    My Mom still has her 1999 E 300 Turbo Diesel in Glacier white. It has 134,000 miles with every option. We aren't letting it go, it stays pristine inside my shop. These are superior motors so hang on to it. Thanks for sharing!

    I know all about these. I’ve practically rebuilt my 1999 E300 TD. I’ve spent over 10k in parts alone at employee price. It’s got 240k mikes and drives like new. Everything under the hood has been replaced except the internals. I even replaced the brake booster 😂, makes the car feel new.Next is cosmetics for me. You will enjoy it. Don’t roll down the rear windows 😮

      @@tren35 yes all the bolt ons. At 265k now working on replacing the copper washers in the fuel injectors plus those top braided fuel lines that go into injectors, never had an issue with these until now. I’ve rebuilt injector pump, replaced all fuel lines under manifold, shut off valve. The two vicious fans along with engine fan has been replaced. Water pump, ac compressor, BRAKE BOOSTER, washer tank complete (looks great), $600 throttle position valve, all blend doors/stepper motors for AC (dash removed), New Cashmere headliner ( they all sag but mine), both rear window regulators, a/c regulator, Duo valve, all rubber , mounts, ball joints, control arm bushings, tie rod ends. For 265k she’s pretty damn good. Love her and I’m nuts for doing this 😂😂😂much more to come.

      @@jonweaver2410 oh don’t get me wrong mine have been replace and are working fine. It’s a design flaw on these models, the window will last anywhere from 3-6 years (hot desert areas) even untouched. You’ll
      Be driving along and “BAM” down falls the window all by itself. The regular main part where it holds the window up, is made of plastic.

    Nice car Joe, I know you saw my video on my dads car and you said you were thinking about getting one. You should definitely hold onto this one for a long time. These non turbo w210 diesels are getting hard to find especially in that kind of condition. By the way I think the EGR delete will help improve the fuel economy. Would be very curious to see what kind of mpg you got.

    Oh man. Why does everyone else get lucky to get a diesel w210 but me? I ended up with a 2001 AMG sport appearance package e320. I really wanted another diesel. 6 cylinder preferably. I had an 85 300d back in 01 to 05. 280k miles when I sold it. Didn't burn any oil and ran like a top. Had an 83 Peugeot 505 turbodiesel from 1990 to 2001.
    My e320 is a hotrod and I still have a lead foot even at 72 but would prefer the diesel.
    That definitely looks like a keeper.

    • @JoesGoldenGarage
      @JoesGoldenGarage  3 года назад +1

      I have had a few w123 diesels including a wagon. W210 is my favorite chassis. I have had a e420 which was only offered in 1997 before it went to e430. I have had 3 2001 e320s. A 2000 e430 and this diesel. The e320 is my favorite of them all. Perfect balance and feels quicker to me than the v8 cars. Btw I owned a 1981 Peugeot 505 diesel back in the 90s as well. I bought it from the original owners in 1992 I believe. Peugeot had packed their bags and moved from North America so the owners got nervous about owning the car and where to get it repaired and serviced. They had just spent $4000 having the head redone when I bought it from them. It got me through part of college and then my brotherThrough high school and some of college. I think we sold it for 1600 bucks in 1998 if I remember correctly it was a five speed turbo diesel. It was so much fun it had an olive green interior

    • @wernerdanler2742
      @wernerdanler2742 3 года назад

      @@JoesGoldenGarage I had an 82 505 turbodiesel. I blew the headgasket and put a lot of cracks in the head. That was in the late 90s. I had driven through the mountains to hard several times. It had the 3 speed automatic which I hated. I paid $400 for a new head and a hundred or so to have the valves put in and lapped. I paid a Peugeot mechanic $200 to install it.
      So about $700!
      I had it till 2001 and then sold it to a friend who's uncle had a Peugeot repair shop for $200. So over 11 years I got good use out of it. Oh ya, I switched the 390 mm wheels for later model 15 inches. Really liked that car except it just couldn't go fast enough for me. Lol

      @JoesGoldenGarage  3 года назад +1

      @@wernerdanler2742 well the 5spds would rolllll..I cruised many highway miles with the needle pinned past 85 mph for hrs on end. She was a lil slow InTown. Heavy clutch. Notchy gears . But the ride is what makes those cars. Like a cloud. I can’t remember my tire size but I know they were steelies with factory hubcaps.

    • @wernerdanler2742
      @wernerdanler2742 3 года назад

      @@JoesGoldenGarage I forgot what year you said your 505 was but if it was an 83 or older it had the 390 mm 4 bolt wheels. They went to 15 inch wheels in 84 or 85. Michelin was the last tire manufacturer to make the metric tires. They were expensive!
      My 83 had one of the 80 mph speedos and at 80 it was all out with the 3 speed automatic. I imagine that 5 speed had an overdrive gear.
      That car drove like a race car though. It had struts and short travel suspension and rack and pinion steering, and I think it weighed in at 4500 lbs. Solid steel body! I'd say it drove almost as good as a BMW I owned after that.
      I saw an 87 model at a dealers sometime in the 90s that they had never sold but they wanted an outrageous 50 grand for it. It was a nice looking car, much more modern interior.
      It had a turbocharged v6 but I couldn't afford that.
      11 years is the longest I have ever owned a car and I've had a lot of them.

    hey, great video. i just bought a '95 e300 diesesl w/ 120k mi. love the car, but have been seeing people on youtube shifting through gears like a manual?? is this the way you drove yours??? starting in 2nd and cycling up through 3rd into drive once revs reach 4/4500..
    i have been doing this for about a month and had a euro-repair guy give me a puzzled look as to why i'd drive this way.. i feel like i'm gertting more torque off the line in 2nd, but now afraid i'm going to do more damage than good..

    All of the cream puff Benzes are down in the south. All of the California cars I've seen have been used and abused. Even the carpets didn't look to stained, the leather is clean and crack free -- same for the wood. Is there a way of checking the Conductor Plate to see if it's been done?

      @@joespittle1 this one shifts very smooth. But if you floor it in S setting it holds the gear. You have to ease off the throttle for it to shift. If you drive it in W it shifts fine but skips first gear from a standstill. Again the transmission shifts as smooth as butter. But I can’t help but think somethings just not quite right.
