As a musician myself I must say that keeping on doing the same thing after 10 years it's pretty boring and unsatisfying creatively. The AM album is great and the guy doesn't wannna wear t-shirts and rugged hair anymore, no big deal. I think he just evolved as a musician and as a man. If you keep on doing the same thing you will be considered a product of that time period.
