Considering Ultraman towards the future is considered one of the worst fighting games ever made, the fact that the original Ultraman game is even worse scares me.
So basically, it’s like playing the first Street Fighter with a worse version of Playstation All-stars’ victory mechanics but your opponents are all bosses from SNK games and you have to play as Glass Joe whilst 8bitbeast’s haunted house plays, also occasionally someone runs up to you and hands you a game boy with gradius. But hey, at least you get 16-bit Ultraman crucification. (Also the reason the were so many SD games probably had to do with 8-bit graphics not really allowing for much detail, so they had to simplify the designs to make sure they were recognisable, either that or it was just a thing banpresto did in the 80s, idk.)
I remember getting so frustrated with Ultraman Towards the Future as a kid as I could never get past the first stage. Back then, I didn't have an instruction booklet, nor the knowledge of the level 4 finisher, so it caused a lot of problems. Great coverage of the 3 games
Man, I played all three of these on emulation, desperate for any Ultraman content back in the day that my computer could handle; do gotta agree that Seven is the best one!
I liked Ultraseven, so much I did a Livestream on Expert difficulty after I practised it, because while the Fighting-Game aspect is kind of shallow as you'd say, I kind of liked how I could view it as some sort of puzzle game, it's weird but for example, you say Dally is the first wall in the game, but when he dives upward to try to land on you, just use the Barrier and he gets 2 or 3 hits from the shield, and he would get fooled by it everytime. Each bosses, I needed to find a flaw in their pattern, although for sure for a quarter of the fights, it was all about reflecting shots then running away for the Finish meter to fill up. I also really liked the musics of the last few levels, in contrast to what you've said about Reconstructed-Pandon's. Lastly and funnily, when I used Windom against Pandon 1 in my Livestream, he freaking kicked ass.
I haven't played the Ultraman one, Ultraman Towards The Future is too sensitive...the Ultraseven one is alright actually. Plus I love how some levels let you use a Capsule Monster as a softener to the enemy. Ultraseven is alright.
Dear friend, because of you I have begun weekly watch parties of Ultraman. We have named it UltraMondays. However my thirst is not quenched. Are there any series that could be watched ‘out of order’ without disrupting the joys of watching them all in order?
Cool to hear! A lot of shows fit the bill. Mentally throwing a dart at a dartboard of shows, Tiga and Gaia are solid shows standing on their own without broader context of the whole franchise. Again, plenty of options, hard to pick just one.
Ultraman towards the future is still to this day the Only Ultraman game Sold in Europe and UK. The Gaming Magazine I read alot as a kid Mean Machines before they went Sega only put Ultraman towards the future on the Front cover of one issue and they had a good track record of giving good games good reviews.
Ultraman Powered on 3DO beats the hell outta the trilogy on SNES and what they shoulda aimed for tbh. When you beat a monster in that game, they stop on their tracks and being dizzy and seconds later, Powered would automatically shoot his Specium Beam at the defeated monster. It was a standard fighting game but had things better than the SNES trilogy. 1:55, Wah wah wah. - AVGN 8:43, XD 9:42, I wish for a second season to this show~ Which probs never happen but oh well. 17:52, XD The PS2 games are pretty good.
16:37 Actually according to GameCenter CX's episode on it, you actually can use the Barrier to damage Dally if he dives at you (which is unlike the show, there, he didn't even move that much). Ultraseven has a cheat also; if you score more than 250,000 points, enter your high score name as "RND" and you get a stage select code.
Lol I remember getting so frustrated trying to play these games with a keyboard back in the early rom/emulator days. But wow the evolution games look amazing! Wish I hunted those down back during my gaming days haha
@@ShinGoji1987Official yeah, other thing is that I felt bad wen I discovered it was a bad game cuz that was the only one I had and I really liked it, but we'll that is my thing
The final battle with zetton I just backflips when it's teleported behind just in right time and end up get caught it and repeatly throwing over untill HP gauge is zero
The games are bad I will give anyone that argument. But I still enjoy them as an Ultraman fan. I use to resent them a lot, but I look at them as more of a strategy game, more than a fighting game. You just have to learn patterns and methods for each of the monsters. But some of them are damn downright unfair. Bulton and Zetton are just hair pulling monsters that would make anyone transform into their own version of the AVGN. I never understood why they never went with a side scrolling beat-um--up game for that generation of Ultra games. Worked for King of the Monsters 2, which I still adore to this day. Even if Cyber-Woo is waaaay overpowered with his flying attack.
what filter did you use to get that crt effect on your gameplay? looks great. i always wished tsupro would just give us a proper street fighter styled ultraman fighting game or just another entry in the fighting evolution series but i never have my hopes high when theyre announcing a new game
Something good about the famicom version and it's the z-ton final battle I mean the soundtrack of that battle it's sooooo kaiyu worthy battle soundtrack i'm now imagine that song but fighting agains King ghidorah jajajajajaj
But... Hey atleast the wonderswan color of Ultraman game is way more fun than the first 2 games... Also.. I have a sweet spot for Ultraseven on the Super Famicom! So, i can't blame it...
Jesus Christ! Ultraman Towards the Future was my introduction to Ultraman. An exactly not a good one. When i was 8, in a store near of my house they had this 50 cent and 1 mexican peso arcade games with 100 games. 50 cents (10 minutes game play), 1 peso (15 minutes gameplay). I saw Ultraman, got my attention, locked just the Power Rangers (the megazord battle one) i played and holly jesus christ how pain in the ass was that game! I leave Ultraman in a bad name for a gooD time until i saw Ultraman Tiga & Ultraman Dyna on VHS in a video Store. That end up beaing like a mouth wash to the bad taste that Saban Masked Rider left... Jesus.... Thanks for the coverage of the games!
@@ZaGorudan yea. It’s neat that they do use suits in the style of MK. But some suits were weird like Gomora’s which looks vastly different from the show
Honestly if you want an Ultraman fighting game. Just play the Ultraman fighting evolution series. Its so much better. Especially Fighting evolution rebirth.

"Zetton is an unfair final boss." Evergreen for Ultraman.
For an oldschool sprite art 2D fighting game, I would recommend the GBA Ultraman title
the people need the fighting evolution retrospective
They could bring these games back in a collection... With some tweaks to the gameplay of course.
The Stanky Leg Simulator

Atleast the music was peak
Great video! I hope you'll do a video on the Fighting Evolution and the 2004 Ultraman games! And maybe newer games too
Fun fact: a TV commercial for the ultra seven one was the first appearance of the 1994 eleking suit.
I would be SO PUMP if you review the ultraman fighting evolution series.

I love that 2004 Ultraman game on the ps2. I requested a page for it on retro achievements, hoping someone will make achievements for it one day.
