Nice reaction, the autotune was going for the alien/space theme and giving the dissonant vocals. Their B-side live performance is gas. It has that late 90's RnB vibe that is starting to trend.
Inspiration for the Music video is Japanese stereotypical pop culture, including Nintendo 64 Mario kart Rainbow road level, Hello Kitty, Sailor moon, Japanese skyline and the blue hair and blue matching clothes is inspired by the japanese Idol scene, they always wear the same matching outfit, styled in different ways. The rest of the inspiration in the music video comes from the lyrics: "Taking off from the ground it's amazing So outta this world, I'm in space now I'm going up Headin' to the stars Wouldn't trade it out for another life, no" "Oh, you rockin' with a dream team Comets droppin' when we hit the scene Oh, you rockin' with a dream team (ooh-ooh) We shootin' from another galaxy (ooh-ooh)" They are singing that they are taking off into outer space, comets dropping when they hit the scene, and that they are shooting from another galaxy (ooh-ooh), this is why they are in space on a different planet, with comets dropping, I guess the helicopter in the background is supposed to be the spaceship that they also sing about, that they just arrived in... The Group history: XG is a Japanese girl group that is trying to make it big globally, to achieve this, XG´s japanese label reached out to South Korea. Japan and Korea has been working together for many many years, first japan was to open its music industry to Korea, koreans where to learn japanese and release their songs in japanese, this is why MANY korean k-pop bands sang in Japanese and did tours in Japan. This was a joint agreement between Korea and Japan, after South Korea gave up the ban on Japanese culture in their country, and thereby also in their entertainment industry. I believe that BOA was the first to pop up from this joint agreement. Now XG is a result of this same agreement in Korea, The Japanese label Avex created a new label in Korea called XGALX, this joint company was to promote the japanese group in Korea, with Korean knowhow and international experience. XG is a japanese group, that is going for international recognition (this is why they sing in english), right now they are based out of South Korea, tomorrow maybe they will move to America. The production team in South Korea are doing an amazing job on the looks, the music videos and the management, it goes to show that it was the right move to start in South Korea... Just to sum up, XG is a japanese group that is based out of South Korea at the moment, but still as a international japanese group. Their label is Japanese, they are all Japanese (Hinata is half korean, Harvey is half australian) but they were all born and raised in Japan, and mostly only speak japanese. They speak moderate Korean, enough to answer simple interview questions, but will switch to japanese when they want to say something complicated. This is because they where to debut out of Korea, so they spent 5 years learning the language. Also English, they are working hard on becoming better at english, but the only member that is fluent is actually only Maya, and Jurin is also quite good, but is still not 100% confident.. This song is FIRE.....I'm an old skool guy and i'll tell you this is a VIBE that pre-chorus & chorus are just addictive. All i know is the song sounds hella good & makes you vibe big time. These young these ladies can do it all. Dance, rap and vocals its crazy how much talent the have. When this video came out about a week ago it was the trending #1-#2 music video globally for like 36 hours and its still trending top 20ish on youtube.
The auto tune was only used to accentuate the last words on the rap parts. And it’s not that strong, that’s my take on it. But like what the other guy said. It’s to show that they are from another galaxy and that’s why the verse is supposed to sound “alien”
Part of the theme of the video was that they could be from an alien world/cyborgs/ when they have the blue hair. You can see that at the bass drop where the girls act robotic. Autotune came in just for the effects. Nothing more. They had it for Maya 's rap part. it worked for the electro dance visuals. I heard it, thought it was cool, wasn't something I focused on, same as Jurin's vocals at the beg9inning. In fact I didn't really notice it until people started commenting on it as if Auto tune is absolutely a death sentence. Auto tune is a effect, no different from the synths all over the backing tracks throughout the song. Once again, the spacey/galactic vibe and it all worked for me.

If you watch all their dance practice videos, you will learn how amazing and in sync their choreography is! They are top notch when it comes to choreography, definitely my favorite girl group dancers. If you haven’t already, listen to their Xg rap videos 3-A and 3-B.
I actually agree that the auto tune could’ve been toned down. I’m cool with it as is but, like you said, not necessary. If you haven’t yet… I bet you’d dig “Left Right,” especially if you are a fan of 90s r&b/pop. 👍
Hey, Sean! I really like your videos. I still remember your first reaction to Blind Channel which I really enjoyed and it recently made me think about suggesting you two cool songs that you might enjoy (they are kinda in the same vibe as Blind Channel, so I thought that you may like them). The songs are "Venom" by Ollie and "Cha Cha Cha" by Käärjä. These two singers, just like Blind Channel, are currently trying to represent their own countries in the Eurovision Song Contest. Ollie is from Estonia and Käärjä is from Finland. I absolutely love their songs and I'd really love to hear your opinion too! :)))

Listen to their live stage performance if u don’t like the auto tune. I think it is prerecorded but it doesn’t have that autotune effect.
