The "inaccuracies" in other Ass Creed games are blatantly fictitious and not portrayed as historically accurate like Yasuke in Shadows. That's the difference. That and exposing Thomas Lockley and his fabrication of Yasuke with his book and the altered wiki articles.

It's not about OP being more popular than Oda Nobunaga . They just took a cool sword design , thinking that nobody would make the research that they were supposed to do , and claimed they did about all aspects of the game and its promotion . Just look at the geisha drawings being used as props as well , when Geishas weren't from the Sengoku era .

Had Ubisoft NOT doubled down on the situation and just stated that this was historical fiction this wouldn't have escalated. The Netflix Yasuke series being a good example. It's clearly a work of fiction with a light cyberpunk theme. Also doesn't help that Ubisoft also didn't hire anyone to oversee the level of accuracy for their take on feudal Japan which would have saved them loads of bad press and humiliation for backing the wrong horse in this race. Lockly's an asshole who sold a con only to get found out and is now hiding from the public probably hoping this all dies down. Also how the hell do you rip off something from a very popular IP like One Piece and expect to get away with it?

I'm the one who wrote in the previous video.
You're right, I wish people of African descent would speak out against UBI and Thomas Lockley for trying to spread untruthful information.
I honestly think that their actions are disrespectful to people of African descent and may induce Japanese people to distrust people of African descent.
It is also disrespectful to Yasuke. In fact, I did not dislike the anime that used Yasuke as a model, but now I think it would be better not to use him.
I would like people to make an informed decision calmly and without emotion.
Not in a way like the CEO of UBI said, that the opponents are racist, but I want them to gather information from many sides.
Whether you buy it or not is a personal choice, so I can't say anything about it, but I do feel that if it goes on sale, people should know that it is a very strange work of historical and cultural expression.
Please do not think that this is the 16th century in Japan.
Finally, I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your trip to Japan.

I heard that UBI put in an intimate same-sex relationship (it's hard to describe in English, so please forgive me if my expression is wrong).
As for whether it's homosexual, we won't know until we actually see the finished game.
However, I am sure that some of the powerful people in Japan at that time had ”syudou”, so I am not going to criticize that in itself.
I have heard that such a practice existed in places where women were not allowed to approach, such as battlefields and religious facilities.
In fact, it is said that ”Oda Nobunaga”, who also appears in this game, and ”Mori Ranmaru” may have had such a relationship.
Although it is highly doubtful that yasuke had the same relationship.
I am not an expert on Japanese history, so I may have different opinions, but I think this is the general knowledge of Japanese people.

I don't think I have to look at the main character's skin tone to make an informed decision on whether or not I spend a hefty amount for a game and Ubisoft as a developer has given me enough reasons to be concerned. First and foremost I would want the game to be good.
I'm neither black nor asian, so I don't really have much I can say on the matters of representation - however as far as Assassin's Creed is concerned I think Yasuke would've made for a fantastic side character you encounter in the story.
After all he was a prominent figure who was by Nobunaga's side.
Generally, the events at Honno-ji and the betrayal of Akechi Mitsuhide against Oda Nobunaga is one of the most prominent tales in Japanese History.
With how much Ubisoft fumbled the bag, Japanese people are well within their rights to be upset. The misrepresented cultural depictions, the Zoro sword, the wrong Kanji, the Hip-hop Battletrack... It feels like they had the wrong consultants on their research for the game - or they just didn't care.
The worst part for me imo is how much the discourse around it becomes about racism or platforms racism.
There's actual racists blending into the crowd using the situation to spew their shit, but at the same time people on the other side just use that to deflect all criticism whatsoever.
It's such an unnecessary shitshow that has been just tiring and it's really draining to see how often the industry has come to this point in recent years.
    It's absolutely shambolic.

Truth be told one can probably nitpick at games like Ghost of Tsushima or even fantasy games made by Japanese devs like Nioh and point out where things might not match with history, but in the end those games seemed to respect the setting a lot more. And I will give Ubisoft the benefit of the doubt on some points, because even if you get a historian to consult for you things are going to slip by. But when some people say they don't like this game, it really elicits a goofy response. After 10+ years of people hating on Ubisoft, suddenly people come out to defend them for some reason. Honestly along the lines of what you said, they could have made a standalone game about Yasuke or something and it probably would not have been like this, but the way Ubisoft frames this entire thing lacks respect for the setting.

The Japanese are angry on their own and there is no legal way to stop the release of Assassing Lead. So, it will be released on November 24, was it? If you don't mind, I think you should buy it. If you think it is a fantasy like Mario, not a fiction based on historical facts, which the developer says it is, and if you don't mind, you can buy it.
The first reason I noticed it is called the “Assassing Lead issue” because of UBI's initial poor response on this game, but it is not essentially an Assassing Lead issue, but overseas, it was released as The problem in Japan is “the problem of false information in a book that was released as fiction in Japan, which we believe to be the original, but is mixed with fiction overseas”. It is not about the game.
We are also angry “at the book” because the trailer shows that the game's worldview is a mess, that all of East Asia is treated in a mixed manner, that the expressions are discriminatory, and that there is the fact that cultural property was plagiarized.

    Hello, I'm Japanese.
Thanks for bringing up the AC Shadows issue.
The problem this time, to put it simply, is cultural differences.
Ubisoft did not fully understand the characteristics of Japanese people and the culture that fostered them.
Perhaps the most perplexing thing for Westerners is why Yasuke in AC Shadows is denied while there is no problem in other works.
In Japan, modesty is considered a virtue regardless of the reality.
Exaggerating the facts for publicity is an object of contempt.
So, if it is a historical fact or a true story, the Japanese try to make it as perfect as possible.
But if it's fiction, it actually advertises itself as complete fiction, no matter how close it is to historical facts or true stories.
Ubisoft had to understand in advance that Japan has a culture that strictly separates the real from the fake.
From the Japanese point of view, Ubisoft repeatedly did things that should not be done against Japan.
The first thing Ubisoft had to do in order to promote it was to compare Yasuke from the real story to Yasuke from AC Shadows and how nicely they adapted it.
Of course, Yasuke in the true story and Yasuke in AC Shadows are different people.
Yasuke's life is born according to the number of fictions.
Just as Yasuke in the true story had human rights, we had to give human rights to Yasuke in AC Shadows.
After introducing the real Yasuke in front of people with respect, he had to brag about the wonderful new Yasuke.
If Ubisoft had done the promotion correctly, AC Shadows would have been the game they were trying to offer without any opposition in Japan.

All they had to do was the exact same thing. It's so strange that this one time they decided to deviate.
(If anyone's wondering how this is irony. No I am not miss using the word. The ironic part is that Ubisoft have a formula everybody knows what an Ubisoft game is. If they're stuck to that formula, we wouldn't have this problem.)

Because nowadays black has become synonymous with DEI, heck people demonized AC Shadows original trailer before they even announced it was Yasuke. I have zero evidence whatsoever the fanbase at large would accept any black lead that isn't a slave or hoodlum, there simply hasn't been any cases (not one I've seen personally) where ppl haven't complained about a black lead. I was in Indonesia with my Indonesian fiancée I'm a 180cm White man walking around one of the poorer streets in the capital city and some random old man tries to throw a stone at my head just because I look different to everyone else, but as a whole Indonesian natives were wonderful and very friendly to me. When I come home to the UK a completely different less friendly atmosphere. I'd much rather being permanently over there in Asia.

You said what I actually want to say but can't because that's how the race game works in America -- You have to that ethnicity to talk negative about it, or whatever you say is not only irrelevant but racist hate speech.
    Black protag? Cool.
    Black samurai protag? Cool.
Black samurai protag in historical fiction based on Japan? Cool.
Black samurai protag named Yasuke in historical fiction based on Japan (that respects history)? Cool.
Black samurai protag named Yasuke, based on a true person but actually using one random non-historian White guy's fantasy, included because of his skin color and made homosexual for DEI reasons, in historical fiction that is appallingly inaccurate and now totally fiction by backtracking, by a studio that touted this is how players will learn and involve themselves in accurate Japanese history, on a botched representation of Japan that is blatantly incorrect because they used AI and Wikipedia as their material? Totally not cool.
Believe it or not, just changing Yasuke to be Japanese solves almost nothing of this game's issues. Yasuke, if anything, is a victim.
I really wish people understood that. Being fine with this means that so long as a dark-skinned character appears in a game, that's all they need, not what that character represents.
On an another note, Nagoriyuki is the character you're talking about, from a popular Japanese fighting game series "Guilty Gear."
Guilty Gear's creator, Ishiwatari Daisuke, is famous for creating his characters solely around what he thinks is cool (and making them over the top).
His inspiration for Nagoriyuki came most likely from "Afro Samurai", which Lockley, the liar who falsified nearly everything on Yasuke, edited in his book as reference, when "Afro Samurai" is NOT inspired from Yasuke. Afro Samurai was born from the creator putting together things he thought were cool.
Speaking of the use of Hip Hop...
UBI stereotyped that this is what Black players want with their Black character. How that flies under the radar baffles me.
If they really wanted to do this and be cool, they would have taken more inspiration from "Samurai Champloo."
But we can't have cool video games anymore, it's all about pushing Sweet Baby's agenda that caters to like a small fraction of the actual consumer base.

Apparently, Lockly made it public that he had a Wiki and was the one editing it long ago, and he now hates Ubisoft because of the hate he's getting.
I've never understood this demonizing of SBI or DEI cause they mainly consult or give suggestions they don't have a heavy hand on the finale product, and SBI has worked on multiple big successful games.

3:09 Assassins' creed is fictional history it was never historically accurate. It seems odd for them to claim that when there is a disclaimer in quite literally every game.. It's literally never been that historically accurate outside of the setting (which they fucked up bigtime somehow). It's supposed to be inspired by history. This is only getting the amount of buzz because black samurai = dei in some people's minds + the very real critique of that Lockley dude and his fake Yasuke story. Assassins' creed is sci-fi historical fiction and always has been. Do I need to list all the historical inaccuracies (real historical figures doing things they very much never did) from the previous games?
Like even going back to everyone's favorite AC2, The Borgia family weren't some obviously evil or villainous family. Ubisoft took inspiration from unconfirmed rumors from opposing nobles and ran with as a "what if this was true?". In AC3 Paul Revere, who is unquestioningly an American hero, is disgraced as a loser who was too cowardly to warn the Continental Army that the British were on their way and shirks the responsibility to the MC Conner. Tyrant George Washington, Tank inventor Leonardo Da Vinci you can literally go on and on. Please spare me the yapping from people who are mad enough the cry all day on social media but aren't mad enough to check the facts about the game series.
Anyone can be mad/offended for any reason. If it's not valid critique then it should be ignored. I didn't understand that point in the video. If the people don't understand that it's fictional and they are mad because they think "the stories are supposed to be historically accurate" why should anyone take the critique seriously if it has no factual basis?
Lastly, the REAL history of our world is canonically "templar history" in the games. The templars are winning in the present and that's why we have our history. They tried to make that very obvious in AC2,AC3 and AC4. This whole controversy is overblown af imo.

I know, obviously, you can't read every comment but I do want to mention that I did comment something similar to the above when you made your last video. Edit: Actually nvm I guess I forgot to hit submit or something.
There are real criticism of the game. The setting and cultural inaccuracies that have been critiqued before. I'm trying to be very specific and disputing claims of historical accuracies and the "outrage" related to assassins'' creed as a series.
