- Chris has been getting some more track time. The guys from Pier City Cycles have a built a couple of BMW R NineT track bikes, we've been to Brands Hatch to try them out. You might be surprised just how good they are.

Cheers for the feature, guys! It was great to have you visit and sling a leg over our rides.
Love what the guys at pcc do. They've supplied me with plenty of bits for my 9t. Great to see them getting some recognition. 👍
This is right up my alley. Love Cafe bikes but am not into style for style's sake. The entire gendre came about 100% because of function, not form, and I love a return to that. Great video as always.
Brilliant guys. As much as I despise hipsters all looks nonsense and living among them for many years I really appreciate the true passion. Lovely blokes. Thanks, excellent video.
Wow those R NineT bikes sound awesome!
Chris always gets an instant like from me, keep up the content!
Cheers
Cheers for the insights. Absolutely love the R nine T - name notwithstanding.
Pier city is the bomb. These guys treat me so well despite being 3000 miles away!!!
Thanks Chris, this is also what i realy like, and did, racing on big twins.
Not for the fastest lap time on that track, but for the pure fun of the torque beasts.
The BMW's or FTR1200 bring so many smiles, and after, you can ride them home and still have lots of fun. They are a class of their own.
You have a great job that lets you do awesome fun things.
Great video! It bought back memories, I broke a collarbone at Druids when my Greeves Silverstone decided to seize during a practice day way back when. 👏🌹🇦🇺✌️
These guys also produce excellent content on RUclips for RnineT owners from the basics to some very classy modifications.
what is the name of their channel, please?
Amazing!!! i really like the r nine t on track!!
The race version looks stunning ! I want one
If anyone is interested: I have a heavily modified 9T which I *punish* with knee-down canyon carving and track days and I've put a lot of leaned over load into the final drive bearing, resulting in failures, the most recent being this past weekend! It's about $500 to replace and, for me, comes with the territory or "regular maintenance" on this machine, about once every three years. I think it's worth a mention that while the shaft drive, single sided swing arm is terrific, BMW didn't really engineer them for sports bike styles of abuse......
The guys at PCC have gone above and beyond normal customer service and produce stunning bikes constantly, one of which being my own that'll I'll get back in couple of days! Can't wait and cannot praise Rory and Stu enough. Absolute pleasure to deal with and wouldn't have anyone else work on my RnineT.
Just brilliant ... some beautiful kit there.
A more relaxed track day for bike lovers!
My kind of hipster bike: looks good, rides better! Loved it!
this vid made my day.
I love this so much!!!!!!
The golden wheels on the track version look fantastic. Where were they taken from?
An old R1200RT 👍🏽
sounds like an old school war plane lol. love it!
Cool stuff
videos like this almost makes me wish i wasn't such a shut in so i could get out and get involved with all kinds of different stuff like this.
almost.
Chris make me watch and enjoy a video about one hell of a boring bike. Cool story, cool shop, cool people
Hipsters in Brighton?
Didn't see that coming.
How easy is to graze the road with the engine?
Good video! Good bike! I have a question: is the riding position more fun and more fast than original one?
Does Chris have his own youtube channel?Perhaps a road to returning to motorcycle racing?
can you drag the valve covers though?
Yet to see on You Tube why BMW Rs are such an extraordinary motor. I rode my brothers old R80 for about a year once and loved the comfort and handling. Those bikes rarely needed any major maintenance under 100,000 kms. I'd really like to know why those boxer motors were/ are so good.
What handle bars are used?
2:36 Omg that frame flex and suspension bounce.... scary as shit.
I’d GLADY buy an R9t-“rr”
or “m” version
The high exhaust reminds me of my r1100s (a 22 year old beauty)
Seeing that gs I didn’t realize pier city worked on earlier oilheads !
Bmw HP 2
Just about anything can be better than Charbucks.
carbon valve cover on the right, magnesium cover on the left....cool to see the carbon one is scuffed to hell and still going strong!
Qualcuno sa’ che cerchi montano le moto nei video ?
👍
Well it is not that farfetched that the R Nine T would make a fun "track bike". I doubt it is that much different compared to the old BMW cup bikes.
'something like that' yeah... His humour is as crude as mine
The removal of the airbox gives no gain in power/torque, just for hipster cred only.
It does, however, lose some weight. We then rely on the adaptive fuelling unit to do the rest. Just for ref.
Sorry guys but I think that it’s fairly well known and documented in the 9T community that the air box delete results in a significant loss in power, about 10% as some say … despite the cool looks and and induction sounds it’s pretty bad in terms of engine performance. Even with an agressive remap … despite the 2kg gained, it doesn’t makes up for the power and torque loss IMHO
@@ParisGentlemandriver Been a long time BMW rider/own mechanic, it never ceases to amaze me how much time, trouble and dollars some R9T owners will put into their bikes and do nothing about the bike's horrible dangerous suspension. Modding/changing the suspension on an R9T is a must, the bike then becomes a good thing to actually ride, not just look at.
@@ParisGentlemandriver we've seen bikes with air box removals and remapping on the dyno push a power increase of approximately 15bhp and can back that up with data 👍🏽
@@eternallearner8185which version? Remember the Urban, Pure and Scrambler have the conventional forks, etc whilst the roadster like mine has the USD adjustable forks and adjustable shock. I would not call my bike “dangerous”
KTM adventure build 😁
It's just about finished Jay, we're editing the footage now.
@@BikeWorldTVshow mega excited for that to be released! I was worrying the new race program was going to get in the way of the ktm build 😅
7:01 "one of these is even into crossfit" hahaha neither have stepped into a gym in their life lol
You mean to say the English would never sneer at your bike, no matter how it looks? Lmfao!
Too bad there wasn't any pov on the bike
anyone up for a craft beer?
Dude, get a haircut, FFS...
W⚓️
I have a R9T... one of the worst bikes I have owned... uncomfortable, useless harsh suspension....
The R1200R is the better bike in my opinion, I had a 2017 and it was great
@@JayGee6996 Mine is a 2016.... I hate the fact that it has no slipper clutch and no fuel gauge. I had the suspension modified which help a bit... For the price there a much better bikes to buy!
@@TheJWC56RSA "it has no slipper clutch and no fuel gauge" lmao boo hoo

Didn’t like the rninets. killed the aesthetic completely, unfortunately.
