Her, Maggie Seaver and Clair Huxtable were the most popular 1980's mothers. It's amazing the number of folks who came through the gates of Family Ties. Andrew Shue, John McCook in his pre B & B Days, two future oscar winners Tom Hanks and Geena Davis, Courtney Cox then Johnny Mathis & Deneice Williams whos ecareer went downhill because she was heavily criticized for doing a song about Dancing in an All White Town. She also sang as a backup singer for Stevie Wonder when she started out and also sang gospel.
Thursdays was the best night of the week! The Cosby show, the Simpsons, and family ties. Never changed the channel. They just don’t have programming like that anymore.
How great it would be if we could close our eyes and go back in time even if just for a little while. Those were the best days and we will never see such a wholesome, loving clean show like that anymore. Those days are gone.
Wow Tammy, you hit the nail on the head. every time I watch a re-run, and hear the opening song, It brings me back to a simpler time. And you're right when you said the wholesome, loving, clean shows are gone. But at least we got to experience those times.

Michael Gross is/was exceptional playing his father. Justine Bateman was another exceptional addition, and played Malary so well. Flawless show, with Skippy, who was a phenomenal addition.

Michael doesn't see himself as a victim. He's very sick and he understands that, but he also understands that a cure is possible and never ever giving up is the key to everything in life. Look at everything he's done already, and we're closer to a cure than ever. It's going to happen and it's all thanks to him choosing to take a traumatizing diagnosis and kick it on its head to make history. For himself and for others. He also has a wicked sense of humor, a brilliant, sharp, quick mind, a beautiful wife who's as deeply in love with him as he is with her and four gorgeous children so no, I don't see any reason to feel sorry for him. Inspired by him absolutely.
July 2023 and I'm here watching one of the most amazing realest shows. Every single one of these cast members are extraordinary.......and I bet we'll be together for a million years❤❤❤❤
They could all do a reunion movie or reboot, because they all look great, and they could write in Michael's condition for Alex and explore the struggle with laughing and tears.
I'll always love this show. Being a teenager in the '80s brought me empathy to the characters. I thought of Family Ties; I RUclipsd the show brought back so many happy memories. I will always have space in my thoughts a show that entertained and educated simultaneously made my teenage years interestingly inspiring.
Oh I get a good feeling when I hear that theme song. They all look great, God bless you all and thanks for the laughs and all the hard work. You are beautiful Justine!
It was the most incredible show! When I was younger. ..I didn't pay much attention to the whole picture ......just busy drooling over (Alex) Micheal j. Fox.....but I'm older almost 60. ...watch it with a Different perspective! And loving "Nick"! The family finally came around. .. accepting & loving NICK ( and btw. .. didn't realize how handsome Scott valentine really is .... ). Beautiful family.......the valentine's! You rule ..."family ties"! Next to the Jefferson's ...... Family matters. ... ELR!! Great....clean ...and really great for the entire family
Poor Justine. She had such a hard road.....and it shows (different than MJF, who didn't do that to himself). So grateful that she has come out on top of it all. Many blessing to her, and the rest of the cast.
I'm trying to Google but I cannot find much that Justine had a hard life. What happened? It does show in her face though but then again some people age faster than others, but she's only 53.
My favorite moment is in one of the last episodes when Skippy joins the army, and sends the Keatons a postcard in Spanish, which Dad reads aloud. The only recognizable word in the card is "Akron" (city in Ohio). Jennifer says he must be talking about something to do with Akron. In one of her finest moments, Justine Bateman asks, deadpan, how Jennifer would know since she never took Spanish. No idea why they left this in, but you can see MJF completely break character, laughing at Justine's brilliant delivery. It is such a classic moment, too great not to leave it in.
He has had PD for most of his life and said he feels more comfortable in his own skin now. They have come forward with such positive and new medications now. He's doing well, under the circumstances
@@jenpeterson3712 he's doing incredible. I'm going to study Parkinson academically thanks to him, not sure how with my learning difficulties but I will make it happen somehow because I'm going to be a tiny, tiny part of the cure. From what I've learned so far, it seems that emotions are extremely heightened when you have Parkinson's and your emotions trigger your physical state and your ticks greatly, especially when there are other triggers such as strong lights, noise, multiple people talking to you at the same time and having to sit still for a while so if you take all of that into account and you see him in social and media focused situation, it looks really bad and it's just heartbreaking to watch, but if you see him at home (when and if he shares) or in a more relaxed, intimate environment you can tell that he's simply a different person. And with him saying that he's feeling much better himself I feel that we should consider all these factors before we analyze his condition for him. It's not fair to him otherwise.
Whenever I "stumbled upon" a video of Family Ties it shockes me how rude and insensitive some people can be! Talking about appearance, judging people in so many ways and levels. I don't care how they look, who did better at a natural thing such as aging. It's not a competition! It's simply an interview with some people from the cast (maybe some of them were invited, but for whatever reason couldn't be there and that's okay!). Let's focus on enjoying this reunion, on seeing that all of them are doing ok, even after all the hardship they possibly gone through. Fox is doing fine, he is happy to be around his friends, his wife. No need to point out every single time what we all know about his condition. He is so much more than that! The typical sitcom strategy of bringing in a new kid late in the show's run when all the original kids outgrew their cuteness. The "Cousin Oliver Syndrome." Usually a sign that a show is on its way out.
