha, plus the Villain arc and an Endeavor arc. And season 6 is the climax to everything, a long battle that completely changes the status quo and an arc focused on Deku's struggles while society crumbles. It's a gradual process that leads into a completely bonkers season 6, where almost everything gets tackled and is so full of tension that you just watch, baffled by what you're seeing. This series is just too peak dammit!! 🗻
@@silveratlas2706 ur just spitting facts, u said “not everyone has to be obsessed like me” but no, we need people like you because u could explain what dumbasses like me😭 miss on, in all seriousness I was just unjustfully harsh on the concert arc, I’m glad ur able to describe the anime in such detail because that’s truly the reason it was made and deserves that type of appreciation.
@@AntiKash don't say that! You have no idea how annoying the fans like me can get. I 100% prefer to hear out people's genuine opinions, even if I don't agree or think they are being naive, than hearing another manga reader complain about the blue sky in the background every episode.🙄 I GET IT, the adaptation could be better, I DON'T CARE, stop being petty and go watch Demon Slayer if you're so disgusted by the backgrounds in this series. And I agree, the anime fumbles sometimes, people just take it so seriously tho🤦
Not to mention one of the best opening songs in anime history. We had an especially wet winter and I actually played it in the car driving in the rain. Amazing.
some people dropped mha but i didn't. It became my favourite show when Deku was fighting that muscle guy and it was exhilarating, same with all might vs all for one. As for the festival arc, I really enjoyed how Class 1A put together a music festival for Eri. Some people say this arc is useless or unnecessary but I think it was a inspiring way to help Eri smile because she was taumented by Overhaul.
I was one of those people that thought anime was weird and iq as unaware of some of the great ones & mha was my first anime. I really enjoyed it from start to finish
I think the past seasons in retrospect are better than what ppl say and some of the things that made it so good could be overlooked on a first viewing. I think the meaning behind the story was developing with the story which is kind of cool. I like how mha also shows similarities to our own society
As a relatively older anime fan, the criticism towards MHA reminds of me of the criticism towards Naruto when it first started. The "old generation" back in the day complained about every single thing Naruto did differently than Dragon Ball. Now, the generation that watched Naruto is doing the same by saying MHA is too childish, etcetera. And guess what? People said the same thing about Naruto and look how beloved it is today. I think most criticism towards starts from people having set expectations for the series and then getting disappointed when it doesn't meet them, instead of judging the series for what it's actually doing. Case in point, neither Denji nor Yuuji have an actual defined goal in their series, while Deku wanted to be the number one hero fron the first episode. But because Deku cried, he's forever a crybaby for some people while Yuuji and Denji's flaws are ignored because they are "cool"
Very true. To this day so many hate on naruto but i just don’t see how people do once they see the full story. Same with deku, yes both are way kinder than expected but that’s the point, it’s actually the harder choice, both could easily be evil or just a heartless hero, but they promote kindness and go through plenty of development through their respective shows.
For sure, it gets misconstrued in the general media, but from the source material and the anime it knows when to be dark and when to be light hearted. A very good balance imo
Something I noticed in the earlier season of MHA, after rewatching the entire series all of the problems that the heroes and society is facing, had the cracks shown in it from the beginning. Horikoshi expertly has shown us the pros and especially the cons of the Superhero Society but we only pay attention to the positives, because that’s what’s most appealing to us. Like the series opens up to Deku and a crowd of civilians watching a superhero fight like it’s WWE matchup. No one takes the situation seriously. It’s more like a show to them. We see how some of the heroes are more like celebrities, more worried about their fame and the superhero chart than serving the public. And when we get to Stain, we think he’s crazy and completely wrong. But everything he said is the most truthful commentary about that society, we just didn’t listen because his method to combat it was entirely flawed, but his message was right. MHA has probably some of the best world building around in both bold and subtle touches. Everything the heroes are facing now, you can see hints of it heading in that direction from the first season. That great entertaining show that the superhero society built up was going to come crumbling down and now we’re seeing it. Also the Festival Arc a lot of people seem to misinterpret the purpose of this arc, but if you look at the series as a whole and what happens afterward it’s very obvious. You have the essential, this is a lighthearted arc to come after such a dark arc with everything with Eri and Overhaul. You also have in this arc, Deku and Class 1A trying to save Eri’s smile. Yes, those are the easy stuff to point out. But the main thing about the Festival Arc is, this is the last time we get to see UA as just a regular school and the last bastion of light. I mean think about what happens next we have the Classes Fight, we move into My Villains Arc and then that’s it. The world goes to shit. And this arc is the last bit of pure fun before all of the heaviness and death start to pile up.
Extremely well said, my hero had a lot of us fooled and people who judged too early look like fools. There was a lot of setup and amazing execution from the start up to this season.
Yeah for real. I’ve been saying this for years. It’s good to see some people watch the series develop and understand why the way things were like before
Good video. I won’t talk about the Culture Festival arc because so many comments here already have a detailed explanation on why it’s also one of my favorites arcs in the entire story. And frankly, I’ll say this as a manga reader- MHA will be going all out on the action from S7 to beyond. I genuinely yearn for the manga chapters when Deku and his friends could just be teenagers having fun and not out there getting traumatized. What I will talk about is your comment about how Deku just “needed time.” Because I think that’s one of the keys behind MHA’s story telling, more so than most other Shounen, particularly modern ones. I love a lot of Shounen, and a consistent theme across almost all of them is that every arc has a particularly big antagonist/goal and the end of the arc is a massive kick ass battle against the antagonist or to reach said goal. And I love that. MHA is a little different because while it follows the same standard formula, for the most part the stakes start out low and only get more serious over time. It’s the kind of story that lays its foundation little by little in very subtle ways. So Deku won’t be facing off against big name villains, he’ll be doing mundane things like intense sports festivals and school assignments. There are fights and villain encounters, but nothing as intense as some early villains like Arlong and Crocodile from One Piece. But then the villains and the social conflicts are growing in the background and becoming more and more of a problem for Deku. Until eventually building up to the big pay off- the final fight against AFO and Shigaraki. What that means is that for the really invested readers (like me), they will pick up on all the little things in the story or just thrown around in extra materials as a “minor detail.” And then they’re rewarded for being patient and keeping those details in mind. On the other hand, for a casual reader expecting a more traditional Shounen- MHA will come off as more slow-paced and not as intense. Especially in the first couple arcs. And that’s a fair opinion to have. Slow burn stories are not for everyone. But honestly, I love MHA because of its way of setting up its story. I love everyone in the cast and enjoy the little things Horikoshi does with them. And in turn, I have so much fun seeing all those little things being used to address the bigger themes of the story. It feels rewarding, even if it’s a slow burn.
Thank u🙏🙏 and yup culture festival arc I was corrected😭 gladly tho I want that, cus I’m not perfect in any way. As for the “needed time” I’m glad u liked that point too because to me my hero as a whole is that, concert arc included, it’s so easy to immediately judge and say is bad or childish etc but the more you watch the more you see how great it is. Truly exposes the people who give up on it so early as well.
I must be in the minority for thinking season 4 was the best the show has been. Season 6 is a very strong contender for that top spot though. Still, S4's first half, dealing with Overhaul and working to rescue Eri is probably some of the most emotionally gratifying shit I've seen in media. The school festival was a perfect way to round out the arc before it, and honestly it was a nice breath of fresh air to not have the second half of the season devoted to yet another tournament arc.
Yeah season 4 is actually my favorite season too, well it was anyway but hard to say that after season 6 because it was so great as well haha. Season 4 also ended with Endeavor vs Hood fight which is one of the best fights in the entire anime imo, such an underrated season.
My Hero has always been one of my favorite anime of all time and of course still is to this day💯 I agree the hate is outdated too. If you don't like the anime that's totally fine 👌🏿but it isn't cool to shame others for enjoying it, there's clearly something to like and season 6 proved it! I'm hyped for season 7!
This season 6 was the best so far and the one who saved my hero academia from death, this season is so incredible that i readed all the manga, the op and the end were fire, and aslo the other season were fine Conclusion : mha is my favorite anime, and deku is one of the best MC for me
Long time fan of MHA but I have to admit for a while I wasn’t bothered about keeping up to date, wow am I glad I caught up in time for the season 6 finale! Total return to form! I know we’re only looking at a season or two rest of the show as Horikoshi is looking to end it soon-ish, but I am super reinvigorated. Have always personally loved the less serious moments but the more heavy hitting arcs like S2 and S4 part 1 have a special place for me, having pretty much all of S6 like that felt awesome. Bring on S7!
I'm so happy to know that there are people who love MHA as much as I do or are at least starting to enjoy it, I've seen so many who hate this show just because they either hate Izuku or think this show has a terrible plot, they can hate the show if they want but what I don't like is how they blame Horikoshi for why they don't like it, he works so hard to create such an awesome and emotional story yet there are people out there who say it's bad writing but they still watch it
(Honestly this video was amazing and covered why I stuck around for My Hero Academia!!) MHA seems like something where you should just "Trust the process" and that is true for the viewers, but after rewatching it I realized that Horikoshi actually put some foreshadowing and effort wayy back in season 1 and has a psychological element to make us see what the public sees. We think Stain is wrong and don't pause to see what the villains are like, but we also don't care if the heroes are doing the right thing either.
YOURE AMAZING. And exactlyyyyy, so much was built up, from the heroes to the villains, that is so easy to miss on a casual watch. And the fact that MHA was always so well animated, there were times where my brain was just off and I missed so much. Glad this season proved me wrong
Love this show & dropped a tear or 2 in season 6 because I think it’s that good. I just finished the ep where Deku returns to school after fighting his friends. I know the show is called My Hero Academia but after this story arc I’m ready for Deku to finish school & become a hero full-time!
As the anime that got me into anime, I have a soft spot for MHA personally, further exemplified by the fact that I started watching this show when I was at a rock bottom point in life, and this show helped me out of that. Yeah, there seems to be loads of toxic, unwarranted hate and negativity towards it recently, whether it’s manga readers freaking out if so much as one pixel is out of place, or just plain bandwagoning, or even for the fandom (personally, it makes NO sense whatsoever to hate a piece of media over its fans) As for the school festival arc, loads of comments already went over it, but it’s one of the most misunderstood arcs imo. I actually enjoyed its chill, laidback vibe. It’s one of those things which I can watch on a rainy day with a snack and enjoy myself. As for the large roster of characters, some people would see that as a weakness, but I was pleasantly surprised with and love how this show handles it’s characters, they all get at least one moment to shine, whether it’s Jiro at the school festival, Tokoyami at the cavalry battle, Shoji, Tetsutetsu and Kendo at the summer camp, Ida’s encounter with Stain, Kirishima, Amajiki and Mirio, in the Shie Hassaikai arc and I I could just go on. Even one off villains and their backstories in the Saving Eri arc. As for Deku, I actually like his steady progression, feels more realistic and as for him constantly crying at the start of the series, it makes sense for him to start off frail as he lived in a world where he was regarded as inferior for being powerless, and constantly bullied for it, and that’s not gonna be undone overnight. Side rant: Trash Taste really lived up to their name right there. Never liked them personally, and what they’re generally about represents everything I hate about the anime community. The anime community often just devolves into screeching ‘mId this, tRaSh that’, praising one thing by criticising and attacking everything else, or just being overly judgemental in general. I often wonder to myself “can’t we just calmly enjoy whatever we want?”. Then again, it’s the Internet
Great comment again, u Pretty much summed it all up at the end. It’s funny at times to be “___ is Mid and ___ is trash” but we’re losing actual critique and also taking away from people like you who have personal connection and justifiably love this (great) anime known as my hero. Hopefully the internet recovers from this one day.
Literally the only good take they have (going off of this first impression alone, as I've never heard of 'em before)?: *"I see you got that Legoshi statue in the background there"*
What piss me off the most abot this people is that they always put their eye in the popular animes right and ignore the rest like nothing. They say great things about jjk, spyxfamily and chainsaw, vut they say nothibg about other underated stuff like bungo stray dogs, trigun stampide or even mob psycho because... "they didn't broke the internet". God dammed they even talk about garbage like rent a girlfriend and sword art online like shitting on them is more worth than actually recomending underapreciated good ones.
Very well done video, MHA is still underrated but I'm glad that this season has brought a lot of people back and reminded them why this show is worth sticking with. As for Trash Taste, I love them but I zone out whenever they talk about MHA. Joey and Connor clearly don't understand or respect it, which is whatever, but makes it irritating when they still try to talk about it even though they aren't caught up.
@@Dr._Atom Nah you havent been keeping up, the hype is mostly gone since season 3-4. Only actual legit fans stick with the series now and majority of the anime community calls it "mid" as if saying something is mid is a valid critique.
I see the concert as a last chance to enjoy the happy go lucky aspect. "Get your laughs in now because the tone ain't coming up frome here! Things are about to get real!" That kinda thing.
Tbh, I really love this show, and I’m super happy it's made such a strong comeback, since it’s always been one of my personal faves. I’ll admit that there’s like, one major character I’ve grown to dislike (both in the manga and anime), but aside from that, I love the vast majority of the series. It's got problems, but it really is one of those shows that really clicked with me. Great video! As a sidenote, while I agree with a fair amount of the criticism for seasons 4-5, those seasons do have some of my favorite stuff in them. Season 4 has the culture festival arc, which a lot of people in the comments have been talking about, and season 5 really made me realize how much I relate to the Todoroki family subplot. That being said, I thought they were good overall, but I definitely get why people lost a bit of interest in the show at around those times. But that all just makes me more thankful for season 6.
Couldn’t have said it any better, my hero is at its best right now but at the same time the earlier seasons didn’t necessarily warrant hate, though like you said I can understand why some people lost interest. They’re missing out though!
@@ashhabimran239 It’s a bit of a controversial take, but I’ve really grown to dislike Enji’s arc. I think it started out amazing, but it unfortunately took a huge nosedive for me after the first war arc. The Todoroki family subplot as a whole remains great, but his arc has become super botched imo. (If you’d like, I could go into why, but I wont do it in this reply since it’s a little long) I still think there’s time for it to stick the landing, but I won’t hold my breath for the time being since I find it pretty lame. Luckily I’ve been loving pretty much everything else though!
I’m sorry but when did people’s whole bodies exploding in season 4 considered for kids, hero stories are not only meant to be dark but also to inspire people idk where everyone thinks that everything has to be dark and edgy to be a hero story it’s this mindset that makes it hard for people to make these types of stories. 1 they’re teens so they haven’t experienced the trauma of being a hero in the earlier seasons. Also I guess you also didn’t know that they lost some like season 3 they lost the stability of having the Pilar of peace. Even though he won the fight the heroes lost in the long run. Hence season 6
I don’t know if you missed a part of my video, but I don’t think it’s a kid show in the slightest, I understand you probably saw that section where I said that, but this FULL video is about how wrong I was(hence the title) about the show. It’s so much deeper than I ever expected and extremely realistic. I understand ur misconception but I genuinely love my hero and understand that as a whole from season 1, is not a kids show and has extremely mature themes.
And since when the said exploded body still have the skin and the suit intact and came back later to help the good guys in the war without even a single burnt mark on the body? Yeah, this series is devoid of logic
I honestly enjoyed the friendliness in most parts. So it isn't just constant tragedy after tragedy. That can get tiring too after a while. I personally see the fun as a good to an extent. Because it's one thing to say what all this doom and gloom takes from the main cast..and a whole other thing to SHOW what the doom and gloom is taking with its presence. It's almost like a window into how life would be if only everything was normal; if only things weren't so bad. Which, if done correctly, can make the action and stakes even BETTER. Because, again, you have a sense for what a normal life is SUPPOSED to be like.
Great point, the “friendliness” makes the tough points even tougher in many ways, because of attachment to the characters and even humanization of some, so very true.
@@AntiKash In a book that I've now published, I made sure to use this a lot. A lot of small, fun little moments between the two main characters.. so that when one of them died, it was even more obvious how the other was affected. Because he could no longer enjoy such things without thinking of his old friend. And since they had done so much together, he felt so closed off and severed from the life he once lived that he ended up running away from home to escape it. That death and later other MC's depression simply wouldn't have had as big of an impact if the slower, seemingly pointless moments where the two were simply having fun together hadn't happened, or had just been mentioned and brushed over to get to "the good stuff."
Now don’t get me wrong, MHA is actually my favorite anime ever. But I have no issue with those giving criticism for the show as long as it’s valid. Even I have some criticism for the series. Both anime and manga. And yes this series definitely gets a lot of unnecessary hate. The hate is because of the fandom, it’s the cool thing to do or people just simply don’t like it. But despite all that, in my opinion it’s definitely a very good series with some flaws here and there. And you definitely hit the nail on the head on how I felt about trash tastes takes video on it. As for the culture festival arc, I honestly think it’s the most under-rated arc in the show. Now I’ll give three reasons why I really like this arc. One, I won’t give out spoilers, but let’s just say one of the characters in this arc does in some way play a role later on in the show that was written very well and became one of my favorite chapters for the series and gave me a new perspective on that arc. Two, it gave us Gentle Criminal who I think was a well written, with a good back story and was a villain with a good motive. And the main reason was because I remember Nana Shimura said this. “A hero isn’t just someone who saves people, they save a persons heart too.” And I really liked how the culture festival arc was a continuation of the overhaul arc, having us see the heroes save Eri physically from overhaul but now save her heart, mentally from overhaul, being able to smile and live like a normal child. Showing there’s more ways than just physically saving someone in order to be deemed a hero. Overall though this was a good video to see, keep up the good work.
Bro this is yet another amazing comment, you guys in the MHA fanbase are the best. All I want is people to watch my video and give their personal opinion and that's exactly what you did. You and others were able to prove how important this concert arc was and I was wayy to harsh on it and stand corrected. Thank you for this beautiful comment.
@@AntiKash Thanks, means a lot. The fandom does give us a bad rep for being a toxic cesspool at times. But fortunately there’s fans like you, me and others in this comment section who genuinely appreciate the series.
the concert arc was actually good because it not only developed side characters (mostly jiro), but it was also there to help out eri and help her character (as we see the shit she went through right before that arc) and it also strengthens deku as a character and his mentality, such as in the gentle criminal fight it really brings out the question of "why are villains, villains" by showing gentle and la brava two broken people who honestly don't want to be bad, completely broken by society
this was especially good as the next season shows us the villains back stories and goes even further into this idea, and the gentle fight finally brings this ideology to deku as from that fight and every fight foward he constantly tries to understand villains and even help them, as before he would just beat them. he also resonates with gentle as both of them couldn't meet the societal norms of what a hero can be, gentle tried to be a hero and failed, deku was quirkless and was already broken from society, if deku didn't meet all might he would've probably gone down the same path as gentle
Yea, I definitely take back what I said about the concert arc. Characteristically that arc did a lot, it was also needed after what Eri went through. I think I was so stuck on action packed shonen and previous seasons of my hero to really see the importance of gentle and the overall concert arc. Nonetheless I’m glad I learned of that now through smart people like u 🙏
Thank you for being such an understanding fan! It's so hard for me to convince my friends that MHA is not as bad as they think it is. Maybe I'll show them this video to convince them.
🙏🙏🙏appreciate the love fam and same back to u. I completely get that, some of my friends are completely against it but I’ve managed to convince a few 😭😭hopefully u can too
I'm glad you like this little gold nugget of a show, but allow me to splurge to the haters that are out there, including your past self. I can't figure out how much hate you guys are holding up your arses, but the only thing wrong with MHA is the fact that people are thinking it's just another heroes v.s. villains fighter anime. It's actually a very realistic show with basically spot on psychology, and nobody understands that, even some of the hyper fans. It perfectly captures how the minds of a super powered society functions, with the hierarchy of the people closely matching our own, but ours with money instead of theirs with quirks. But people are too focused on the facade to look behind the mask of the series, too biased to look beneath the coverings and see the abyss staring back at them. I am not a hyper fan, who makes their life revolve around MHA, I am a true fan, one who takes a step back, and actually looks at the show, empathizing with the characters, and actually think "what would I do with super powers?"
God, that beginning brought me back to Green Goblin's speech in Sam Raimi's Spiderman... "[...] But the one thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail, fall, die trying [...]"
So trueeeee bro, highkey horikoshi was inspired by spiderman(dekus black whip) and yea that exact quote, so many people wanted to see deku lose or even endeavor lose in the show just so they can blast them on the news etc, but that’s the reality of being a hero
I was a manga reader, I know it can be slow but I've read a lot worse so I didn't judge much. I understand the faults and the only way I can describe the show and manga is seeing the world through a kids point of view. You randomly get the dark moments but then everything goes back to normal. Now though its all grown up and starting to get more serious, thats how I personally see it as. Also helped with how much I wanted to see different things be, ya know, animated! I want to see this in motion because it'll be so much cooler bro
I have 2 issues with this video. 1: The first issue has already been addressed by some others, but to repeat, and expand on, the school festival arc was super important, it was a combination of a few things, first, is the obvious. The whole point of the festival was to introduce some much needed light and joy into the life of Eri, who has endured so much, as well as the UA students themselves, who have endured a lot, between their own backstories, often filled with adversity or tragedy, and their time at UA, with the constant pressure, training, and villain attacks adding to it. 2: You have a very surface understanding of Deku's character, in the same way that a lot of others do. Deku isn't a "crybaby." To use an example, I saw something about 2 years back that involved a short analysis of why he cries, and what they found was that the majority of the times he cried, it wasn't due to sadness, fear, or any negative emotion, it was due to joy, which in and of itself is hella sad. He constantly breaks his body and puts himself in incredible danger, he is left bleeding and broken, his body permanently scarred, but that's not what makes him cry. It isn't the pressure from the legacy of OFA, it's the very few moments of genuine joy he feels in the story that make him cry the most. And when it isn't that? Well, let's review the concept of Deku's character. You take a kid who is naturally small, nerdy, and weak, and you give pretty much everybody else in that world superpowers. You crush his dreams, give him a deadbeat father and a neglectful mother who don't do shit to help him, and you pit him against one of the most egotistcal, rotten, and powerful characters in his formative years, subjective him to the MHA equivalent of severe racism, because while the comparison sounds wild it's the closest thing I can compare it to, he has his dreams repeatedly shit on and crushed for the next 11 years of his life as everyone he has ever cared about either treat him with nothing but constant cruelty, or just completely turn their back on him. Everyone besides the person he's idolised his entire life. And on the same day that he's told to kill himself by his once childhood friend turned abuser, attacked by a villain out of every kids nightmare's, you have that one shining golden idol, the only hope he has left, turn out to be a shell of who he used to be, and then confirm for him the one thing he's been told all his life, that he can never achieve his dreams and he should give up. And what does he do like 20 minutes later after being left on a rooftop alone by the idol who just took away the one reason he has to live? He risks his life to save that very same abuser, who has made his life a living hell. He is left in the dirt, lectured by the police, and told to his face by the abuser, who he did in fact, save, that he didn't need his help. Deku's story is about overcoming adversity in a world that has hated him and treated him with nothing but cruelty for all his life, in this way, Horikoshi took the main character and used him as a plot device, until he was needed. Putting him on the backburner in favour of showing the cruelty of the hero society that has made so many villains, and then using Deku as an antithesis to those very same villains. Through hard work, continuous sacrifice, and borderline suicidal behavior, he has become the kind of selfless hero that they all aspired to be, with his body showing the tale paved in blood. Sorry about the rant on that one, I get really annoyed seeing creators especially act as if he's just some wimpy crybaby while praising other characters who simply never show their negative emotion, favouring repression and angst until they end up exploding on everyone around them. To quote a comment on a video about Deku "You bullied him until her turned emo" Which is spot on. People hated on him and hated on him, even in the show itself until he became a repressed unfeeling mess.
To be fair. Deku’s dad isn’t exactly a “deadbeat” at all and not by choice. They said he works abroad to provide for his family so he must have a good job that he literally can’t be involved in his families life. Yet, it still left Deku fatherless. And his mother wasn’t really neglectful or didn’t help him. She was still a loving mother who cared and worries for Midoryia’s well being. Once Deku got a quirk she fully supported him and helped him make his first costume. What she did do though was completely give up on her sons dreams once the doctor said he was quirkless, which is the normal way of thinking when it comes to a quirkless individual. But besides these two things everything else is spot on. It seems you do understand the character of Deku.
THIS THIS THIS THIS THISSSSSSSS. THANK YOU FINALLY SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS LIKE PEOPLE REALLY DONT GET HIM IT IRRITATES ME SO MUCH. Sorry for caps but like seriously he has gone through so much and nobody cares when they watch it. Like the festival arc. Are we just gonna forget he just fought basically a mafia boss who can DESTROY MATTER WITH HIS FINGERS who was TORTURING and *REPEATEDLY* KILLING a small girl for god knows how long. But “festival arc is too happy.” Like wtf lets these HIGH SCHOOLERS have a break. And i hate how everyone just loves todoroki because he doesnt cry. Like i *love* todoroki amazing character and great character development and his power is absolutely sick, but APATHY AND TRAUMA DOES NOT MAKE U COOL YALL ITS ACTUALLY REALLY SAD. Everyone keeps saying they like the new deku better but i just feel bad for him he’s under an imaginable amount of stress rn and nobody sees that or cares they just see “oh deku faster stronger dont cry he cool” gets on my nerves man…
@@t.j.1584 To make the point that she was indeed, neglectful, 1: We've seen Bakugous bullying get physical, we've seen Deku covered in bruises, probably burns too given the explosive nature of the damage, yet she never pulled him out of that school, or did anything to protect him. You can say, "He probably hid them" And while that's fair for the later years, I doubt he knew how to hide bruises and burns at 5, and Bakugou has been beating on him for that long. 2: She does jack shit. She has no job, relies entirely on her husbands money, the only thing she's ever done was housework and cooking, which while difficult, are only about 40% of the work of being a mother, and the other 60% revolve around looking out for her child's physical and mental health. 3: The mental aspect is wild as well, the fact that Deku is as jumpy, paranoid, and just generally scittish as he is in the earlier seasons especially show how much he did not get help in that. 4: You say she's been a loving mother, but what proof do we have of that?
@@aeronoctem103 1. To address the first point. There’s two things that could’ve happened that has happened before in the series or both of these things happened. One, Bakugou threatened Deku to not tell anyone he’s been bullying him including his mother, which we’ve seen him do before when he threatened Deku to not apply to U.A in middle school. Or Deku just comes home and tells his mother “I’m fine” which we’ve definitely seen before that Deku always says “I’m fine” when he physically and mentally isn’t, we had a whole arc about that. Heck IRL kids will tell their parents “yeah school was fine” or “yeah, I’m fine.” when really they’ve been getting bullied and aren’t fine. And Deku can definitely come up with excuses for the burns. He’s already shown to come up with a excuse for how he now suddenly has a quirk and told his mom that he was a late bloomer. 2. To address the second point. Like I’ve said before. His mother could be concerned just for Deku to tell her “I’m fine” like he always does even though he’s clearly not, like kids do IRL. And when she notices something she ends up questioning it. Here’s some dialogue from S1 after deku thinks he failed the entrance exam. Inko:“Izuku? Snap out of it. Izuku! Why are you smiling at that fish? Should I be worried about you honey?” Deku: “Oh, sorry no. I just spaced out for a minute.” And immediately right after we see Deku spaced out on the couch lost in his thoughts extremely worried that he’s not getting into his dream school. But instead of confiding in his mother about how he feels right there, he’d rather keep it to himself. Sometimes it’s not always the parents fault, it can also be the child’s fault for not opening up. And she may not work, but that’s probably due to Hisashi Midoryia being payed good money from his job, leaving Inko to watch their kid.
@@aeronoctem103 As for his physical well being, it’s already been shown TWICE mind you, that she tries to look out for that. First was when she tried to pull her son out of of U.A in order to look out for his safety. Here’s the receipts. Inko: “Yes, about that, I read the letter. And I won’t allow it.” Deku: “wait what?! But yesterday you said-“ Inko: “I thought about it since than. But I’ve changed my mind. Izuku has admired you for so long, even though he never developed a quirk as a kid. And than miraculously one suddenly appeared. But ever since enrolling into U.A, my child just keeps getting hurt. Just look at him, do you know about his arms? If he injures them anymore he might not ever be able to move them again. I saw what that man did to you on tv, and as a regular citizen I’m so thankful for your bravery, but as a mother I was terrified. Izuku wants to be just like you. But if he follows your path, his future will be filled with blood, so I’m sorry. But he’s my son. Forgive me Izuku. Back when you were quirkless, you were always so happy just watching the heroes do there jobs. Maybe it was better that way idk.” Izuku: “that’s not true.” Inko: “honey, I told you I would support you but that I wouldn’t stop worrying, do you remember that? And I know all you want is to keep going to U.A…but I can’t take it anymore.” Izuku: (internal thoughts) “I shouldn’t have been surprised. I’ve been ignoring my mothers feelings for so long.” Inko: “I’ll speak frankly sir. As Izuku’s mother. I don’t have the nerves I need to entrust my son to U.A, not with everything that’s happened at your school. It doesn’t matter what a wonderful hero you are, when the villains attacked every class had to be canceled, and you couldn’t stop the students from being seriously injured almost killed. I won’t put my son in danger. It’s my duty as his mother. To keep him safe.” The second time was after the war arc in the hospital, where she’s scared for her sons life knowing he’s being targeted by villains, and she balls her eyes out when the citizens are shouting for Deku to not be brought back to U.A.
I just love the School Festival arc in S4 with Gentle Criminal and La Brava as the focused villain for that specific arc than the Joint Training arc in S5. Although the Joint Training arc was filled with some important reveal like Blackwhip awakening and other character's new moves, it would've been better if the training wasn't the main focus but rather switch POV with the Pro Heroes investigating on the whereabouts of League of Villains after Endeavor Vs. Nomu fight or even on Hawks approaching Dabi to gain LoV trust.
Yea that’s a good point honestly, the training arc felt a little stretched out even tho I understand it’s importance, it would’ve been nice to have that switch of Povs and follow multiple stories, wouldve paced better.
I find that trash taste video funny considering Garnt is the only one who has actually watched season 6, and he put the first half of season 6 in A tier in a tier list video he did lol. Great video, My Hero gets a lot of criticism some of it deserved, but it’s story and characters are more complex then it gets credit for imo and when this show gets good man does it deliver like it did with season 6.
@@AntiKash From everytime Trash Taste has brought up, it's always Garnt who were like "I think it's fine, i just watched season _, it's cool rn" meanwhile Joey and Connor kept going with the hatewagon because they hate the stuff that is mainstream most of the time.
@@RenShinomiya121 exactly I love all of them genuinely amazing creators, don’t need me to say that, it’s obvious. But anime wise it’s usually just grant with good takes cus he watches most and gives it a chance before hating, like even with this my hero take, if he was around supportive fans rather than Joey and Connor, he def would’ve been supporting it too
Season 5 was integral to the story. Because it is what we have at our best. What we are fighting for. And what people can be/do at their most positive state. Being a hero is not just about punching down the bad guys or solving a solution with violence and constant supervision, but keeping society happy and bringing joy to those who lost it. So when season six happens, and Shigaraki rips down the cities. When our heroes die on mass in battle. When Dabi kills all forms of moral by revealing the dark underbelly and horror of hero society through the number one hero; the world is left devastated and destroyed on every conceivable level. Its season 5 that becomes the goalpost. That light that has currently been stomped out. We have to fight to get it back. (Also I like Gentle and his arc that shows like Twice, how one mistake in this society can ruin your life and why some people go for villiany, without the ties of violence that attracts others like the league of villains.)
😭😭 I’m so glad u appreciated that, I felt like it was so accurate but then I was like maybe I’m just weird. Maybe Horikoshi puts it in the manga one day💀
The concert arc gets a lot of hate, but it's one of my favorite arcs tbh. Gentle was an interesting villain and seeing Eri smile for the first time made it all worth it to me. Definitely better than the class 1a vs 1b arc imo even though that wasn't so bad either. I love the direction season 6 has gone didn't think MHA would get so dark, it was great from start to finish and I'm really hyped for season 7 now.
In case my profile wasn't ay indication, there's one character that I relate to more than any other, and he's a side character with only a handful of scenes. I think that speaks to why I've been liking this show for so long honestly. I really hope that makes sense. 😅 Anyways, I really liked this video!
some of the untouched side characters will get their time to shine in later seasons (based on manga) like Shoji, Tokoyami, Aoyama, Mina, even Koji and Hagakure as well as Shinso
@@chrispolo25 100% they have great taste and takes all the time, mainly from garnt(gigguk) but takes like the one I included is this vid is clearly from someone who didn’t watch all of the anime, which is fair to be honest, but if you haven’t seen it all then you can’t judge it all.
Besides the main 3 (Deku, Bakugo, Todoroki) There's plenty of side characters I care about - Ochaco, Ida, Kirishima, Kiminari, Tokyami, All Might Endeavor, Hawks and the list keeps going. There's villains that are on my list too. Shiggy, Dabi, Stain There's plenty of characters that are worth caring about, as long as you don't have the attention span of an 8 year old
That’s good lol but the characters you care about isn’t always about attention span like you said, it’s just preference. In no way am I saying the side characters are poorly written or even bad characters, I personally just don’t really care about most of them like mineta, the twinkling guy, the tape guy, etc.
@@AntiKash lol bruh, there's 20 students in Class 1-A. Some are bound to be more forgettable than others. Naruto has PLENTY of those kinds of characters. I'm obviously not defending characters like fucking MINETA. Lmfao 🤣
Ironically my biggest criticism of the show is also a major point of interest to me and that the cast is enormous, way too big to give everyone a ton of detail on so there ends up being a bunch of characters who feel like you don't really know. And yet I can't help like a nerd obsessing over new characters when I see them, like when Wash showed up all I could think of was "What does he do? He's number 8?" Being a nerd has always been about obsessing over the most superfluous of background characters and and MHA will definitely reward you if that's something you do.
Anyone who didn’t like the past couple seasons of my hero i get it. I disagree and love all the show but I will admit it’s weak at times. But anyone who watches this season and dislikes it I think must have a separate reason to dislike the show. It may not be everyone’s favorite but this show has a lot of great scenes
I’m going to be honest I hate how many people make fun of deku just for crying, so just because he is an emotional character he’s trash, it’s just weird
I like that MHA takes some time to dedicate to developing the side cast. A lot of Shonen manga like Naruto or Dragon Ball introduce a lot of side characters only for them to be irrelevant, like my poor boy Rock Lee.
Deku has always been my fav character. People who relate will, people who wont, wont. I do, so i like him. He’s a goat. plain and simple. shouldn’t have taken six seasons for people to recognize
That’s also the reason why deku’s my favorite MC. I don’t care if a MC can destroy galaxies, be multiversal level or be edgy and cool enough. I appeal more towards characters I can relate too, which is why Deku and Spider-Man are some of my favorite characters in fiction.
@@t.j.1584 fr i stg everyone wants their mc to just be traumatized and edgy like todoroki and eren everytime. Being apathetic towards people is not that cool yall lol
Izuku was *never* bad tbh, but he *REALLY* isn't even in the slightest anymore. For! Sure! Another thing I've quite liked about watching him grow up over the whole show (since I finally got around to giving it another shot after getting bored and dropping Season 2 without even finishing it initially since my dad wanted to check it out a year or two ago and now we *both* caught up) is how at this point: You almost *forget* he used to be a "crier" tbh... Like, until Bakugou *finally* apologized for a little over a decade of being "flaming crap mixed with garbage" to him in the latest dubbed episode atm ("Deku vs. Class 1A" as of 03/29/23): I literally can't even *remember* the last time he cried... Which is kinda cool, actually: Really shows how far he's come and grown in and of itself. Honestly love that detail (and this season in general *SO MUCH, became a new favorite along with 1 & 4 practically "as soon" as he threw on the mask again & holy frick: Waiting for Season 7's probably gonna be bloody AWFUL after riding a high as high as this one was/still is for those of us who prefer the English VAs... Easily my new 2nd favorite anime)*
Yo bro loved the video great analysis! I would love to ask how do you use the op instrumental without getting copyright? Thank you and keep up the good work ❤
Ty fam and I wish I could give you a clear answer on the copyright but the main thing is to pitch the volume for the op down so my commentary is about 10 db higher and then the part where my commentary ended, the music plays for like 10 seconds, which I think also helped.
@Anti Kash thanks for the quick answer I subbed ! In premiere pro do you just lower the audio gain or do you use an effect on the sound ? Thank you so much 🙏❤️
Saying that you think All Might should have died in the AFO fight, is just asking for the overdone cliché of the mentor dying heroically so the protag has to step up. It's done to death and boring. MHA instead removed the mentor's power so the need for someone to step up could still be filled, but then did it far more interesting by having the mentor's rival, Endeavor, having to step up instead. All while the once great All Might feels helpless and useless and struggling not to give in to his self pity. Having All Might die heroically while still at the top is the lamest trope.
Definitely agreed 100%, All might still living adds more value to the story and pulls some interesting things like you mentioned like Endeavor stepping up. However I feel like AFO probably should’ve died in that fight and than comeback the way he did in season 6 where he takes over Shigaraki’s body. It would give us the shock value of “holy crap, AFO’s back?!”, give us a false sense of safety through season 4 and 5 because we think AFO’s completely gone, it would flip the cliché of “the mentor dying heroically so the protag has to step up” but this time for the antagonist (something a little different). And it would give Shigaraki a bigger reason to want to kill All might as it’s been said by Sir Nighteye that a villain would unspeakably, gruesomely kill him. Or AFO through Shiggy would kill him. That’s my thoughts on it.
I get why they had to give him all of these quirks. But also adding on the ability to have what's basically a commentary track running into his ear telling him what to do when fighting is a little much
@@AntiKash I do think it's kind of funny though that the two Americans who made Avatar: The Last Airbender to resemble anime as closely as possible got an actual anime writer to copy them
Okay I get that people like to say that my hero academia got bad with the slice of lifestyle which I honestly really disagree because we seen a lot of other animes go to the slice of life style animes like dragon Ball z One piece Naruto bleach some of them even introduce some of the aspects immediately dr. Stone even introduced more about science so I disagree if anybody who want to see that my hero academia got bad because in introduced slice of lifestyle which honestly makes a lot of sense to introduce a slice of lifestyle since is this is Japan we are talking about
Honestly they did the slice of life really well, and had a genuine purpose like when they were trying to make Eri feel better, which tons of people reminded me of in these comments. It’s an amazing overall show.
@@AntiKash see I leave somebody understands me because everybody's giving season for a lot of flack just because it introduced to slice of life which is honestly not bad because a lot of other shows do it
Yeah bro. People really hate on this show. Yes I will admit they did fu** it up with that concert season but we just gonna ignore the fact that 90% shounen anime have bad animations with filler. In terms of story telling and character development, it nailed it. I will admit that they did make the main cast a bit too big and there powers really were confusing too but they are doing pretty good. I may not know what the name of each hero is but I can recognise them by Thier faces. Although I do think they should have made the top heroes after endeavour alot more op and strong too. I mean they are like the top heroes. But overall I did say MHA right now is pretty damn good I did give it a solid 8/10 overall but the season 6 was a straight 10 for me
Exactly like u said, and tbh most shonen filler isn’t even nearly as good as the concert arc was. And season 6 is also insanely good, really amazing overall and my favorite season of the show so far!
Those two Deku Vs. Class 1A episodes felt really emotionally intense. I might just think that because I'm pretty new to anime but that was a really strong emotional experience, at least in my opinion
Nah I actually agree with that too, deku was putting so much pressure on himself and he was doing it for everyone else, including class 1A, but in reality he had the help that he deserved but he was too noble to accept it. Them fighting was honestly a great climax to his vigilante arc.
I think a ton of people can't get over the initial impressions of season 1 characters, where Deku cried a lot, Shigaraki had a ridiculous motivation for attacking/being a villain, Bakugo was an annoying piece of garbage, etc etc. When you look at a ton of people's criticisms for dropping the show in season 4 and 5, and look where the anime is now, do they still hold up? Is Bakugo still a piece of crap being an asshole just for the sake of it? Does Deku still cry for "no reason"? Does Shigaraki not have an (at least somewhat) compelling reason for doing what he does? I never really found some of those criticisms to be that bad, but to each their own. I agree with the initial reaction of him being an asshole for the sake of it, but after seeing his fight with Deku after Kamino, I saw him in a different light as the character with arguably the most character development in the show, and this current season solidifying that. I saw Deku's crying as something that isn't too farfetched. As a more emotional person, it makes sense that he might cry more comparatively to others. Everyone reacts differently to different situations, and with the cast of MHA being more "realistic" (in the kid sense for shonen shows, they seem to act more like 15 year olds/Middle to high school kids than say Jojos part 3 and 4, Naruto, JJK, Bleach, etc) I saw it more as something that helps to portray his earnest feelings about whatever is going on. Also, if a kid who was bullied and singled out for most of his life starts to be recognized and appreciated (Season 2 Sports Festival), or if they were put in a life-threatening situation where they didn't know what to do/were not prepared and where people are getting gored (Season 1 Aizawa vs Nomu), it makes sense to me that some people would cry tears of joy, tears out of fear, etc. With Shigaraki, I understand that some people don't like his backstory. Some reasons I have seen was that the people who did not like it have been through worse, so they think it is a ridiculous reason to become a villain, and that makes perfect sense. However, with him being groomed into being someone that hates all of hero society by the person regarded as the King of Evil in the show, I don't think it's too farfetched as well. I'd like to think that Horikoshi has his reasons for doing things the way he did (Think of the reception of Season 2 and 3 vs season 4 and 5). I always thought that seasons 4 and 5 were ones that were buildup, and didn't dismiss them as making the show in its entirety "mid", and making it fall off. I'm not saying that the show is immune to criticism, but I feel like one of the main points of the show was how people grow from just being standard tropes to actually compelling, relatable characters. Also, Trash Taste lives up to their name, and it sucks but I feel like their opinions really influence a large portion of the anime community, and the community end up echoing their statements rather than coming to their own conclusions which is why I stopped listening in on their podcasts. I also can see your point with how many of the side characters that aren't really important get more screen time than they should. I also agree, sometimes other characters' cameos kind of feel forced in when they don't really do much or have anything that endears them to the audience. I know many people that agree with your sentiment of All Might dying, and I understand the merits of it. It would be a good driving factor to help Deku grow and evolve, becoming his own person rather than just being All Might's successor. Overall, you made a great video!
Amazing amazing amazing. Literally your comment is better than my video, could t stress that enough, so much early judgement, unclear motivations and more that three people off but once you come to this point of the anime, you realize how much was built up. Stigma from the community and podcasts truly created a false narrative but we understand what really is false.
You are so right bro the villains at this point are the best part of the show. This season was great because it has stakes and is not overly light hearted. Characters dying adds a lot of excitement like shit actually matters.
@@AntiKash ok if you mean but mineta is the best character in mha, his rizz is on another level, there isn't even the rizzante that has as much rizz as mintea, you can agree with me right??
For me, for both Demon Slayer and MHA it took twelve episodes to suspend my disbelief and like the show. The "hero vs. villain" stuff in MHA is especially goofy. But it got better and season 6 was really enjoyable. I'd rather have lots of colorful characters like MHA does than like... four characters that Demon Slayer has. And all the characters are consistently developing as time goes on; it's a nice touch. The Todoroki Family Drama was surprisingly engaging: it took the Vegeta archetype and really fleshed it out. League of Handjobs remains goofy as hell though: bro got the power-up to get hijacked? Rough.
One of the things i loved SO MUCH about this season is that they gave the villains layers. There are so many animes, books, movies, etc. With villains that just have no background to them. The creator of mha gave such a good counterclaim that it makes it so interesting. While there are so many people that dont like mha, i think they need to give it a chance. Because this season was an absolute banger Edit: tbh..(im 13 btw..) mha was one of my first animes and i honestly really enjoyed it. But i do understand where the hate is coming from. But this anime just keeps getting better
I agree 100%, it gets most of its hate because people don’t like the fan base, but besides the fact that’s some unfair judgement, there really is way more to the show than people give credit to, more people need to check It out
honestly these points are very valid. i have watched all of mha and enjoyed it for the most part but i admit and see it has faults. i think the main problem with it came at the end of season 4 and start of season 5 where i think we r too developed in the story for those arcs to be interesting but pushing past those its much more enjoyable. season 6 was the most enjoyable the show has been in so long and it really feels like the story is wrapping up and characters are (finally) being developed
Thank uuu🙏 and just like u said certain parts were getting a bit long and taking away from the plot in earlier seasons, but nonetheless s6 is peak and a lot of people are missing out because they dropped it too early
@@AntiKash As a content creator who also likes mha, I gotta give credit where it's due 🤙🏾 That trash taste part was also funny asl, exactly how I felt 😭
I gave up on the show myself until recently saw some spoiler clips that interested me. Decided to give it another chance and I am really glad that I did. Season 6 saved this series. I think it is the best season so far. I was bawling my eyes out so many times. Shit got real. Season 6 is what everyone has been wanting. I was so happy to see a darker more vulnerable Deku. A darker story line really fits this show more. I feel like they could've taken out episodes from season 4-5 and started events from season 6 earlier.
Exactlyyyy!!! I felt the same way, the end of s5 was really strong in my eyes and then 6 came in and solidified the show for me. Hopefully they keep that up!
Tbh the side development of Sid e characters are like 60% of the show for me, I respect your past opinion but I personally wouldn’t like the show if that wasn’t an aspect
While mha isn't in my top 10, I will say I wanted it to be since it's got amazing scenes like AFO fight, Eri rescue and smile, and vigilante Deku. But... I just have my own problems with the series like plenty of the characters not getting enough attention to make me even remember their name and a few others but yeah. Season 6 was not bad
So, I love the concert arc (helps I love music and am a music student). But, two major things besides side character looks happened that were important. One was the main point, get a wounded child to smile. Two, show Midoriya a Villain JUST like him.
I stopped watching MHA during the start of season 5 because it wasn't that appealing to me anymore. Glad I gave it a second chance after hearing things about season 6. It got so good I even caught up with the manga :D
Your here too 💀💀💀
The hate comes from the parasitic fandom
XD
Honestly season 6 was definitely my favorite season. They really stepped up their game
Factssss
Season 4 will always have a place in my heart, but I loved season 6 too, made me cry...a lot
I was expecting something more epic tbh...season 3 is still the best and it all went downhill from there.
@@Shipdacheese Season 4, 5 and 6 were the best my guy
Technically, "all might" did die, toshinori is all that remains.
Details schmetails (I know what you mean but that’s not what they mean).
First... notice Deku really hasn't cried since the Bakugo rescue?
Sameee. So glad season 6 came out so well!
Yeah I like how a lot of the previous developments are not forgotten, and used as pay offs
Or that to shoto deku is his hero
i ain’t reading all that but yeah your black
@@jordanpax9735 I agree. I love Deku, I always have and I always will. I don't understand why people dislike his crying so much. He faces terrifying people on a regular basis (it's traumatising) and he is just a little kid and *despite* being terrified, he *still* is so active and saves everyone. That is the definition of bravery. He gets stuff done all the time so what if he cries? I agree with your point about how people act like other people have no problems and why they can't see why an author would choose to show a character like Deku to inspire people to do better. I know Deku was an inspiration to me at the very least.
@@jordanpax9735 Wait really has Shoto said that to him, that he was his hero, I love moments like that😍
(By the way I'm not a shipper)
In this arc Deku learns many valuable lessons :
- Like the fact that saving a person physically sometimes is not enough, you also have to help them mentally.
I 100% prefer to hear out people's genuine opinions, even if I don't agree or think they are being naive, than hearing another manga reader complain about the blue sky in the background every episode.🙄
I GET IT, the adaptation could be better, I DON'T CARE, stop being petty and go watch Demon Slayer if you're so disgusted by the backgrounds in this series.
And I agree, the anime fumbles sometimes, people just take it so seriously tho🤦
@@silveratlas2706 nah i dont care, you're not annoying me at all, just making great points.
Thank you so much for the acknowledgement. This anime doesn't deserve hate
Ofc fam, it deserves a lot more love rather than the hate it’s currently getting
Us manga readers were trying to tell these anime only’s that the show would get better. I’m glad they finally realize now and see for themselves.
I think the past seasons in retrospect are better than what ppl say and some of the things that made it so good could be overlooked on a first viewing. I think the meaning behind the story was developing with the story which is kind of cool. I like how mha also shows similarities to our own society
Now try to tell then to not see season 7
Same with deku, yes both are way kinder than expected but that’s the point, it’s actually the harder choice, both could easily be evil or just a heartless hero, but they promote kindness and go through plenty of development through their respective shows.
imo My Hero is the one shonen that strikes the perfect balance of being light hearted at times and dark when it needs to be.
It’s good to see some people watch the series develop and understand why the way things were like before
So mush of the criticism around this show makes me realize that most people don’t know how to recognize themes
Pretty much, that and just judging way too early
Truly exposes the people who give up on it so early as well.
i am full of hapiness since Lemillion showed up with his quirk back
Sameee!!! So happy to see him healthy again!
6th season is not for kids. There are a lot of darker and more adult themes in the season. And every episode is pretty much a banger.
Nomu have existed since Season 1-2, and what they actually are is horrifying (mindless monsters with quirk users’ corpses reanimated)
@@ashhabimran239 Yes and Nomu are not kid friendly. But season 6 is a lot more mature and grittier.
eh,the show became more serious but i dont know about darker and more adult themes
This season 6 was the best so far and the one who saved my hero academia from death, this season is so incredible that i readed all the manga, the op and the end were fire, and aslo the other season were fine
Conclusion : mha is my favorite anime, and deku is one of the best MC for me
Yes this season was so good, it solidified so muchhh. Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought that
Long time fan of MHA but I have to admit for a while I wasn’t bothered about keeping up to date, wow am I glad I caught up in time for the season 6 finale!
Factssss can’t wait for the new season !!
@@AntiKash yeah hope we don’t have to wait too long now that bones are done with mob psycho (which also rocks!), great vid man!

Exactly!!!! A lot of the hate is from people who just dropped it too early. You could never judge a full book just by reading half of it.
@@AntiKash Amen brother
(Honestly this video was amazing and covered why I stuck around for My Hero Academia!!)
MHA seems like something where you should just "Trust the process" and that is true for the viewers, but after rewatching it I realized that Horikoshi actually put some foreshadowing and effort wayy back in season 1 and has a psychological element to make us see what the public sees.
Season 6 was literally PEAK from the beginning to the end. 🔥🤯
Factsssss!! Only up from here
"made for little kids" seeing night eye get impaled says otherwise

Love this show & dropped a tear or 2 in season 6 because I think it’s that good. I just finished the ep where Deku returns to school after fighting his friends. I know the show is called My Hero Academia but after this story arc I’m ready for Deku to finish school & become a hero full-time!
As the anime that got me into anime, I have a soft spot for MHA personally, further exemplified by the fact that I started watching this show when I was at a rock bottom point in life, and this show helped me out of that. Yeah, there seems to be loads of toxic, unwarranted hate and negativity towards it recently, whether it’s manga readers freaking out if so much as one pixel is out of place, or just plain bandwagoning, or even for the fandom (personally, it makes NO sense whatsoever to hate a piece of media over its fans)
As for the school festival arc, loads of comments already went over it, but it’s one of the most misunderstood arcs imo.
Literally the only good take they have (going off of this first impression alone, as I've never heard of 'em before)?:
*"I see you got that Legoshi statue in the background there"*
What piss me off the most abot this people is that they always put their eye in the popular animes right and ignore the rest like nothing.
Exactly I love them too but you could never judge a book if ur only gonna read half of it. And thank u fam 🙏
On the contrary lol, mha is overrated
@@Dr._Atom Nah very underrated
@@Dr._Atom Nah you havent been keeping up, the hype is mostly gone since season 3-4. Only actual legit fans stick with the series now and majority of the anime community calls it "mid" as if saying something is mid is a valid critique.

Which character do you not like?
@@ashhabimran239 It’s a bit of a controversial take, but I’ve really grown to dislike Enji’s arc. I think it started out amazing, but it unfortunately took a huge nosedive for me after the first war arc. The Todoroki family subplot as a whole remains great, but his arc has become super botched imo. (If you’d like, I could go into why, but I wont do it in this reply since it’s a little long)
I still think there’s time for it to stick the landing, but I won’t hold my breath for the time being since I find it pretty lame.
Easily much worse out there. And yea it had a younger perspective for a good amount of it but I think here(season 6) is where it truly shifts gears.
Everyone keeps saying they like the new deku better but i just feel bad for him he’s under an imaginable amount of stress rn and nobody sees that or cares they just see “oh deku faster stronger dont cry he cool” gets on my nerves man…
@@t.j.1584 To make the point that she was indeed, neglectful,
1: We've seen Bakugous bullying get physical, we've seen Deku covered in bruises, probably burns too given the explosive nature of the damage, yet she never pulled him out of that school, or did anything to protect him.
And I won’t allow it.”
Deku: “wait what?! But yesterday you said-“
Inko: “I thought about it since than. Maybe it was better that way idk.”
Izuku: “that’s not true.”
Inko: “honey, I told you I would support you but that I wouldn’t stop worrying, do you remember that? And I know all you want is to keep going to U.A…but I can’t take it anymore.”
Izuku: (internal thoughts) “I shouldn’t have been surprised. I’ve been ignoring my mothers feelings for so long.”
Inko: “I’ll speak frankly sir. To keep him safe.”
The second time was after the war arc in the hospital, where she’s scared for her sons life knowing he’s being targeted by villains, and she balls her eyes out when the citizens are shouting for Deku to not be brought back to U.A.

Trueee 5 was an amazing buildup for 6, the shows been going on an upward trend since then to be honest.

So true so many hate it for wrong or invalid reasons
The concert arc gets a lot of hate, but it's one of my favorite arcs tbh. Gentle was an interesting villain and seeing Eri smile for the first time made it all worth it to me. Definitely better than the class 1a vs 1b arc imo even though that wasn't so bad either.
I love the direction season 6 has gone didn't think MHA would get so dark, it was great from start to finish and I'm really hyped for season 7 now.

some of the untouched side characters will get their time to shine in later seasons (based on manga) like Shoji, Tokoyami, Aoyama, Mina, even Koji and Hagakure as well as Shinso

Crying is a sign of what it means to be truly human, as it takes true strength to cry, than to "be a man."
Trueeeee
Ironically my biggest criticism of the show is also a major point of interest to me and that the cast is enormous, way too big to give everyone a ton of detail on so there ends up being a bunch of characters who feel like you don't really know. And yet I can't help like a nerd obsessing over new characters when I see them, like when Wash showed up all I could think of was "What does he do? He's number 8?" Being a nerd has always been about obsessing over the most superfluous of background characters and and MHA will definitely reward you if that's something you do.
I always liked this series, but man, now's crazy

But anyone who watches this season and dislikes it I think must have a separate reason to dislike the show. It may not be everyone’s favorite but this show has a lot of great scenes
I’m going to be honest I hate how many people make fun of deku just for crying, so just because he is an emotional character he’s trash, it’s just weird
I like that MHA takes some time to dedicate to developing the side cast. A lot of Shonen manga like Naruto or Dragon Ball introduce a lot of side characters only for them to be irrelevant, like my poor boy Rock Lee.
True true rock lee was such wasted potential

This season was the best season by far no question. My Hero really came back hard after the 4th and 5th seasons🥺
Factssss
I'll never drop this anime
Bro you have one of the best opinions out here mha is the best for me❤
Ayy thank you 🙏 and I agree it’s really one of the bests currently and hopefully they keep it up!
@@AntiKash
Deku was finally given a pair of balls in this season, and Bakugou learned to be 25% less of an asshole.
Factssss made both of them so much better
Yo bro loved the video great analysis!
I would love to ask how do you use the op instrumental without getting copyright?
Thank you and keep up the good work ❤
Ty fam and I wish I could give you a clear answer on the copyright but the main thing is to pitch the volume for the op down so my commentary is about 10 db higher and then the part where my commentary ended, the music plays for like 10 seconds, which I think also helped.
@Anti Kash thanks for the quick answer I subbed !
In premiere pro do you just lower the audio gain or do you use an effect on the sound ?
Thank you so much 🙏❤️
That concert arc was heat
Maybe my bad memory just made me think it’s not cus everyone in the comments has been giving me great reasons as to why and I forgot 😭😭
But also adding on the ability to have what's basically a commentary track running into his ear telling him what to do when fighting is a little much
Trueeee, i personally liked most of the powers but the personal guide is a little much and goes against his arc of growing as a hero individually.
@@AntiKash see I leave somebody understands me because everybody's giving season for a lot of flack just because it introduced to slice of life which is honestly not bad because a lot of other shows do it
this review was amazing
You’re amazing
@@AntiKash yeah man.
@@AntiKash Deku did accept help though. He has the voices of seven people on demand to tell him what to do and how to do it when fighting.
The mha got good after everyone hated it and moved on
Yup horikoshi was waiting for this, so he could prove everyone wrong 😭
Exactly, it feels like it was all a build up and stakes are finally at its highest. Can’t wait to see more.
That's the thing ,people treat deku like allmights shadow, he's himself not another all might
Mineta is the best character in mha 4:35
…
@@AntiKash what do you wanna say anything to me??
@@Orhan0747 to each their own...
Rough.
Factss, I was dissapointed too tbh that they just hijacked him right after he got so strong, it has a lot of potential still though for sure
Concert arc was one of my favorites to be honest
Seems like I was misunderstood on it for sure, def need to rewatch it or something, I’m a little slow sometimes.
Because this season was an absolute banger
Edit: tbh..(im 13 btw..) mha was one of my first animes and i honestly really enjoyed it.
Really good video man.
Thank u fam means the world to me seriously, hearing words like that🙏🙏❤
@@AntiKash As a content creator who also likes mha, I gotta give credit where it's due 🤙🏾
That trash taste part was also funny asl, exactly how I felt 😭
😭😭😭I was laughing while makin it Fr I love em but takes like that reminds me of their name💀
Criticism is fine, I appreciate the show, and there are actually symbolic moment that have really touched me, but this show is just that a show.
The reason he struggled was because he was trying to become “all might 2.0” he was only able to truly grow when he was trying to be his own hero.
I will say, that the festival arc is going to hit people hard in like a year.
I love the trash taste guys but I completely disagree with them.
Exactly how I felt still love em but anime takes ain’t always the best, they’re people too so bound to happen.
So, I love the concert arc (helps I love music and am a music student). But, two major things besides side character looks happened that were important. One was the main point, get a wounded child to smile. Two, show Midoriya a Villain JUST like him.
True true I completely missed how important that arc was but luckily people like u reminded me here in the comments how important it really was, Ty
I stopped watching MHA during the start of season 5 because it wasn't that appealing to me anymore. Glad I gave it a second chance after hearing things about season 6. It got so good I even caught up with the manga :D
WWWW!!!! It’s So worth it fam.
Villain hunt wasn’t a bad arc, it’s just that it should have been the main final arc instead of THE final arc
