Great Video... Exactly what i was looking for but couldn't find before i took mine into the shop to have it done. Looking forward to more videos of R9T Diy's please.
Im stoked you found it useful :-). I love these bikes! If you have any questions that I may be able to help you with during your install, let me know, Id be glad to help. :-)
Thanks Travis, im glad you found it useful😀. Though, if you're planning to install clipons, I would recommend following my other similiar video on Clip-Ons (Triple Tree Method). It starts the same but shows an alternative and faster approach (just skip past the handlebar removal part).
How is the steering with the clip ons? I test drove one yesterday with the same clip ons and it felt like i was driving a truck. The bike did not want to lean in. Had the shift my weight when cornering in. Maybe the tire pressure or the stock stear dampener? Besides from that i came off the bike whit a smile on my face
Hi @kristofdecaluwe4, I bet you had a smile on your face for sure😃. They are great bikes! I know what you are saying about "driving a truck". The reason is that the distance between the clipons to the center of the bike is less than with the standard bars which reduces the leverage. This means a little more effort is required to initiate the countersteer into a corner. But in my experience even racing on track around tight hairpin corners with clipons, you quickly adapt. One of the reasons the reduced leverage feels like " driving a truck " is simply that the R9T has heavy tubed rims. Replacing the rims with carbon rims solves this problem for racing, but it's not necessary for on-street and it's not ideal if you ride streets with the occasional pothole😆. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience with others on my channel 👍. All the best with your search for a new bike.
Hi Venom 13, these specific ones are "cheapies" as I'm racing this R9T and bars are the first to get clobber during a lay down. The bars & clamps do the job, but I wouldn't recommend them for a dedicated street bike, because the bolts are rubbish and I ended up replacing those with a much better quality set. But even still the clamp threads are also low quality. If your looking for street, I would recommend buying something from a European manufacture rather than these.
One last thing Venom 13. Once you have a pair of clip-ons to install, I'd recommend installing them via the "Triple Tree Method" rather than the "Fork Drop Method" if you're comfortable with removing the stearing stem nut, then it will be less overall work. If you have a question, feel free to post it here and I'll gladly give you a hand with your install.

Ah Nick, I misread your post. 🤪. Hopefully I'll have a vid on the next thing you plan to install 😀
