Mixing the chrome paint from the grog metal head with some purple ink makes a really awesome galaxy color and has a really good flow in the metal head. You should totally try it out
Yeah I should clarify, I actually really like the paint in the krink markers for the most part. And to a certain extent that's probably why they can get away with charging so much and not having refills. But even if money was no object, I don't think I would ever feel good about just buying krink stuff. feels dirty some how to me haha
The Grog metal head for me is king. Only complaint is its hard to use when it gets about half full unless used on flat surfaces. To combat this issue, I found a plastic aeroguard mosquito repellent bottle (about 200ml) which happens to have the same thread on it. Now it holds about 3x as much paint, so I can get many many tags out of it. I found that using house paint straight out of the tin works best in it, thick paint comes out great, and also bc it lays on thick, it will last longer. Also, bucket paint is free usually bc its easy to find laying around. I usually refer to the grog metal head with the aeroguard body as a "whiteout on steroids".
I've always loved metal tip markers just because of how many things you can write on, I just hated that there's so little on the market and that they're expensive and break pretty easily. So for a diy marker, grease fittings are your best friend. Just like a grog but smaller. They work really well and are pretty cheap. Also markal makes metal tip markers too, though the paint is ASS so I replaced it immediately with some acrylic paint, and the "industrial" tip started to rust BAD. It was fun while it lasted though. Just wish I had a good, solid, full sized marker that wouldn't break easily, and had replacement tips. Anyways, loved the vid fam! Keep up the radical work!
I have fiddled with grease fittings at a place i used to work at cause i noticed it kinda looked like a metal head but the ball bearing seems to be very recessed into the metal body. Have you had any succes in making those work?
I got to agree with you on the number #1 for the dalo. They are kinda expensive but prety easy to rack where i live and they are literally the enduro bikes of markers, they'll go over everything and every terrain, plus the ink is though as nails, the main disadvantage i see on those is the fact that they are damn near imposible to refill. Great vid btw, keep it up sciz.
I am using my Metal heads I've had for years. Not sure how rough you handle em. But for me they are sooo damn tough and get used daily on the wildest surfaces, love em!
maybe I've just had bad luck. I definitely treat them pretty roughly on concrete and such but I would have expected the k66s and the metal heads to hold up a bit more than they have for me
I was about to respond and say that most of the graff sites I use seem to still have them...but then I went and looked and they literally don't! You're right. I'm gonna have to take extra good care of mine from now on lol.
I always keep a press n go and Molotow roller ball in my pocket but when I’m going to do some serious tags I pull out my grog been having mine 3-4 yrs and still writes on all surfaces going hard as the day as I got it.
Hey sciz! I really like your videos about supplies and think that a video about local paint store graffiti supplies. Something where it talked about good supplies that you can get at your local paint stores. (Just a suggestion)
Bombing science doesn't have the grog metal head in stock anymore, but they stock the rough stuff paint formula. And I haven't been able to find just a normal whiteout pen to save my life, not even at walmart or dollarama.
Bombing science seems to have trouble consistently stocking grog stuff. They have told me they've had some stocking issues with it, but I would think that the metal heads will be back in stock at some point for sure. The white out pens I have gotten are definitely just Walmart ones. idk what's up with the Walmarts in your area lol. dollar tree has some too sometimes but they aren't so great I find
Just managed to snag the last two Dykem Dalo markers from Acklands and Grainger on clearance for $5.60 each. They should be here next week just in time to take them on a trip with me.
👌👍💯 Totally agree with you on unrackable pens/etc being a waste of time even being worth a glance, when a manufacturer puts a HUGE price and/or a paltry amount of paint or ink! But I did get a metal head yellow Industrial pen Free & was the BEST for durability, paint adherence, with a round rubber pump at the end... 👌💯🔥 Pure greed Mann 😡🤦🤬 AHHHH & JUST as your Vid was ending.... I noticed the "Dano!" & I think this may of been that very tool ! SO, top review mate. Gonna look online Now hahaha NUFF RESPECT YO 🤙🤟👊
Yeah the Dalo's are a good one! They are common enough to find as well which is nice, so they are available in many more places than some of the niche graffiti brand metal heads that have less product crossover into the industrial side of things
the grog metal head always broke after a while... the nolotow is kind of good but only for ruff surfaces bit the ball never broke... and the ones that are cheap as the correction pens still the best budget and action durability ive used... for me the best without a doubt!
when i got my first and only grog metal head the paint was dry and even after i added alcohol to reactivate it, it was still very thick and only suitable for ground tags and the paint would take forever to get to the tip of the marker
Thank you man! I might have actually shown that in my speed white correction pen fluid video. Might wanna check it out. I'm like 90% sure it was in there
I like the ink in the K-66 bc I get a good 3D effect but for the life of me I cant get a line without a bunch of streaks down the middle. If I squeeze it gets too drippy to read unless I’m on a flat surface.
Yeah I know what you mean. If you can get the sort of blotches at the end of the lines it looks really cool, but I personally never have used that exact metal head enough for me to be able to make super good lines with it either
Might be worth using some acetone (in nail polish remover) on a cloth and going Ober the ball bearing and the inside of it. That would help us there's any dried out paint or ink stopping in from rolling. Worth a try!
I like the tip on the grog metalheads. I do not like the bodies, the lids, the part of the plastic where the metal connects to the lid, or the paint that comes in them. Literally everything about them EXCEPT the piece that touches the grit feels cheap on the ones I bought, and the lid is a pain to get back on once the body compresses even a little bit.
I really liked the flexibility of the plastic personally, but the caving in of it when you recap it is just such a pain that it almost makes the other aspects of it irrelevant to me nowadays
I love ur hatred of krink prices hahahaha the only metal head tip i use is on my k66 bottle... and becuz that stupid tiny mop costs me almost 20bucks its like im determined to make it last and be the only bearing tip i use... for no other reason then so i can tell myself it was worth the money lol....
Here's my two cents: The krink one is absolute garbage, can't think of a reason to buy one. The Molotow/OTRs are good only with runny ink/paint, otherwise they are painfully streaky. They don't break AS easily as let's say the other Krink but i still believe that that's an issue. The Grog Metalhead isn't bad, however it also requires way runnier ink then what's already in it, otherwise welcome to streakfest. It's pretty durable, however I've had issues with the runnier ink that I've filled in just leaking past the ball bearing. My biggest issue with the Grog Metalhead is simply how unpractical it is. The way it feels in your hand is comparable to a square spray can, it just doesnt work, it's way too big and the shape is weird. The other krink (the not so bad one) is only good for smooth surfaces, the ink in it is okay, however i believe that all of the products listed until now are absolutely useless simply because a correction pen exists. You can buy like 25 of them for the price of one krink, they are durable, squeezable, they never leak or streak and even if you manage to break one you can get a new one for less than a dollar. They work amazingly on smooth and rough surfaces. Sure, they dont work well on brick (but lets be real who even tags on bricks) but all of the products above also dont work well on brick and cost 10 or even more times as much. If you're a part of the one percent that actually tags bricks just buy a Dalo. They are fairly priced and do their job well. TLDR: krink=0/10. Molotow/otr= 5/10. Grog metalhead= (imo) 4/10. The other krink= 7/10 for smooth surfaces (simply because of the price), 2/10 for rough surfaces. DALO= (for really rough surfaces) 10/10, for smooth surfaces 3/10. A simple white out pen= 11/10
I really appreciate hearing your thoughts on all of these! And I especially agree with what you said about the ones before the correction pen being useless BECAUSE the correction pen exists lol. It's honestly a cheaper tool that isn't advertised as anything more, but somehow still manages to 1up the rest of these metal heads in most respects. Right on man
не знаю как в других странах, но в россии есть клеи с носиком в виде очень хорошего роллербола по 30 рублей за штуку, такие маркеры очень хорошо пишут по любым поверхностям
Dude those bic whiteout pens clog instantly for me, every other whiteout pen is better even the ones from dollarama although yours didn't look clogged. Be careful writing on painted surfaces with whiteout pens too if the whiteout pen reacts with the paint it can clog especially multiple coats they work fine on like clean dumpsters and stuff tho. Also rack them.
Yeah whatever paint they use in them is pretty good stuff usually it seems. But the side effect of that is exactly what you're saying, it'll react with a lot of stuff unfortunately haha
Yeah, like I said, I find that people either get it and love it, or they absolutely can't stand it. There's no in-between haha. If anything it definitely outlines how much personal preference there is in writing with any graff tool I think
I might be alone with this opinion but 99% of the time when walking a route and useing a metal head mop 2 things will happen... first the only reason u choose to use one is outta guilt cuz u see it day in and out and know u spent money and filled it with paint that a good mop could of used... second.. after every tag u do with it u think to urself.... in my experience the krink squeezer one might be expensive corporate scam but the ink is incredibly good and it just flows so well

uni paint px20 u can crush with one hand too lol, but it's a feature, gives you a better grip to pull the cap off when it gets stuck
