Barry Larkin should have a video, he's usually forgotten about compared to the other 90s shortstops like Jeter, A-Rod, and Nomar, but his prime was elite and he's easily a contender for the best Reds player alongside Rose and Bench.
Hell yea, I'm an Astros and Yankees fan so I got no bias here, Larkin was an understated legend. Legit one of the best offensive SS of all time, whole career with one franchise, he was super consistent and just did everything the right way. Great player, Cinci should be proud to have him as one of theirs. He's the Biggio of the Reds.
@@NYY300Completely forgot about Morgan but he only spent 8 of his 22 years with them (granted he was absolutely elite during that time and was an All-Star every year with them) and Joey Votto and Frank Robinson put up more WAR for the Reds than Morgan did. He honestly deserves his own video though, his peak was unbelievable and is the reason he's widely considered the best second baseman in history.
People like to accuse Belle of being a juicer, which I believe him when he says he wasn’t. I loved his response. “If I was taking steroids, I probably could have hit 60 homers every year.” The dude was problematic as hell but we need more dudes like him. Social media has made too many athletes fake as hell
Belle wasn't a juicer, he was a corker. Now there's a debate over whether corking a bat really helps the ball fly more, but the fact he did it and tried to cheat to get competitive advantage still makes him a P.o.S., even if you don't count faking an injury, quitting right after getting a $70M deal or something like that, and being a horrible human being.
I had the pleasure of meeting him in 1996 at a restaurant in downtown Cleveland. I was 16 and honestly nervous to even approach his table. I finally worked up the courage and asked for his autograph. He smiles and says of course. That opened up the floodgates and suddenly there's10 people around him. This little girl with her dad couldn't have been more than 5 or so. She walks right up to Albert and says that her dad loved him and never believed he did "the roids." Albert laughed and said he appreciated that, even shaking her obviously nervous dad's hand. Encouraged by the laughter, the little girl just blurts out: *"Yeah, he said you don't get roided rage. You're just batsh+t crazy."* I have NEVER in my life seen a white guy get whiter than her poor dad, who clearly believed his time on earth had come to an end. After a second, Albert just busted out laughing hysterically. He signed her napkin: "Your dad might be right. Your buddy, Albert Belle." 😂😂😂
Yeah they only played a strike shortened 144 games that year. Imagine if they played a full 162 games, he cld of possibly finished with 60 Homers & 60 Doubles.
This video made me happy. What run production year in year out! In my opinion he deserved more years on the ballot maybe even a spot in the HOF due to his insane prime. And I agree with Belle that the best feeling in baseball is driving in runs. Nothing beats the high you feel after driving in runs with a clutch hit
Thanks for doing this on Albert Belle. Many people talk about the 1995 season, and we all know he should have won the MVP. But Belle's 1998 season with the Sox was also incredible with 49/152/.328 with 200 hits and it's sad he wasn't elected as an all star that season. But yea those Indians teams were amazing with Lofton, Manny, Belle and Thome. Please do one on Thurman Munson who should also be in the HOF

Just based off his performance over the span of his career, he is a Hall of Famer. No doubt. It’s stupid to say this Belle shouldn’t be in the HOF because he only played 12 seasons. He has better overall stats than some guys who played 20+ seasons. 8X550=4400ABs…

That's why the mvp is meaningless and so is being in the hall of fame. They voted purely on the basis of hating alpha's
It's what he did on the field that should make him a HOF guy. I love Ty Cobb's career too & he was more dis-liked than Belle. Maybe Ty' got in because the writers didn't get so butt hurt back then. The power of voting should be put in the hands of the fans. Writers don't know anymore than any fan after all & don't have that personal connection that can make a writer bias for or against a player based on if they got along with them or not. Lots of others that should be in the Hall also but Alberts the 1st that comes to my mind always.
Sure, baseball writers want all players to hit .300 and raise all our country's orphans. Hall of Fame for sure. Between the lines, Albert Belle was a show stopper, full stop. AND he stole bases as a "big man". Who in the current day of the game can hit for average, homers, rbi's, obp, steals, hits, ops for just 5 years in a row? Hate on him all you want, but you would want him on your team! Be honest. His career was amazing.
Belle was a terror. The best player in baseball for a stretch. His legacy is tarnished by a bunch of soft, spineless media members who he refused to bend the knee and act the way they wanted him to act. The media screwed him because they didn’t like him. He was the most feared hitter in baseball and has a strong argument for Cooperstown. The same soft media members won’t let it happen proving yet again they should not be the ones with the ability to enshrine.
This man was robbed of the 1995 AL MVP all because the sports writers didn't like him which is a crock of bullshit. Barry Bonds was an asshole to the media but they never discredited him of giving him his flowers from 2001-2004 with the NL MVP.
If Belle was better liked he'd be in the Hall of Fame. His WAR/162 isn't that far off Kirby Puckett's. But Kirby waited until after he was elected to be unlikable.
Well actually science says the cork bat does not help hit HR’s. They probably make it harder so hitting a HR with a corked bat is actually impressive 🤣🤣🤣
There's a balance between bat speed and inertia. A heavier bat will always make the ball go further in relation to the speed of the swing, but you have to be strong enough to swing the bat at nearly top speed, your bat speed with your game bat should be pretty close to your speed with a plastic wiffle ball bat, meaning about the same speed you can pull your hands through the zone with no weight.

I forgot just how consistently good he was, and i thought he fell off after leaving Cleveland. Maybe it was cuz he was so easy to hate lol
He was a hot head no doubt, but one of the best pure power hitters in history.
One of my favorite hitters he could swat and fight lol ⚾️
deadass sounds like bro couldn't catch a break.
Did I mentioned Michael Young?
George Brett
Belle was a terror. The best player in baseball for a stretch. His legacy is tarnished by a bunch of soft, spineless media members who he refused to bend the knee and act the way they wanted him to act. The media screwed him because they didn’t like him. He was the most feared hitter in baseball and has a strong argument for Cooperstown. The same soft media members won’t let it happen proving yet again they should not be the ones with the ability to enshrine.
Insane prime of Troy tulowitski
This man was robbed of the 1995 AL MVP all because the sports writers didn't like him which is a crock of bullshit. Barry Bonds was an asshole to the media but they never discredited him of giving him his flowers from 2001-2004 with the NL MVP.
Another one 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Albert was always big I don't believe he was roiding. A crazy athlete.
Two more injury free seasons and nobody would be able to find an excuse to keep him out of the Hall
Without a doubt!
ALBERT BELLE DEFINITELY BELONGS IN THE MLB ⚾ HALL OF FAME ..
Beast mode
He's a HoF and its embarrassing he's not in
Joey Belle was pretty good too.
Albert not in The Hall - that’s A bunch of crap. One of the best, most reliable power hitters of all time. Politics !
If Belle was better liked he'd be in the Hall of Fame. His WAR/162 isn't that far off Kirby Puckett's. But Kirby waited until after he was elected to be unlikable.
Day 2 of asking for Ernie banks
Well actually science says the cork bat does not help hit HR’s. They probably make it harder so hitting a HR with a corked bat is actually impressive 🤣🤣🤣
I'm genuinely curious, do you have a link with evidence of this?
There's a balance between bat speed and inertia. A heavier bat will always make the ball go further in relation to the speed of the swing, but you have to be strong enough to swing the bat at nearly top speed, your bat speed with your game bat should be pretty close to your speed with a plastic wiffle ball bat, meaning about the same speed you can pull your hands through the zone with no weight.
@@jeffn9952it was on Baseball doesn’t exist I believe were they broke it down. I think it was in their video about cheating in baseball.
@@ImGonnasayit Okay thanks
He was a bad man and an awesome baseball player
