- I Turned My Phone Off For 7 Days and This Happened. I've wanted to do a digital detox for a long time, travelling to the west coast of Scotland in a Mclaren GT seemed like the perfect opportunity to quit my phone for a supercar. I explore Scotland whilst understanding what life can be like with no phone, internet or social media.

I'm so happy Taz got the win. Absolutely awesome.
Good for you mate. Many people need to put their phones down and enjoy the moment!
Couldn’t agree more it’s totally changed my perspective
Great Video. I don’t do any social media, watch occasional motorcycle reflated RUclips videos. Prefer not to take my phone if I go out, more people should do this. They will see so much more. Well done Taylor.
I lived over 40 years without a mobile phone. Navigated all over the U.K. and Europe with a map. If you broke down you had to walk to an un destroyed payphone. We all survived…
That's because all the other stuff was maintained and worked an people were used to it. You phones someone on a landline, arranged to meet and to both turned up on time. Paper maps were everywhere. Librarys had books about stuff. We read the news and thought about it. It was simple, BUT: I remember when a girlfriend call me up to say she have broken down and I couldn't find her. Last month my Samba school went to Germany by 5 different routes and we all got to the same place and when the organizers changed plans, we all changed ours. We had our documents on our phones. We took photos and videos of out trip, BUT BUT : most of the photos were taken better by other people, relying to on people to look at the phone when they are in the pub is foolish. Much of the news on our phone is fake. Perhaps we need a middle ground.
@@thewrongbike7709 LMAO yea it was all perfect. People turned up on time? What planet did you live on then, if you were even an adult. The difference was we were more resourceful, not winging shrinking violets. As for things maintained, please note my comment a “Working Payphone” OS maps are still more efficient that a Sat Nav, no drop outs etc. I still carry them in my car, no batteries required.
Woh hold on! Are we having a soft launch of the Mrs! 😂
Great video Taylor, I think more people should try this more often and actually enjoy life without the constant pull to their phones!
this video had a weird effect on me, ive known deep down that my phone distracts me from life. but society now almost requires you to have a smartphone, I'm now trying to figure out a way to make my life work without a smartphone.
Thanks Taylor! cracking video as always!
As someone who 1- lives on the same street as that McLaren store yet has never gone in it and 2- has a crippling phone addiction, I greatly enjoyed this.
The quality of this video is unbelievable
Grazie mille Ale!
Oh, what torture! Spending days on end with your significant other visiting beautiful places & (gasp!) BONDING! 🙀😹 Brilliant & adorable! Carry on! 😉💙✌️
Will power is something most people don't have, but you showed you have it! But after hearing that phone with all the bells going off, it looks like you are going to be busy for a while. At least you got to drive the Mclaren. See hard work does pay off.
😎😎
Incredible scenery, glad you got to enjoy that McLaren phone free!
Thanks will!
Enjoyed that - was checking my phone whilst watching too, terrible 🤣
I did the same watching it back don’t worry 😂
Great video! Great to see some of Scotland and the mclaren sounds and looks amazing! Might actually turn my phone off on my days off after watching this! 😊
This video turned out to be far better than I expected it to be..... 🤔
Thanks for posting this up Taylor! 😃👍❤🏍
Randy
This comment turned out to be nicer than I expected too 😁 cheers
@@tmac77 🤣😎👊Cheers!
As always, great video. Considering how busy your life is with all that the race team etc entails that took some will power to turn off all social media.
Fantastic that you and your partner got to spend quality time together.
Followed you, brother and Dad throughout racing and I am not 'blowing smoke up your axse' but this world is a far better place with you and you family on it. You really are, all, decent and humble human beings. Wish you all well and the very best.🏍🏍
Nice one Taylor, brilliant video as always 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks
My work is very tech orientated so the phone is always with me and always on... and i hate it. I recently toured Spain and the Pyrenees on my motirbike. It was 7 days of not being able to use my phone for large portions of the day. It was bliss. I would happily bin the smartphone, however..... I would get lost in a phone box as my sense of direction is the worst in the world. Great video always mate.
Thanks 😎
Great video & very relevant to where we are as a civilization, it's very concerning to see how attached people of all ages are attached to their phones.
Agreed!
Hello T Mac. any chance buying some tickets and how. cheers.
I would be happy daily driving your m3 😁 great video. .
Thanks! 👍
Look like you both had a mega time. Great to see
Thanks 😎
I ditched my smart phone 2 years ago, using a nokia with no camera is ok except for occassional texting, no bluetooth connection in the car and van is hardly missed, never going back
Im tempted to do the same!
Brilliant !
Thanks Rob 😁
how can someone who has raced super bikes on all the tracks you have get excited by a Mclaren?
Any advice or tips for cutting down on phone time?
Absolutely! The thing that’s helped me the most since is putting my phone on do not disturb mode, I’ve realised notifications get me back on my phone and then I end up in a spiral of using it again
@@tmac77 👊🏼
Surely you have satvan in the car?
I'd love to get rid of my phone but need it for work
I do but that would have defeated the object of the challenge of being disconnected so I kept it off.
Who videoed you (on their phone?)
Punching fella 👍
I agree 😂
Hello T Mac have you had the BMW superbike draw, just wonder if was me, ha
As soon as all the tickets are sold it will be drawn!
I watched this without using you tubes
Just turn your notifications off, that’s what I do
That’s worked so well for me since!
Aww what that garage is 5 mins from me
Ya see what you can do with a little effort...... The World is now Yours.... Go Explore and see where it takes you..... I once drove a Race/Test Truck from Woking to Jerez just from Memory.... No Sat Nav.... Not even a Map..... Because on previous trips, I took the time to pay attention to where I was going...... LOOK at the World not ya Frickin Phone...... :-)))
Still game? So funny.
Turn your notifications off, it's not rocket science
"I'm about to turn my phone back on after seven days of having it off". Not a bad way to spend a week, eh?
How money did you save by not shaving?
Saved about £400 last few years haven’t had to buy a razor yet I just wait for a strong wind
all saints like the girl group? 😊
I like your sister
Taylor, how can you be bored when you have your little honey with you? 🤷♂️
True!
She has a weird accent
is she from govern?
Is this confirmation Mr mackenzie has a lady friend.
