My bet is that the inner portion of the snowball mochi was frozen prior to wrapping, hence the ice cream-like texture. My bet is Covid and lower demand required them making adjustments so things wouldn’t go bad

to avoid the mochi being sticky to hold, you’re supposed to coat it lightly with some corn/potato starch! that would help with the texture

Reminder: ASMR is for sound not for visual. Who cares how messy you get. People like it for sound and that is what asmr means. Also, those type of mochis, you have to eat it right away for they will melt while waiting to be eaten cause of how thin the mochi part is. Enjoyed the video though and that looks like it was a good snack!
