Thanks for your clear and simple way for anyone to understand. I am having a problem with the cookie cutter tutorial from 9 years ago. it's been working fine till recently, and now that I am using PSE 2022, I can't get it to work. At the point where I am supposed to draw the shape and release, the result is always the same. The shape is either all black or just the outline. Would you please help me solve this proble? Thank much. Tony
Pleased you enjoyed the video @tonybarone1211 :) Unfortunately, I'm unable to help you with your cookie-cutter problem as I haven't updated to PSE 2022. Thinking about it try in on an empty layer or it might be worth holding down Alt/Opt or Shift, sometimes things like this can help.
THANKYOU SO MUCH just tried your advice it worked really pleased with that and with you thats a little bit more i know i will keep watching out for more from you thanks again
thankyou for your reply to my problem been away for a few days so i will know try your advice hopefully it is sorted love your tutorials hope to be watching many more thanks
Hi Alam Arthansyah it is now known as the Custom Shape tool in both Photoshop CC and Elements. It can be found in with the Shape tool shortcut U. Hope this helps David
***** I recorded this video using Elements 11 but for some reason Adobe have moved the Cookie cutter in with the Crop tool in Elements 12+. Select the Crop tool and in Tool option choose the Cookie cutter. Hope this helps
like this so much however when i get to the part of using the cookie cutter it comes out as a solid colour on a new layer have tried a few times with your video by my side but it still the same i am using elements 12 on a pc windows 7 help
Hi annee505 make sure you are using the Cookie Cutter Tool from the MODIFY menu and not the Custom Shape Tool from the DRAW menu. The Custom Shape tool will add a colour. Hope this helps, David
I have been trying unsuccessfully to follow. I am okay until I come to the cookie cutter. When I choose it my changes go on another layer and the cut count is black. What am I doing wrong? By the way I love this and want to learn the technique.
Hi edormackdavis1 make sure you have the default colours, Black as the Foreground and White as the Background..press D to rest. Then click on the Background layer and rename it Layer 0 before adding the new texture/background for your image 1:04. Then hold down Ctrl/Cmd and click on New Empty Layer, this will add the new layer under Layer 0 and fill this layer with white 1:52 Hope this helps David
When you use the crop shape in the photo-layer, it makes a mask in the photo-layer. When I do the same, it makes en new layer above the photo-layer, the photo is covered. What do I wrong??
Hi Rob Stolk, I'm not sure what the problem is. I have tried to replicate your problem but it always works out as it should. Is the any chance you could send me s screen grab so I can see if I can spot the problem? Cheers David
@@davro06 Hi David. Layer 0 is a photo with skaters. I selected that layer, used the Cookie Cutter for a frame, but the frame comes in a new layer (Vorm 1) above the photo-layer and so it covers the photo. I want the frame not as a new layer, bus as a mask, in the photo-layer .... Sorry, I don't know how to insert the screen grab in this answer ....
@@robstolk1 Hi Rob what version of Elements are you using, not that that should stop it? Send me an email via Contact page on my website davrophotofx.co.uk/ a I will send you my email address so you can send me a screen grab.
Hi, no you can't download them, it is for Photoshop Elements. It would be worth trying the Custom Shape tool in CS6. You can even create your own shapes and save them to use on borders have a look at this ruclips.net/video/OskKGBmnRvU/видео.html Hope this helps
I love your tutorials and they are some of the easiest to follow along with. My question is, I have Elements 15. I can find the custom shape tool (your cookie cutter), but when I follow your instructions exactly, rather than get a mask next to your picture layer, I get an entire new layer when I apply the shape you used. And instead of the photo being within the chosen border, the border shows the picture and the entire inside is white. Help please! :)
Pleased you enjoy the videos K.E. Garvey. Once you apply the customer shape tool, hold down Ctrl/Cmd and click on the layer. This will select the shape you will now see the matching ants, now try Ctrl/Cmd I invert selection. Delete the layer with the solid white shape, the rest is the same as the video. Hope the helps
Thanks so much for getting back to me. Once I wrote to you, I scrolled down through other comments are realized that my tool was tucked away within the cropping tool, as mentioned by others. So, I actually did figure it out (I'm diligent), but it's nice to know that if I hadn't, you were available and willing to help. Thanks again and take care.... I'll keep watching!
Well Explained. Sir. Thank you. Sir
You are welcome M. Jagadishan, pleased you enjoyed the video. Cheers David

Hi Joe, what part isn't working in Elements 14?
