I remember Thalys offered a discount to people who traveled transatlantic using certain airlines. Wonder if such offers still exist. It would be nice if I could book my plane and train ticket in 1 shot and save some money.

Europe is completely connected, there have been talks of letting the ICE trains run through the Eurotunnel to the UK, though i haven't heard much about that since, at the moment the Eurostar, car transporter and truck transporter are the only trains going through the tunnel.
