@Swissswoosher that's not really true. It says "Duitsen bloed", in the 16th and 17th "Duitsch" meant Dutch, not German. That's because back then, the Netherlands was not a united country like it is now.
@@skylixx005 Germany was not a united country but even back then people called themselves German. The heir to the HRE held the title „King of Germany“. In German the HRE is even called „Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation“. So while the country did not exist, the idea of being German did.
