YOUNG MAN, you would have to have been there to see it in action. (You keep stopping to interject. Let them finish their statements, THEN react.) The 1996 Bulls were MONSTERS. That is something you can not get from a video. I am Chicago, born and raised. We dubbed the 1996 season as the "Revenge Tour" because they got knocked out by Orlando in 1995. Michael was on a mission and was NOT going to be denied! The Warriors would not know what had hit them.
You said Green and Rodman negate each other? Not really, because Rodman would OWN Green. It is too easy to get in Draymond's head. He probably would get him kicked out twice, like he did with Brikowski.
Jordan putting up a lot would be no problem because that is what he does. This league today, nobody can touch him. Not to mention that the front courts are SMALLER than the 1990s. He is going to the hole EVERY time. The Portland "Shrug Game" showed he could hit the three if he wanted to. Remember, in 1996, he shot 42 percent off of almost 300 attempts.
Anything you say is a negative, MJ will show you up.
Also, in the playoffs, MJ has averaged more than 40 points SIX different times.
You can say GSW, but listen to their COACH who PLAYED with them, young brotha. Remember, they beat the Bulls' season record and LOST. That is not happening with MJ. They could easily play defense today because not only being long, quick, and athletic, they had GREAT hands. They were stealing everything. **(On a side note, did you know that most of the starters had a fitness contest between them? They would also compare to see who had the best abs. Even Dennis Rodman heard about it and wanted to get in on it. I believe he was the one winning the most)
Man-to-man?? KUKOC would get KD. He can not stop him, but he is also 6'11" and quick. He would be enough to slow him down. That is why Kukoc is a Hall of Famer.

The 96 Bulls win EASILY because not only could they score points but are more than capable of shutting down a team that scores most of their points with jump shots. People that have never watched the 96 Bulls team Play Defense have no idea how Great they were. You have to remember they won back to back to back Championships because how good of a defensive team they were. They suffocated teams with their defense! MJ, Scotty, Ron and Dennis were like unleashing 4 killer Dobermans out on teams! But if you've never seen them actually play then you wouldn't understand how great of a defensive team they were. That Warriors team was not even close as good on defense as the Bulls teams was. Michael Jordan alone with foul half their team out with the old rules and most definitely in today's rules.

  • @bludiablo
    @bludiablo 8 месяцев назад +10

Being as objective as possible, the Bulls would win in either era. Every Bulls starter was a better 1 on 1 defender than the Warriors starters and turned any mistake by the other team into instant offense. Plus with Rodman being quicker, a better rebounder, AND better than Draymond at head games, Draymond would play himself out of the series. KD would get his points, Clay would be nullified by the defensive pressure, and Steph would have to be nearly perfect every game to give the Warriors a fighting chance. Advantage Bulls.
Also, the reason a lot of us older fans are so firm in our opinions is because we've seen both eras in real-time and saw how the Bulls adapted to players with skillsets that we see in today's game. Hakeem, David Robinson, and Patrick Ewing were all bigs with very good range from mid-range, so adapting to a KD wouldn't be as much of a challenge as younger fans think. Shooters? They played against teams like Indiana with Reggie Miller & Chris Mullin on the floor together and while it was a hard fought series, they figured out how to win.

I guarantee you if the 96 Bulls palyed against the Warriors, you'd be forced to change your mind. The 96 Bulls would slaughter the Warriors today. If Michael Jordan was on the court, since no one is able to touch anyone Michael Jordan would score every time he has the ball. He'd probably put 50 to 60 points on the board.

Ron Harper had like 4 seasons averaging over 20 pts before he came to the bulls. Tony was a play maker, also averaged close to 20 a few times after MJ left.
I think the bulls win in their era and warriors win in theirs…but bulls have a way better chance in winning in warriors era then warriors do winning in the bulls.

I was already thinking that before Vince said it. I do think Curry and Thompson are going to be far less effective if people are able to shove them around on the perimeter. I think KD is gonna be great regardless, but I do wonder if someone like him would get hurt, even though he's quite durable. It's down to eras, but also which team can adjust to the other era better. I do think the Bulls have the edge of adjusting because they just got the size.

I know KD is your favorite player, but KDs biggest weakness is his strength. If there is hand checking I can see KD being less efficient, and could be bullied by anyone on the bulls starting 5, and even more so for Curry and Klay. The strongest player on the Warriors is Draymond. KD would average around 25-27pts with hand checking, not 30, but without hand checking KD could get 30+. Delladova worked Curry in the finals, so I'm sure Harper and Jordan, two long quick defenders, meanwhile Delladova is pretty much a nobody compared to other elite defenders. One thing that confuses me is how no one mentions Jordan in the video. With or without hand checking Draymond or KD would be forceddd to guard Jordan because Jordan would give Klay 40 to 50 points a night on the Warriors. Jordan dropped back to back 50 point games on the Knicks who were a wayy more physical and strong team. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a one man show, and Jordan gives Klay and Draymond back to back 50+ points. Without handchecking, I honestly couldn't even imagine. The game is sometimes cringe to watch already with free lanes to the basket. KD doesn't even average 40 without hand checking. Jordan averaged 40 in the finals in his prime, so without hand checking it almost seems Ludacris for someone to average 50 in the finals, but its already Ludacris enough to average 40. People underestimate the greatness and dominance of Jordan. Yes, this man averaged 40 in the finals, but we really think guys like Klay and Draymond are stopping Jordan? I refuse to believe it. KD would be forced to play defense and that would tire him out as well.
Otherwise, the verdict I would say Bulls in 5-6 with hand checking, Bulls in 5-6 without handchecking. I believe it would be the same amount of games with or without hand checking. With hand checking the Warriors are not strong enough to overcome, but without hand checking, it would unlock a different Jordan and Pippin, and Jordan ultimately wouldn't allow it to go to game 7 either way and musture up 70 points on dunks, layups, mid ranges in a game 6, and a few 3's when necessary. Id say Jordan in his absolute prime would average 35-42 points on the Warriors with handchecking, but without handchecking Jordan isn't scoring under 40. It's hard to say, but I'd say he'd average 40-52 points. It would simply be another historic night for Jordan because the warriors have no one to guard Jordan. KD is not the same level a scorer as Jordan. We got Wilt, Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Bird, and KD could be in the top 6-8 range in scoring. But anyways, KD isn't as aggressive or physical as Jordan, meanwhile KD would have to face tougher defense than Jordan. KD would be the best player on the Warriors. Steph and Klay would be merely spectators to the flight of 23, they are non factors on defense. Rockets took the KD warriors to 7 games, switch Harden with Jordan, the rockets win 6 games. Now of course this is my opinion, but this goes beyond the causal takes with an actual analysis.

Kevin Durant is basically Larry Bird. People say Bird is better, but I don't know about that. Elite players get their points regardless of who guards them. That goes for KD, Bird, Stephen Curry, or Jordan.

Double teams and zone defense nitpickings dont matter with superteams and borderline super teams. The forced man-to-man defense could cause early fatigue in Steph Curry who would be forced to chase down even a non-offensive player.
The defensive rules are not the easy solution you make it out to be. There are numerous things that would cause fatigue in a 1990s setting.

  • @djfriedice7754

You have to use the "eye" test. Those that watched the 96 Bulls, live, know that no team could beat them in any series. Warriors struggled in the finals and got their weaknesses exploited.
And let's be very clear...Jordan never got tired. That's insulting to hear you say that. Don't you ever say he would get tired running around with Curry. He is the GOAT.
And Rodman was the league's leading rebounder for seven years in a row, a power forward that played like a center. And would irritate the F out of the big men.
Kukoc is always overlooked, but he is a playmaker and a great ballhandler himself coming off the bench (6-man award winner).
Pippen plays consistent, high level defense, even when his offense is struggling.
And the mere fact that the Warriors that went 73-9 but lost in the finals to LePunk means they were not good. Because it don't mean a thing without the ring.
Bulls sweep Warriors 4 games to 0

KD isnt double teamed much in the modern NBA because most players are spaced out waiting at the 3-point line. If KD cannot average 40 when the court is as spaced as it is now, KD won't average 40 in the 1990s or a playoff series.
Need I remind you, 1-on-1 defenders handle KD in the playoffs since other defenders are spaced at the 3-point line

As much as a fan of old school ball as i am and be a man to think there is no one at MJ's level, i gotta go with your opinion that it all depends on which rules they play in.
Ticky tack touch and big man presence not allowed? It's just too hard to guard all perimeters.
You can put a hand on and put pressure on every position with body contact, good defenders can sway even the great scorers.
How MJ and Scottie contained Kukoc in the olymics to 6 points if i remember correctly is the prime example of how pressures can change the production outcome in a drastical way.
However; there is one thing that also plays crucial in this match up regadless of rules.
That's the mind play and mental toughness.MJ's team comes from the era of physicality and trash talk.
MJ and Rodman are the toughest men there could be and Scottie trained by MJ year after year to help MJ ger through all the competition in that era became no pushover either.
The mental edge should also play big for each team as their respective eras played way different.
The competitiveness, drive for win, hatred towards losing, willingness to throw and take trash talks to get the mental edge and the confidence in skill to back it all up is there for MJ and his crew who had utmost trust in him.
You just need right ingredient in play rules to go with it.

Lebron himself doesnt even double team if he has trouble guarding someone.

Curry is 6 ft 3, MJ is 6 ft 6. Its a mismatch. If youre saying Bulls 1996 to 2016 Warriors, Steve Kerr, point guard, who is around Curry height wouldve guarded him. 😂 Thats GSW Coach. Bulls won 68 games, 6 championships to the Warriors 4 or 5. Pippen wouldve assassinated Kevin Durant. You wouldve had to lived in 1991-1998 to know what real basketball was. 😂

Stop, please stop. Everyone always says who's going to stop the Warriors? The real question is, who is going to stop the Bulls. Can Steph stop Harper or can Steph guard Mike, no! Can Klay stop Mike or Scottie, no. Can KD run with Scottie for 48 minutes, no. Can he stop Kukoc? The actual matchup problem is the Warriors guarding the Bulls and Jordan is the X factor who will win the game for the Bulls. The '96 Bulls were Greyhounds on the loose. Defense and offense. Also the Bulls went 15-3 in the playoffs. The Warriors were 15-9. A great amalgamation of players does not mean you will automatically have the best team. The Bulls had the right people in all of the right positions.

Bulls win easily in any era. The Bulls was number 1 in offensive and defensive ratings that year... So the Bulls could score and lock you up. If you think KD would get 50 on the only team in NBA history to have 3 players first team all defense in Jordan, Pippen and Rodman...

  • @williamwalsh1533
    @williamwalsh1533 8 месяцев назад +1

On paper many people may go with the Warriors. Unfortunately most of those people never watched the three-peat Bulls with Rodman. As a person that has watched both teams, I will say it comes down to defense, turnovers and execution down the stretch. The Bulls were a better defensive team than that Warrior team even with KD. Curry is turnover prone and would not be able to defend Ron Harper or Jordan in the post. That is significant in a close game. Also, if Curry is not scoring 35 or more then that could be a problem. Curry would need to be hot in at least 4 out 7 games in order for the Warriors to win the series. KD may lead the Warriors in scoring for the series but he may not hit 46% of his shots. He will have to earn those points. Rodman would probably defend KD. Also, Tony Kuckoc off the bench would be a problem for the Warriors and may be the X-factor in the series. Kuckoc was similar to Luka but without the gaudy stats. Dude was 6'10 with three point range, a handle, a passer and an all-around skilled offensive talent. The Bulls could even insert him as a center if the Warriors go small. If the games are close I'd take the Bulls. There's another problem, the coach of the Warriors was on those three-peat teams. Another factor is that the rules in 96'97'98 were different than in the 2017. If we could time travel a team would we take the Warriors back or bring the Bulls forward? And if Kerr suits up for the Bulls, who's gonna coach the Warriors? If I coached the Warriors against that Bulls team I would RUN the entire game. You got to tire out the vets on the Bulls plus you're gonna need eazy buckets against a very stingy Bulls defense. Their defense was no joke.

So warriors lose in Bulls era cause it's too tough but win in their own cause it's easier? Makes no sense. Let's say both teams are equally skilled. Now implement the era in which they played. They can't beat us in our era when the game was more difficult and now we get to go to their era where it's so much easier to score and somehow that's an advantage for Golden State. Not a chance! 96 Bulls win in 5. Jordan averaging 50 pts a game. That Bulls team averaging 120-130 pts a game

Under 2017 rules, Rodman injures Curry anyway. Because Rodman. Under 2023 rules, KD quits and makes up a fake injury.

Listen, I actually love the way you talk about these highlights and videos and things keep it up you’re doing an awesome job. The one thing I wanna say about this particular video with the bulls versus Golden State. I know that you are talking about if they it depends on which era OK well if we automatically shoveled Golden State back to, the 80s playing the bulls OK you have to realize those exact same players starting out from the rookie year aren’t gonna have the same benefits that they have today OK so they’re not gonna be as good as they are today if that makes any sense. And the same thing goes the other way around if, the bulls came up and played in today’s era you have to realize that all of those players OK starting from the rookie year up until today are going to be taking care of their bodies and being in better shape and you’re going to have all of the advantages of today’s technology that comes with it see you back then when you came and played you just everybody depended on your natural ability. OK you were either born gifted or you weren’t in that carried you through until the bulls got sick and tired for example, I’m getting beat up by Detroit Pistons so they all started a workout program with the bulls after like their second or third loss. But it took that because they were sick and tired of getting beat up. Jordan in particular went off his natural ability. Tilian realize he needed to be stronger and bigger. OK now had he grew up with LeBron James for example he would’ve been playing at a much earlier age OK like LeBron OK instead of playing basketball starting basketball, his junior year in high school K and he would’ve had all of the advantages, LeBron James hat and probably would’ve started working out because you know what everybody in today’s league they work out to stay in the shade everybody’s build everybody’s huge everybody’s this and that. But back then you just went off your natural ability and Jordan hit the natural ability jackpot. If I’m being honest, he had the perfect body and the perfect agility now imagine if he had today’s technology to carry him through all those years, imagine how great he would’ve been then that’s why I’m saying, if you just take the balls and bring them in today’s game in my opinion they could definitely hold her way with Golden State OK and the same thing goes for back then is good as Golden State is if they played back then with the rules in the way teams did things back then you’re not gonna have the same Golden State team no matter who’s on the team OK because those guys go to the gym I can tell you when I was in high school but nobody worked out they went off their natural ability. They thought that playing the game itself was their work out which it was but players today work out at least two or three times a day and have different programs and we know so much more now that we didn’t know back then hopefully you get my Jess that’s why I’m saying if you if you go by the way, they did things back then I think the bulls win if you bring the bulls up today and go by Golden State rules to where they have all of the technology of today’s rules then I still think the bulls win either way now in today’s royal think they have a way better shot at beating the balls but back then no they wouldn’t have because most players played off their natural ability and most of the players today are only good because they’ve been working out since they were kids basically and practicing basically parents are more involved in today’s game to where they travel with kids take them here and there you didn’t have all that back there. Well you did but you had to be like the best in your state pretty much in order to go to a certain camp for this year that and you had to have money, a lot of players never made it, just because they were broke today. There’s ways to get around that but hopefully you understand what I’m saying. Keep up the good work you’re doing a great job.

The Seattle Supersonics is close to the Warriors style of play and the bulls got them in 6 games. They had a lit of sharpshooters and athleticism...and probably better defense than the warriors. They had a 6'10" three point shooting Versatile and athletic guy in Detlef...and Sam Perkins spread the floor too. Those guys basically do what Durant does and the bulls defense coutered them easily... between scottie , kukoc and dennis. Ron was "The Mitten" and MJ is that DAWG. JORDAN PIPPEN RODMAN and Ron would have had something for the Warriors. It would be a crazy series. But I think the bulls win. Current Durant and current Steph with the 2017 warriors would MAYBE edge the bulls out💯
KUKOC is the X factor bc he could drop 30 on any given night...and FAST. PLUS he was versatile as hell. It was almost like Luka coming off the bench back then .

If it were 90's rules? The warriors would struggle to get 1. They just dont have the lineup for a 90's era team. With 90's rules the bulls would rough them up a lot more than people realize. Todays rules? I think they would win 2 in a 7 game series. I think people forget how suffocating the bulls d was with jordan, pippen, rodman and harper. 3 of those guys were top 5 defenders in the league almost every year they played.
The whole jordan on the other teams best offensive player then switched to the other teams best defender was status quo his entire career. Pippen wouldn't shut down KD, but he would make his life a living hell. Especially with 90's rules. Defense wins championships.
Another thing i think people dont fully realize is Kukoc would be the face of a team in todays nba. He legit was that good, especially on offense. Guy wasnt even a starter for the bulls in 96.
Ive noticed every generation seems to think the generations before were slower, weaker, less talented less intelligent etc etc.... its simply not true. IMO the softer rules of today allow players to be less talented yet still succeed. Thats not the players of either generations fault. But one generation had to find solutions to the problems the tougher rules created. One generation doesn't. You sharpen a knife with a wetstone, not warm butter 🤷

You @5:25: "Aint nobody ever locked down KD 1v1"
That's true, but let's also not pretend that he's ever faced a staunch defensive team like that Bulls team either. Especially if they're playing under the old rules. Because if that were the case, the KD-Warriors would be in SERIOUS trouble.
Even with KD, the Warriors STRUGGLED MIGHTILY to beat CP3 and Harden's Rockets in 7-games! They ONLY won that series because CP3 suffered his annual playoff hamstring injury 😂
Hell, in that 2022 BOS vs BKLYN series, the C's played about as close to 90s style, physical defense on KD as the rules would allow, and it took him TOTALLY out of his game, forcing him into 38% shooting! 🤣
KD has a track record of STRUGGLING against solid defenders who can/will get a bit physical with him.
    Case in point: Tony Allen.
He's only 6'4, but when he was in MEM, he REGULARLY forced KD into 40-42% shooting in those series vs OKC. Now, just imagine what one of the GREATEST perimeter defenders EVER, in Scottie Pippen, would do to him?!!
In Scottie you have a guy who stands 6'8, has a 7-2 wing span, terrific overall strength, and has the speed and lateral quickness of a guard!
I've said it before and I'll say it again: the RULES of this era is what's GREATLY enhanced the offensive #s of many of the guys, that your generation fawns over (including KD).
It's just a shame that many in your generation STILL haven't figured this out yet...

You're thinking of lebum. Man to man is not what you've been told. You couldn't double team a player.without the ball and if the player hasn't started dribbling, but those were rarely enforced. How many times watching m.j. highlights have you seen him double and triple teamed all over the floor. Way more than anyone nowadays. Also players played zone essentially because they played 5ft of their man if they didn't have the ball. That's basically zone coverage.

What is Jordan was on LeBron James‘s workout program for example, instead of just going off of this natural ability because Jordan didn’t start working out and lifting weights and watching Woody Sara, any of that he drank he smoked he did all kinds of thing that are bad for your body. And still bodied on a nightly basis. All of those health risks were known back and like they are today that’s why I say if Jordan was put into basketball at age 5 or six and never stopped like LeBron James, for example, and did nothing but practice in know the game of basketball OK instead of starting his junior year in high school imagine how much greater he would’ve been. That’s why I said if you played in today’s era, in my opinion, Jordan, as well as the rest of the bulls team, they would’ve all been a hell of a lot better athlete and I guarantee they would beat the Golden State. If it was played in today’s era if they were granted the same rules as golden state and were able to have the same advantages have access to the same technology. Yeah, they’re gonna be just as good if not better than Golden State. That’s why I said they win either way because if you took all of that away from Golden State OK with all of the advantages of the 90s you’re not even gonna be dealing with the same team I guarantee you some of those players probably won’t even be on that team. Because back then basketball players in college and all the way up to the NBA and then high school the only thing we did was party and drink and smoke and you relied off your natural ability. You need to watch Charles Barkley’s interview and literally the man never practiced until he got so big he was actually forced to practice in order to lose some weight. But here’s the thing he was still better even when he was overweight, he was still better than 90% of the players he played against at that time.

@@queztheplugif you look only at stats, Bulls would not win any championships 1996-1998. There is a dominant Shaq and Penny Hardaway Magics team with multiple scorers and 3-point scorers. Bulls use Jordan as the main scorer, yet Bulls swept the Orlando Magics easily.
There is also the 1997/1998 Lakers team which is arguably the best all around team of the decade. Shaq scores alot, plus there is Nick Van Axe, Eddie Jones, a Lakers team complete with 3-point shooters. 5 different 3-point shooters, and 2 above 50% 3 point shooting.
Despite how advanced that Lakers team is, they got swept by the Utah Jazz. Utah does not have all those ultra-stats players, yet they beat 1998 Lakers.
Then Bulls beat Utah Jazz despite stats saying Bulls have the worse all around roster. Thats why pointing out the "stats" of Golden State players means little

Bro Jordan chased Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, John Starks, etc and all of them ran around just as much as Steph Curry. Jordan would be guarding Clay Thompson and Ron Harper would be the one chasing Steph or they'd switch up from time to time because of the Bulls versatility on defense. As far as the scoring is concerned Jordan was able to score as much as he needed to to win and you're out of your mind if you think the Warriors would score 120 on the 96 Bulls!! Finally I live in Oklahoma City and I'm a big KD fan but KD isn't scoring 50 on Scottie Pippen!! Durant's going to get his but ain't no way he's putting up 50 on Pippen. What you don't understand is that 96 Bulls team didn't double team Shaq so why do you think they'd double Durant or anyone else!! Bro us Jordan fans actually watched both teams in real time live not just the current Warriors live not clips of highlights from the 96 Bulls. That's why our opinion doesn't change!!! We watch them both
