It’s mostly heavy duty work trucks where orange peel is more common like near the lower rocker panels. It can be a sign of some extra protection is added against chipping and rusting out.

the " orange peel" on the bottom rockers and bed is actually intentional to protect from rock chips, if that's what ur talking about.
