- I had luck on my side when I decided to film the Western at Marston Green as I had a good chance of getting blocked by a Avanti train going south.
But it all worked out great as a northbound Avanti train lost time at Coventry by 4 mins which made the stopper late at Marston Green, and the Western was stuck behind the class 350 to Rugeley Trent Valley which give me some great Western footage.
Luck wasn't on my side at Birmingham New St as the LE move back to the SVR was running late and didn't go through its booked platform.
Nice to see a Western back on the mainline thanks for filming
No problem 👍. Thank you very much for watching.
Very interesting, the 57 picked up it's train well and the Western was a treat 😊 Thanks Mike , well caught 👍
Glad you enjoyed the sight of a Western back on the mainline Ian, regards Mike.
Despite the setback at New Street Mike you still managed to get some great footage of the Western. What a fantastic loco she is. Best regards mate, Colin.
My first shot was well worth missing my tea for Colin, I was very happy with the Westerns performance at Marston Green.
Cheers Mike.
Super video Mike. Great to see the Western running on the main line.
Wasn't it Allan and it sounded blooming great when it powered past me following a class 350.
Good catches Mike.
Cheers Gaz for watching.
At least you got *SOME* footage of it
I was able to capture it light locomotive at Ealing Broadway, and then I headed west, planning to capture it at Reading but as it was up the arse of the Elizabeth line train I was on, I bailed out at Twyford and caught her thrashing through there and didn't do too bad overall
That kid running around in front of the camera 📷 was a bloody nuisance
Thank you Robert for commenting on my video, was great to see it on the mainline again.
Nicely captured at both locations Mike. Cheers, Jeff.
Thank you Jeff, I was very lucky not to have got bowled at Marston Green. ATB Mike.
Great done video Mike and great sound :)
Nice wasn't it Simon.
Great footage of the Western 👍
Some interesting creatures on New Street 😂
Thanks Paul, I would use a stronger word for them.
@@antman09ful1 😂😂
Great video Mike. I was at Canley to see it and as it came out of platform 4 at Coventry it was still pulling hard as it passed by. Fabulous sounding locomotive...
Yes it was a great sight to see, I did think about Canley, but decided to keep local which worked out perfect for me.
cheers for watching.
@@antman09ful1 I understand 45 118 has been main line registered..
Yes that is right LSL tour in the summer we hope from Bristol T/M to York I think.
@@antman09ful1 I hope so. My favourite diesel. I will definitely make the time to get and see it.....
Great shots Mike 👍👍👍
Cheers Robert.
Well covered Mike. I didn't bother to check the LE move as assumed it was going the direct way rather than the scenic route lol. Regards, Brian.
Thank you Brian, regards Mike.
and it was ACTUALLY running as Western Champion for once !
Yes, cheers for your interest Edwin.
I was on that ! You caught us on the platform end at brum!
Great stuff, I bet you enjoyed travelling behind that Western, I was on the last railtour to Scarborough it did eight years ago.
Thank you for watching my video.
Good to see one of them on the mainline and plenty out to see it.👍👍
Oh yes lots came out to see this great loco David.
Well captured Mike, certainly generated a lot of interest it seems!
Yes I was amazed at the amount of enthusiasts out for this Wizzo Andrew.
Thank you for watching, Mike.
Great video Mike. Love the Westerns ( well all the hydraulics). Can't wait to see Champion on the mainline.
Yes I believe that will be in June Phil, I got a great sound from this Western, take care Mike.
Good to see the western out again mike
Yes It was Richards.
Excellent video Mike!! Great to see her out on the mainline running a tour!! Was a lovely pass you got there and interesting to see it in New St.
Oh yes Jacob I was very pleased the way it all turned out a MG, just a shame the LE move was early as it was booked through platform 7, but because it was early went through platform 5.
Cheers Mike.
Fantastic Mike. It looked in excellent condition.
Cheers Pete, I was lucky certain trains ran late to get that super thrash at my local. Cheers Pete.
Excellent footage 👍
I saw it storming through Ealing Broadway
I bet that was a great sight mate, as that was the line it operated on all them years ago.
Cheers for watching my footage Mike.
Amazing shots and captures there Mike. Nice sounds and livery. Good to see her on the mainline, and wow some epic thrash. Another gooden from you! Very nice indeed! Really enjoyed, thanks for sharing! Take care, have an awesome day and all the best! Jamie
This was indeed a gooden Jamie, such a great sound it made powering up at my local station. Regards Mike.
@@antman09ful1Absolutely Mike, you did very well. Cheers, Jamie
Great video
Thanks.
Great catch Mike. Surprised you went to New Street to see it as well as its so busy there
Well it was the easier option Ben, all would have been ok if it ran to time, but I was pleased I filmed it apart from some crazy one's about.
Mike, Great captures and you should know it's a much better view from the edge of the platform 😂 Regards, John
John its about respect for others, shame there is still some who don't have any with our hobby.
Thank you for your interest. Regards Mike.
Beatiuful video, greetings 🚂👍👋
Thank you sir.
Nice bit of chugging there at Marston Green :)
I was very happy how things turned out Gaz.
Nice footage at Marston Green Mike just a dam shame you ended up at New St
Well the plan was to catch a train to Barnt Green, then decided not to.
Great stuff. Nice seeing the Western out on the main line. The enthusiasts at Marston Green should know better than to stand well over the yellow line.
Couldn't agree more.
The new engines sound great. It sounds a bit like a fast patrol boat
Ok, fair enough.
You like the yellow lines then? What about the lumpy bits. The Nanny state. Climbing trees to be banned soon.
I agree about the Nanny state these days.
Sounds like German World War 2 aircraft - some of these had Maybach engines.
Oh yes, but its great Daniel.
Great footage there of the Western and 57 Mike, they sounded incredible, pity about your shot of it departing light engine but what can you do? Typical inconsiderate kids. Anyway didnt ruin your shot thats the main thing. Enjoyed cheers Nick.
Well Its what you have to put up with at major stations as you know Nick, but if it hadnt ran early all would have been ok.
Thank you for your comment which is very much appreciated, Mike.
Pity the mk2s mean you cant hear (or smell ) it
Yes I get you, cheers for watching.
