- Former Washington, D.C., police officer Michael Fanone joins Major Garrett on the 300th episode of "The Takeout." Fanone recounts how he was "frantically searching for ways to survive" when he was attacked at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Fanone says he voted for Donald Trump in 2016 but now believes he "doesn't represent any of us, he only represents his own self-interest." Fanone also discusses his relationship with lawmakers, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

he said talking about it helps ,he looks better than her ,she was a officer who testified ,she said it was like war" and you could see the stress it still was causing her, i wonder how is she doing now ,but he looks like he's making it thru, and i know it must be very frustrating waiting for justice to be served ,that can help speed of the recovery psychologically,after all they went thru ,that day and again thank god for Him and all those others officers' who prevented a coup and a handful of republicans ,yall have no idea how close america came to being made into a imperfect union not a better one ,we still standing thanks to those brave officers,whjere is there justice?? i can see trauma ,but he's dealing with it

Can find her Inauguration presentation, but additionally, with a search, find other people doing a recitation of her poem which is what many consider a prayer. What being American is….it brings a tear to the eye. We are Americans when we stand against the evil of that day.

We’ve had awful things that burn in the memory.
Elizabeth Eckford was followed by a hideous mob who taunted her for entering a school.
She was 15. She walked alone with school books on her arm.
The hideous faces they had, screaming at a young girl. 65 years later, utter revulsion to think of the cruelty.
These Capitol Officers were doing their duty, as did Elizabeth.
How dare these monsters intrude on lives.
The officers showed breathtaking courage. Monuments will be built, their names etched in granite.

I seriously hope the officer not only sues the people who harmed him but also the people who facilitated and encouraged the crowd to go to the event with harm in mind.
