Tokyo Madison, it never looked like they weren't going to win and that last change on the bell when already in an unassailable lead was such a demonstration of dominance and professionalism.
One of my favourite TV sporting memories was the first time I saw Laura in a "Devil", I think it was the 2011 European Championships. A tiny wee slip of a 19 year old demonstrating an incredible combination of stamina, speed, acceleration, bike handling and tactical awareness; and on top of that it was supremely entertaining!
As a resident of the next town to the east of where she now resides (yet hasn't picked up the accent) Bury, I love both her and her husband. They did us prouder than proud.
@@johnpoile1451 That's not so much the case on a track where power rules. I think her small frame is more of an advantage in aero term, like Mark Cavendish, who is actually a lot less powerful than his old rivals, but has a very small frontal area. Cavendish could slip-stream his rivals but they didn't get much of a tow from him.
My favourite performance was the 2012 Omnium gold, won by such a narrow margin. You have to feel sorry for Sarah Hammer, a brilliant cyclist, but at the Olympics, she was always coming up against Laura at her best, but she never got closer to beating her than that time in London in 2012 with that single point between them.
@dualcrocodile-In reply. Maybe physically ‘slower’ ,but intellectually she’s way ahead of you.’Crocodile’is very apt -Laura belongs to Homo Sapiens Sapiens.Crawl back into your egg… !
Favourite gold medal performance? 🥇

The women's pursuit when they broke their world record for each round including the final.
@TeamGB.Can you settle an argument. Are we the only country to win a gold medal at every summer games?
@@clivenewman4810. Yes!
Well done, Trotty. Congratulations on a great career. Enjoy your retirement.
Not really retired though, a Conservative MP now

I was fortunate enough to meet Laura back in 2016. What a delightful, friendly, down-to-earth woman she was!

Laura was a sensational racer . . my favourite female rider.

What a fantastic job you did on the Olympic programmes Laura…and I have to say if I’m allowed to you did look stunning…
gorgeous golden laura 🤯 what a rider/cyclist/beast 😍
Splendid.
The ‘girl next door’ done good. Incredible career, a British sporting legend and a lovely young lady.
That madison race was the best ever Olympic event for me. The best ever.
Laura Trott / Kenny ... simply an amazing athlete.
Got to be up there with our finest sports people
Absolute beast👊👊👊
Couldn't have said it better myself. She is a total beast, unbeatable.
I know they don’t want any pressure on their kids…but it’s like teaming Steve Austin with Wonder Woman
Wonderful person, competitor, shame cut short, hope life is well for her
Her size belies her power and speed. Team GB looked so different on the podiums. Comparatively slim next to so many "Power-lifter" physiques.
Power to weight ratio, not focus on power (muscle)

La admiro Laura. Es imposible encontrar un solo calificativo q le haga justicia.
What a woman🇬🇧

Sorry to see she won’t be at Paris, thought she had one more games in her
She's a mum of two now, she's given us enough!🇬🇧
The greatest British female sportswoman ever
She's a Conservative MP now
@@petergordon4525 very good 😅
Sublime competitor
Wooooow, she needs to train the coming champs
She’s great
Good old Trotters golden again.
The U.S. at the Olympics are like Brazil at the World Cup,they just think they have to turn up to win!🇬🇧/
This is why we have womens sports
Damn, I'm British and I've never heard of her.
Why is not Dame Jayne Torvill and Sir Christopher Dean? Olympic perfection 40 years ago.

It was the great training facilities. Nothing to do with drugs.
Outstanding career and proud to wear the union Jack, what a shame that the British public are being victimised for displaying it in public!
What a waste of lottery money
You're weird.
Congratulations on being significantly slower than the men
Slower than you?
