Great blog Norm. Love the no nonsense approach. Sold a 34’ schooner, which I built over 12 years, about a year ago, after living on it for many years. I’m a landlubber now and am missing the floating life big time. I’m looking to getting a stink boat myself now. So I love watching your videos for obvious reasons. I was in the Hobart Wooden Boat show with my yacht about 6 years ago, just before Covid, so loving your reports from there too. Keep up the good work dude. Cheers from Erik in Pomona sunny coast 🤙
This is exactly what I am going to do! We'll done and thank you. How did you fasten rail to boat? Did you use screws? Also did you join any pieces together? How did you do the joints? I think I can only get 8 foot lengths here
Bolted the stainless hand rail through it and put a screw in between those bolts and at bow. Joined with black Sika. I drilled holes into end grain to give it a key.
G’day Norm, Great work on the capping rail. Love the idea of plastic rails could you please share some information on where I could do some research on them please. Regards Troy
Yeah dude. The product is produced by Advanced Plastic Recyclers. You can Google them and the agent in Qld. is Rob Arnold Phone 0499054559. Please let him know that I referred him to you. Cheers mate.

Top bloke 👏 doing my sailing boat in a couple of weeks 👍
Great dude. I love that composite Capping rail.
Brilliant work, not only saved some coin and looks great but importantly is a very sustainable way to use plastics, well done for leading by example.
Yeah Thanks Pete. It's all good, but I really can do without the constant maintenance.
Thanks for the comment.
New rail looks great. :-)
Yep and I'll never have to varnish it again Dude.

Good work norm always takes longer than you think does it not ⚓️🇦🇺
Sure does. I think the hardest part was getting the old rail off.
