Here is an object which God instructed Moses to use for good, but once it became an idolatrous object of worship it was destroyed by King Hezekiah (who is known as one of the best kings of Judah)
In like manner, even people who are good people become problematic if they become objects of worship. Even angels don’t accept worship:
“And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.””
Revelation 19:10 NKJV
If you don’t repent you actually might lose your reward:
“Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.”
Colossians 2:18-19 NKJV
The “Head” here is Jesus Christ/Word of God. Repent or pay a severe price. Maybe even loss of salvation
