- If you want to avoid high fructose corn syrup, but still want chocolate syrup that tastes like Hershey's syrup, then here's the recipe.
Your homemade syrup will actually taste better than Hershey's syrup because your homemade syrup won't have any artificial flavorings or preservatives and, it will be better for you and your family.
Use it to make chocolate milk, hot chocolate and your favorite coffee drinks. Drizzle it over ice cream cones or pour it on an ice cream sundae or banana split. You'll need plenty of it if you make a hot fudge cake.
Ingredients:
1 cup - Water
1 1/2 cup - Sugar
1 cup - Cocoa
1/8 teaspoon - Salt
1 teaspoon - Real vanilla

Made this recipe, it was delicious and I wasn't scared eating it, knowing everything is natural. Thank you very much for this recipe. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your entire family. Stay healthy, stay safe, put your faith in God and He was bless up and get ut through his horrific virus. God Bless You All. Linda from Texas
Great video. I will definitely make a batch of this. BTW, Hershey's is now making and selling a natural syrup (100% real sugar) without the high fructose corn syrup. --But the price is almost double the old fake syrup with HFCS
Thank the Louisiana sugar lobby for the high sugar prices.
My husband loves chocolate syrup over ice cream, so I made this as a surprise for him. We both love it. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe!
+dabevans Thank you for the feed back. I am thrilled that you enjoyed it. Thanks for subscribing. Welcome to the Hillbilly Kitchen!
I love chocolate syrup too.
Boy, this recipe sure is great. I’ve been in Ice Cream Sundae and chocolate milk heaven for a few weeks now. If you sift the cocoa powder through a strainer, it helps with the lumps. Add a little water if necessary.
(If I use good vanilla extract it tastes exactly like Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup 😁).
Thank you for the recipe.

You're soooo close to making Chocolate Gravy!!
They use high fructose because it's cheaper. Like coke. "Real Coke" is made with cane sugar (only sold in Mexico) here in the United States it's made with high fructose corn syrup. The taste is clearly different.
Yep, it's always about money. We quit drinking Coke and switched to Pepsi with real sugar. Actually, I don't even drink it, my husband does, and he won't even drink one full one a day. He just kinda sips on a half of one and throws the rest away. God bless you!
I tried it im a kid I made some homemade ice cream and put some of this syrup and it was amazing
I’m looking for chocolate syrup to put on homemade ice cream
Ask Santa to bring you some punctuation for Christmas.
another way of getting diabetes though I still take
Can I use those cooking chocolate bar instead of the coco powder?
Sadly when Hershey started outsourcing a Huge block of business to Mexico many of the recipes changed and the taste and quality of many of their products went right down hill :(
Being chronically ill, high fructose corn syrup is the Last thing I or anyone should Ever put in our systems!!
Or as the kids say," Mamma or Nanna is stuck sick on the sofa!?! Who gave her something with high fructose corn syrup?!? :(
The Hershey Chocolate Factory Tour is still great though!!! 😃and it's free! You do have to pay for parking though. And the street lights in town are indeed giant Hershey's Kisses 😃
I Don't like to use Anything Nestle!!! I know where they pump their water from!
Also their stance on wanting laws passed to privatize Alllll waterways is just wrong to me let alone to privatize them to a non American company :(
God Bless you and yours Becky and Thank You for all the smiles and yummy you share with us! My family and I are sooooo glad I found your channel! ❤
Hi Becky. This is great. Thank you for sharing this with us. :)
+Lila Arce It really is. I have had mocca coffee every morning since I made it. Poor Charlotte is not going to have any left for chocolate milk...Guess I will have to make more :)
I’ve made homemade chocolate syrup for many years. I combine the sugar, cocoa & salt before putting it in the pan. I use evaporated milk instead of water. After the syrup has cooked I add the the vanilla & some butter. Then I beat it by hand until it’s glossy. When I’m making it as a topping for ice cream I cook it to a soft ball stage so it’s a little chewy. Makes a delicious hot fudge sundae♥♥♥♥
what measurements do you use?
Of course it does, because you're making fudge, not syrup.
@@cathys949 Call it what you will. The cooking time determines the consistency. A shorter cooking time produces a “syrup”.
This recipe makes 2 cups of syrup, and fills the plastic Nesquik bottle. 2 cups equals 16 ounces, but the label on the Nesquik bottle says you are buying 22 ounces. They include the weight of the plastic bottle.
You're thinking that volumetric measuring and weight measuring are the same. They aren't.
Just did it, I had given up on making my own syrup adter a few failed recipes but all the positive comments here motivated me to try one last time.
I'm so happy it did, it came out amazing and will use it for icecream and milk, thank you so much!!
Yeah, this recipe is a disaster for my diet 😂 already done it 5/6 times in a month
Just saw this video. I am thrilled to have learned how to make homemade chocolate sauce. Thanks.
I tried this to go over some vanilla ice cream. Soooo good. Thank you Ms Becky for sharing.
Becky It looks delicious! Happy Thanks-giving day!!!
+Hands That Cook Thank you! Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Thanks so much for the recipe. I use real spring water I get myself from a spring and real salt (pink Himilayan, not the cheap fake chemical salt).
Did you use the same amount, or less?
Hey Becky,
I'm someone who is blind, and I absolutely looooooooooooove chocolate syrup! I guess you could say I'm a chocoholic! That being said, the description of your video had the ingredients, but for some reason, you didn't put the directions with it. I listened to the video, but I can't see what's going on. I would probably have to have sighted help making this chocolate syrup, at least the cooking part, since I can't use the stove in my apartment, as it's all digital. The scary part? It runs hot, even on 3 which isn't even close to medium heat! I'd love to make homemade chocolate syrup, because ever since October 17, 2015, I've been trading preservatives, additives, artificial colorings and flavorings, and all that yucky stuff that it seems no one can pronounce, for quality ingredients, most of which I buy in bulk from places like Winco and Market Of Choice. I wonder if Turbinado sugar would work with this recipe. It's kind of like regular sugar, except it's larger granuals. Also, according to my friend, Tiffany at www.dontwastethecrumbs.com, it's the kind of sugar that would make something sweet enough to be a dessert, but not so sweet that it would put you in a sugar coma afterwards!
Hi becky, thank you for sharing this, I agree about the high fructose corn syrup, I would never ever use that stuff and they seriously need to remove it in their products. Looks wonderful.
+FitAnge S It is poison. In this country food regulations are controlled by The Food and Drug Administration. I honestly believe they put it in the food to make people sick so they can sell more drugs. Prescription drugs are big business. Thanks for watching :)
Thank you for sharing such an awesome video presentation! I made this cocoa syrup a few weeks ago, and it was easy and delish. My daughter and son-in-law came for a visit and they both loved it. I will always keep a jar your Hillbilly Kitchen cocoa syrup on hand in the fridge. It's great drizzled on ice cream, in milkshakes, and I'm thinking of other uses for it (like maybe adding it to a cake mix). Kudos!
Hello Becky ! Sending love & prayers for you & family from Alabama, the true Heart of Dixie. Thanks for all you do . Just found the chocolate syrup recipe & can't wait to make it. You mentioned posting a recipe for hot-fudge cake using this syrup recipe but I can't seem to locate it. Where can I find the cake recipe?
Thanks for sharing the recipe! God Bless You! 😊
Hello dear,
Thank you for this fantastic recipe
I saved it 5years ago and still doing it👍🏻
In return I would like to invite you to read about my relegion "Islam " the religion that teaches us to respect and believe in Mary and her son Jesus and all the prophets. Ibrahim and Moses snd Jesus .. all were sent by Allah the Merciful and the only God that worth to be worship.
Thank you again and wish you the best🌸
I really want to know how long this lasts in the fridge. Does anyone know?
I have kept it for a month. I have no idea what the FDA's guidelines would be. It has a lot of sugar which is a preservative. I would probable be good much longer but I am not a big fan of food poisoning.
this looks good Becky, can't wait to try it!
Great recipe. Thank you!
Hello nice video can I make it with out vanilla I rn out🤔 will taste different ?
I've made it last week n it's gone, now I am ready for more it was very good thanks 😊 👍🏾

Since I have using receptors from the hill Billy kitchen I had less headaches, lost some weight. I know because my jeans I just purchased are too loose I I need a b let to hold them up and I have more energy and feel less bloated . I noticed some the weight. I have been losing must be water weight from cooking foods with less salt and added sugar because I have use the bathroom more often.
Cooking from scratch is so much better for you. We had pizza on Bret's birthday Sunday. Alex bought it over. I spent the whole week sick with a severe migraine. For me it is a matter of life and death. I'm glad you are feeling better. Stay away from carry out pizza. UGH
What’s the difference in this than chocolate gray, just curious
Its cheaper than the bottled syrup as well. What that cost to. Make like 50c maybe for both bottles...
+docoluv9 It might have cost as a dollar, but definitely not more than that
Would this be even richer if I added a little butter? Or would that make it not turn out?
this is THE BEST SYRUP EVER!!!! YOU ABSALUTE LEGEND!
🤍🤍🤍😋😋😋🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😇😇😇🥰🥰🥰🎉🎉🎉Thanks Becky
thank you for that delicious recipe:)
Could you water bath can this and make it shelf stable
How much does this recipe yield?
I made a batch of this syrup. Thank you for sharing. I have watched other videos saying that the syrup would be a hard mass when refrigerated. Mine was perfect after being in the frig for over 24 hrs. Happy!!! ...of course this chocolate syrup (made chocolate milk this time) tastes better than store bought. 😊
I just now made this and it is soooo good!!
Becky...the chocolate syrup is good...do you how a recipe for hot fudge?
I do somewhere. I use it for hot fudge cake. I will add it to the list.

I've seen Hershey at a Publix that came in a sugar sweetened version. For a higher price, of COURSE.
We just ran out of hershey's tonight and I found your recipe. So happy!!

The Hillbilly Kitchen - Down Home Country Cooking god bless too thanks for the how to
Can we preserve it?
I have never tried. I have no idea what the processing time would be.
Hmm ok thanks
Love it .... looks great
Where I can buy cocoa powder
Thank you ✌🏻🇺🇸
i love your accent, i love this video
How can i store for 6 to 12 month normal temperature
I won't. It contains milk. If you pressured canned it maybe, but I don't know the process
Storing the syrup for so long just isn't a good idea. If you won't be using that much syrup over a month or two--something I couldn't imagine, then make only half as much.
