I'm up in the Greensboro area now. This is the 3rd round of the 3M pro film. I actually installed a hood and fenders a couple months back for a dealer up here, and checked it 3 days after install and it looked great. I went back 5 days after, and there were 3 places where the film had popped back up. 5 days after install! Even the cheapest of films shouldn't do that after being heat sealed. Honestly I'm very reluctant to try the third product round out, it could ruin my reputation I've spent a long time building. I'm using the Premium shield right now. 7 year warranty, great clarity, no problems whatsoever so far. Like I say I want to try the XPEL though.
I work for myself. I started on the Scotchgard as well. Got 3m certified by the Southeast 3m Ddistributor, Starshield In Charlotte, which whom I'm sure you are familiar with. Honestly in my opinion, it's still unbeatable for door edge guards and door cups.
It does man, thanks! I've installed a lot of different films, Scothgard, Premium Shield, Suntek, Llumar and 3M pro( which has been nothing but trouble) but haven't been fortunate enough to try the XPEL yet. Hopefully sometime soon I'll get the chance. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC by the way, right down the street from you. Thanks bud!
It seems like to do a hood, it shouldnt take more than an hour to apply ppf. A local shop near me gave me a quote of 4 hours labor job just to do hood. They said they wouldnt clay bar, polish the hood. They would just spray it with decontamination spray and use precut film. I feel like they are over charging for this
That technique is the way to do it, We have done dodge 3500 full hood, they turned out great, Up in Canada Xpel and suntek films do not withstand to the cold, compression areas, strecthed areas tend to lift in below 20 celsius, thanks you 3M for Pro Series film, it works great. Honestly no one can touch Xpel with there patterns, wish they were not so GREEDY. Great vid man.

wow, nice install! The yellow turbo squeegee works great, but I notice that it leaves behind some squeegee marks on my installs. What is the black squeegee you are using?
I'd love to do that as a career. I already do alot of detailing and paint restoration and protection but I'd love to take it to the next level and be a professional and do this stuff as well. I'm a perfectionist so I'd love making it look amazing and making it perfect.
Doug Payne Doug Payne WOW I'd have to walk around with a bucket because I'd be drooling. Them Z06 are mind blowing !! But so are all of them cars haha. Well sir I can honestly say you have my dream job. Thank you for making the videos i love having a glimpse into your world.

Thx for vid. I just bought a 15 mazda3 i touring hatch and did not opt. for dealer install. paint pro. and extend. warr. etc. I do however want to protect the finish,in my case black. I am no where near your shop but would like to know what is a ballpark est. to have hood&bumper/facia done? I was thinking of using the 3M spray one the rear and mirrors on my own. I know this is your lively hood but the 2 shops I have contacted sounded a bit sketchy if ya know what I mean! Great instructive vid. If I can find a good garage I might try this on my wife's older nissan. (white paint always chipped/dirty) Thanks again.
Questions about clear bra. 1.Do you wax or seal it before putting it on? 2. How do you wash a car with clear bra? I mean I assume normal wash but with no spray wax or whatever? you dont really have to worry about marks and small scratches when you wash it? or maybe just a rinse and wiping it is enough?
You want to do a full paint correction and then clean the paint with ISO before applying the film you don't want anything but paint under it, most films are self-healing these days so just leaving it in the sun on a hot day will make scratches disappear. Hot water or a hair dryer work as well.
@Extreme Colors Auto, By laminating the hood or rooftop, don't it get peeled off in hot summer? As well as the engine is hot and transforms heat to bonnet (especially petrol engine). Please advise if it peaks off or leaves the air bubbles etc on the bonnet?
The clear bra on my '08 Saab's hood is yellowing and starting to look really bad. The paint (#309 gray/silver non-metallic) is otherwise in good condition, especially since the car has been garaged most of its life. How are these clear bras removed? Should a new one be installed? Would that improve its luster? Or will the whole hood need stripping and repainting?
If we install this on the bonnet, we don't need to wax it anymore, am i right? If we never wax the bonnet and continue to wax the rest of the body. Will the color of the car will be different over time between the bonnet and the rest of the body? Please give feedback. Thanks

What is that liquid you are spraying? I have tried using soap water(someone told me that it was ok) and failed to even install door handle protector. There was air bubbles everywhere and I ripped it out...
is this car painted or is that a previous wrap? ask because i wish to do a wrap, with vinyl lettering decals and then a clear bra protection so I'm able to clean it and not rip the edges up on the letters? Think its doable?
am sorry if i bump this but i was thinking about getting something like that. i would like to know... what happens when you wash the car ? or very heavy rain storm ? can it affect the film in any way ? and if we are at work on a very hot summer day and car is just sitting at the sun.. can bubbles risk happening overtime ? tyvm hope someone can reply
+jeff alvarez Hey Jeff~ I had this installed on a new 2006 Lexus GS. I live in Northern CA and while I mostly keep the vehicle garaged, there are times it sits outside for extended periods. Temps in the summer easily reach or exceed 95 F. In addition, the vehicle has gone through hundreds of washes, mechanically and by hand. Lastly, on several occasions, the vehicle has been driven to Tahoe, thus subjecting it to winter climates, i.e., snow, sleet, freezing temps. The result after 10 years? Perfection to the nth degree! The film's protection of my vehicle was well worth the investment (considering the cost of vehicle vs the cost of the film). Not one ding from road kickback is apparent nor is there any sign of deterioration of the film itself. Why wouldn't anyone install this miracle product on ANY newer vehicle is beyond me! BTW-the bras itself is virtually invisible. My vehicle is white and it never yellowed, peeled or bubbled. Ciao
+Jan Merges i guess this is a good protection against rust too huh ? am planning to put this on a "regular car tho lol" 2012 mazda 3. its perfectly intact now and i was planning on doing a brandnew piano black fresh paint job and have this put over it. would it be a good idea or not worth for my car ? tx i live in canada. 4 seasons
can you tell me where i can get a file for plotter for pre cutting ptotective film for my Honda Accord 2015 ? i have a plotter and film . i want to do it by myself.
I am trying to look for videos for removal. It has protected the quarter front for several years. But removing is leaving behind a lot of glue and it is not coming off in one piece but hundreds. Looks like it has scratches. Probably the heat is tearing it.
Stephen Lozano A high quality steamer is the way to go as it releases the glue from paint. But this method doesn’t work as well on very old & deteriorated film.

@@alejandrodelapena1360 it was around $400 to do just the hood. I got the precut did and did full hood and front bumper for less than that

I use to window tint. Is it the same concept, is it easy to crease the film and ruin it?
Great job, what sprays did you use? Plus what would be the cost of front bonnet and front bumpers. Many thanks
How much to wrap the whole hood

how long does it last? the wrap? how much would a job like this typically be?
thank you Doug, and as far as pricing, what is the typically cost to get something like this install end?
never mind Doug you did answer my question. tks again

and the heat from under the hood does not peel this layer off?
Not at all. I have it on two of my cars. Great product.
I see you wearing gloves when you install ppf,why do you wear them if the car is washed and cleaned?what type of gloves do you used? Thanks
So the alcohol does not absorb into your skin. When you do a lot of applications it is a problem.
Its ok to use car shampoo with water to lubricate?
