There are two left in Des Moines. I live in a small town so it was always the place to go if we went to the big city and still is. I loved the old decor with the nets and other fishing decor on the walls. Like you were on an old ship. They used to have the fryer up front so you could watch them fry fish and crumbs. I do ask for extra crumbs. Lol
Yes, someone else just told us that. I guess I assumed that one must have shut down, when they shut down the one in Pigeon Forge. I'm glad to know there's still one locally in the Smokies. Thanks for watching and for letting me know.
Wow! I’m in Lebanon, Va every week day. My granddaughter attends a Christian school there. She is 5 yrs old, and she loves the chicken at Bonanza. I live about 20 minutes north, in an area called Wardell.
That's awesome. I would love to have a Bonanza that close. My wife really loved the chicken that she got on Saturday, as well. Also, glad that your granddaughter is getting a good Christian education. That means a lot.
I'm glad to see a long johns silver it's been years since they closed up here in Augusta Georgia they made the best fish enjoy and safe travels God bless
My family is from Southwest Virginia I own a home not far from Lebanon Va and yes I have been to lenior and hickory nc..Bonanza and Long John Silvers are very popular still with all ages in the surrounding counties..But I also own a home in Bristol Va and 2.5 miles from this home is a Long John Silvers also..it is also a popular restaurant in Bristol Va on exit 5...enjoy..have a blessed trip..❤from a Indiana girl living on the Virginia Tennessee line now with her golden retriever buddy 🎉❤🎉
We used to have a LJS but they switched to Arbys more than 10 years ago. There is one about 1 1/2 hours away that I go to if I'm in the area. There used to be Arthur Treacher's many, many moons ago that my grandmother would take me to. They were pretty much the same. My go to is fish and shrimp combo.
I'm glad that you have one close to you, that you can still visit. I wish we still did. Thank you so much for watching and for commenting. And I agree with you about the crunchies!
Oh my goodness between watching you guys and VAfunseekrs I’m getting home sick lol. We used to live in Castlewood and we went to that Long John Silvers! It was always good. A Long John recently opened here in Fredericksburg VA. Really enjoyed your video - Thanks 😊
I really like the dinners! Fish, chicken, fish, shrimp, fish sandwich, popcorn shrimp, green beans, cole slaw, little corn, LOVE STRARRY LEMONADE! MY FIRST EXPERIENCE IN NEW JERSEY WHEN I WAS 7.
We have one left here in Winston-Salem. Its a Long John Silvers/ KFC place. We had one on Hanes Mall Blvd about 6 months ago but it has closed up. No doubt. The last time my brother and I went there the tables were so dirty and sticky . Glad yall found one that was actually clean!
Yes, a couple of other people have mentioned that one. Didn't realize it was there. I think someone actually mentioned about the one on Hanes Boulevard, as well. They must not have realized it has closed recently.
Sorry I always have long stories! When we visited Mom in Marion, VA we always went to LJS and loved it. We didn’t have one where we lived. I see that the one in Marion closed but there are 4 within 30-45 miles with Lebanon being the nearest. Here in Ocala, FL there is one 2 miles from my home. I still love it though I’m thirsty for hours after eating there. My favorite is the fried fish. The chocolate cheesecake is wonderful. Small slice but costs less than at Cheesecake Factory. When we lived in Toledo there was a Long John Silver’s and Wendy’s at the entrance of our subdivision. My son and his friends would ride their bikes to both places. At LJS they would pay a nickel for crispies and get a free cup of water. At Wendy’s they would get a free cup of water and eat free crackers and ketchup. Now you have to ask for the crackers but at that time they were with the condiments. He will be 54 next week and is an attorney. He was 10-13 when we lived in Toledo. How lucky he was to have such a carefree childhood.
Yes, time certainly have changed. I remember my childhood with fondness, although we didn't have many of the modern conveniences that are common now. You mentioned about being thirsty after eating it. That is something that I always experience now. As a child, I don't remember that being an issue. I guess it's the saltiness in whatever type of batter they dip it in. But I was very thirsty all the rest of that day.
I grew up eating LJS and I also love the crispies. I know your area and I’m in Sparta, NC. If you’re ever in the northern part of the state, there’s LJS in Galax, VA just across the border.
I'm lucky I have 2 long John Silvers I live in Shawsville have one ine Christiansburg and Salem I remember getting the fries boat when I was little ❤ Great Video ❤
My dad's side of the family, is from Wilkes County. My mom is from Caldwell County. I've lived in Caldwell my whole life. That's neat, that you have family around the area that we live in.
@@NCMemoryMakers it is. I haven't been down there since 2020. I have been wanting to come down and get some liver mush. I can't get it here in SWVA. If I get down that way I'll let you know. Also hoping to catch the Caldwell County Railroad running when I get to come down there.
@@HamRadioTrainsThings Yes, livermush is pretty much a North Carolina and upstate South Carolina thing. Once you cross state lines, it's hard to find, if not impossible.
@@NCMemoryMakers I found it in Kingsport, TN at an Aldi's but didn't have the same flavor as Hunters, which is the brand I like the best. I usually get it at the Ingles that's not far from Tri-County Speedway.
I think the location in downtown Sevierville is still open. It’s in front of the shopping center with harbor freight. I miss having one in town. Closest one to me now is 45 minutes away IF we don’t hit awful metro Atlanta traffic. I always get chicken planks and an order of crumbs. Crumbs were free, but they may charge for them now.
