This vid has a few small hiccups here and there, but its the best I can do until I figure out a better solution to uploading these. let me know if you spot some major things wrong with it, and I'll try to see what I can do. Sorry I can't do much better. Btw, I am aware of the freeze at the end of the vid during the Skyfire ads. Sorry Skyfire, couldn't get that right. I hope this is Adequate enough for you guys! Enjoy!!!
Watched this from start to finish, and loved every second! Best quality I've found of this program on here! You did a good job with it! Also loved the Ghost Train upload!
This VHS was given to me as a kid on my 10th birthday along with a H.O. Scale model of the engine and tender from my grandpa. We watched this film together 100’s of times, and I can’t thank you enough for the memories you returned to me. It’s weird to cry watching a train, but the times we spent together watching this were so special. Thanks again!
I've been a huge fan of this video since it's release. I'd pay good money to see all of the footage that didn't make it into the final "cut". There's so many miles that are unaccounted for. Thanks for uploading an amazing piece of my childhood.
The miles in California are very few mostly because of the California Highway Patrol not cooperating, which is unfortunate because that is the locomotives home state. Reference to the incident: 1:40:53
When I was a kid, I watched the mail order VHS tape that's only a 1/2 hour long and always wondered why they cut it so suddenly after the train left Dunsmere, OR, never knowing there was a complete version. I feel like Jim Mitchell lied to me all these years...
Dunsmuir, CA is along I-5 in Northern California near Mt. Shasta and around 100 miles before the Oregon border, I lived there as a kid and saw SP 4449 come through when the Freedom Train made its run in 1975. Our family later moved to Klamath Falls, OR since dad worked for SP and I saw SP 4449 fly past me a couple more times over the years, such a majestic locomotive, they did a great job of restoring and preserving her. Glad you have similar memories as I do.
I don't know why anyone would sell an abridged copy unless it was unauthorized. I do remember having another Skyfire video called Giants On The Rails, about an hour long with 10 locomotives, the Daylight being the last one, but they recycled ALL her footage from this video. I was hoping to see new footage. This Daylight Express video is the pinnacle of train videos, nothing else comes close. "The mother of all train shoots."
@@stupidsmart-phone6911 It's been years but I think my folks ordered it off an infomercial. One was Thunder on the Rails (NNRy 40, also roughly a half hour) and the other was the one mentioned. My only guess was they wanted something that would hold a 6 year old's attention. Both did their job of helping my train fixation along lol

Hey how are you doing? I actually have the same copy of this exact DVD. Who doesn't love Jim Mitchell? He is a great narrator no mistake about it. I love the 4449 and it's my favorite steam locomotive that is closest to my heart since I love steam trains a lot. Don't you like the 4449 as well?
Grew up with the VHS since I was a little kid, Definitely shaped how much I love railroading, SP 4449 is by far The Most Beautiful Train In The World, and is my number one favorite locomotive. I'll always look at 4449 with love and respect for the commanding grace and power she epitomizes. It would be fair to say my life would be much more different without this video in my life.

It's suitable and I have the 30 minute version. Riding the Rails.

This gives me childhood memories, i know i was born in 2003 but i remember watching this over and over again
Definitely hands down the best documentary about the 4449 that I've ever seen, really well done!
A very sharp looking consist. I believe we are fortunate that there are enthusiastic people restoring and running these trains.
The end credits song the best I've ever heard.
Have a vhs recording of this and I’ll always think of my childhood. No I’m not crying your crying.
I can't count how many times I rented this video from my small town library. Still laugh at Doyles orange story 😅
Loved renting this film from my local library as well! as well as The Ghost Train, They were right next to each other on the shelf. I miss those days
Oh my god… it is beautiful!
Ha, I was at that Railfair. Really cool seeing how 4449 made the trip down to it.
4449 is still my favorite steam locomotive and this documentary proves it
I love the air horn!
Could you make the end credits song its own video possibly?

Who sang the song "Go Bum Again" in this video?
It's called "Fast freight", unfortunately we do not know who sang this version.

Anyone know the music at 7:38 and 31:54? I've managed to find pretty much everything but those two.
The one at 7:38 is Cheek to Cheek by Steve Byrd, still havent found the other one tho.
