He better not run as a republican then there are no conservatives there anymore lol and they don't seem to care much about personal responsibility lately either at least not for themselves.
It’s basically just rehashed Bush era rhetoric. Hershel is just a sign of conservativism really just having no idea what to do with themselves after Trump. This is just an appeal to old 2000’s conservative ideas and values without the sting of it.
I was inclined to disagree with this at first (by saying small government is a simplified stand-in for limited regulations and federal overreach), but upon reflection, the military being the size it is necessitates the deep intermingling of public and private. And dear load, the spending...
tbh as someone with DID, Herschel blaming his domestic violence on his DID strikes me as suuuuper sus. Trying to excuse it while throwing the rest of us under the bus. I'm a danger TO MYSELF. Not to other people.
I am not defending this man he seems awful but from how it was worded it felt more like an explanation than a dodging of responsibility? Whilst more commonly people with disassociative disorders are more dangerous to themselves it can also lead to harm to people around them and of course there's still the weight of responsibility but I feel as if saying that the hazards that these things can bring aren't real could lead to less awareness even to people with disassociative disorders themselves. It's hard to prevent bad things from happening when you deny that they can happen. Of course it's a tricky conversation because it can be used as an excuse to demonise mental illness but it's very important within the community and we ourselves who are afflicted by these things to be aware of.

Same! I also didn’t like the way Cody phrased it/his not denouncing it but I’m guessing he didn’t understand how it sounded- someone with OSDD1b
@@ghosti287

If by left you mean the democrats then yeah, that's because they aren't really leftists.

Idk people started punching Nazi’s and folks thought that was too mean, maybe it’s not the Democratic party’s constituency being unwilling to stop the right, but instead moderates and centrists demanding respectability from one side while painfully excusing it’s absence from the other. To be fair most left-leaning people would fall victim to the idea of “I’m going to behave in the respectable way you should have,” because their political identity is tied to a developed sense of morals.
We don't have a left in this country. We have a far right ultranationalist party that is hell bent on murdering minorities and a right party that wants to work with the far right to achieve that goal.... compromise. The farthest left person in our government is Sanders and so far he is right on almost all of his ideas. Not having universal Healthcare proved horrific in a pandemic.
