It took me about four to five hours over two sessions 😮...that was with a new pump and gasket, and I didn't try to remove all the scale, just got as much of the scrud as possible. It's a full day if you're also going to deep clean the laundry room at the same time, and more time, assuming you can either get parts locally or have to wait 2-5 days for shipping
excellent tutorial! took me about 6 or 7 hours to break mine down, deep clean it, and reassemble it. was able to get the drum fully separated. great video!

This was extremely helpful. I have an LG WM2301HR. I had to replace the drain pump anyway and thought I should look into the deep clean since I had never done it before and it was smelly and every so often would get mud on my newly washed clothes. Yes it's a lot of work but I am pleased with the result. I too will do better about maintenance cleaning.

just do 3 cleaning cycle cotton extra hot and long empty cycle, first with 2 cups of clorine bleach, a second one with 3 dishwasher tablets, and a thirt with 250ml of citric acid it will be back to new! in the wrost cases repeat every week for a month. but the way if you know how to wash and use a washing machine this will never happen! start to use hot and extra hot for whites and powder detergent that contain oxygen and will clean all the inside of the machine too, at least one hot extra hot wash a week it will last a lot never smell and clean us new! stop the shitting speed cold cycle is very dangerous for your healt inside of nasty washing machine used like that, theres scherichiacoli salmonella and other very harmfull shit for your life!

This is exactly my model LG with exactly the same problem. It's releasing mud back onto larger loads of laundry intermittently. As basic as you make this seem, I'd have to agree with rndoune that I'd rather pay someone who does this for a living to make sure it's done right.
Yeah... I don't plan on ever tearing apart the washer for a deep cleaning again. It was a lot of work. Several tub cleanings with Plink and Affresh got rid of most of the gunk but couldn't remove the stuck-on grime. Thanks for the feedback! 😎
This is a VERY VERY complicated washer. I have a wbsr3140daww GE top load washer that I did a deep clean by taking apart. Before watching a video on Appliance Parts Pros specific to my washer I watched a number of RUclips videos. If I were you, I would sell that complicated device for a top load washer that is WWWaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy easier to achieve the same result. But that being said, you made a very informative video. I watched the whole video out of respect that you did this pain in the ass project and had some nice editing.
Yeah... we got rid of the front load washer not too long after the deep clean. My wife just couldn't get the grime out of her mind. LOL We purchased a top load washer and run the clean cycle every month. 😎
Dear lord that was a MAJOR labor of love. I just watched a top loading dissemble video and that that t a front loading machine would be a little bit more work, boy I was wrong, I will have a good look on the internet for info on my machine but its a Japanese model 15 years old so I doubt that I can find much info as Japanese like to replace their washing machines regularly so repair vids are scarce, Thank you for your effort!!
Yep I had some GE front loader that I replace the bearings on twice and the shocks once basically the same procedure as doing the main bearings. I don't know about this new LG but GE wanted you to buy the whole hub assembly to get the new bearing. But if you're careful and you basically know what you're doing you can buy the bearing kit and replace it yourself. But as usual with appliances at some point you just have to get a new unit. Anyway once I get my LG cleaned out in addition to maintenance cleaning I also bought a small fan that I set inside of the drum after completing a load keeping everything dry is also important
I just bought a used set of these. We didn't smell anything at first. But once I set them up at home oh boy. Dude this video was awesome. I really appreciate your time to make this
Amazing video. Detailed and well illustrated. Make sure you check your make and model of washer before attempting this. Some manufacturer's are making their drums in a way that does not allow you to pull it apart. I guess they are more interested in selling you another washer then they are in helping you maintain it. They should be boycotted. Some are even worse, they don't even make in easy to get to the filter. My front load Whirpool duet washer is a joke.I had to take off the whole front of the washer just to get to the filter to clean it, something that should be done once a month. So why make a washer that requires you to take the whole front off unless you just want it to break or stink so people go get a new one. Disgraceful Whirlpool!

@@HacksbyDad I actually had one issue, but, not because of misdirection in your video. When we cleaned the grey door gasket, we were a little bit too close with the hose and we perforated it. So, we had to buy a new one.
The washer was about 10 years old and we didn't know that it had to be routinely cleaned. Began cleaning it 2 - 3 years ago, but it was too late. The smell and gunk kept coming back and leaving brown marks on our clothes. Lessons learned. 😎

Remember to reinstall your bolts THEN tighten... also tighten in a star patern. Helps seat the gaskets better and a more uniform tightness than just going around in a circle
LG has a issue with there washing machine. Leaves the closed dirty. I spend a lot of money buying new clothes. Since a putting to wash they come out a full of Stains , and draining residuos . Lg washing mashing is not good
Fully admire. I have almost exact LG stinky washer machine. Every once a while, I have to spend hours of labor to clean it. Fully regret of moving from top loader to front loader. Life quality went backwards because the wrong decision. I will never buy front loader machines anymore. I personally have very sensitive nose that I can tell the mold odor and this LG stinky machine is great producing mold odor continuously and spread to my cloth.
Yeah... after I cleaned the front loader, we gave it away and purchased a top loader. My wife just couldn't get the thought of the grime out of her mind and had enough with the front loader. She's so happy now! 😎

Today I treated my LG Stinky with 409, Mold Remover, Hand Sanitizer, Bleach, White Vinegar, Baking soda, Clorox Mold Spray each with a hot clean cycle. The machine finally smells less stinky. But there is no way I can do what you done to follow 1,000,000,000 steps to break down the machine and clean the outside of the drum. I know there must be still tons of dirt built outside the drum that I just cannot clean.... I will give this Stinky machine few more months if all brutal cleaning methods are not working, then it has to go to junk yard.

Front loaders should be okay if cleaned at least monthly. We didn’t know about the tub clean cycle and neglected ours for several years. I think liquid fabric softener also contributed to the buildup.

Sorry, but you're wrong about that. Front loaders are gentler on clothes, and if a tiny bit of extra work is done, your tub will not look like this. I just split the tub on a 14 year old LG TROMM to replace the bearings, and the stainless is clean and looks brand new. Why? Because the woman kept the door open after every wash. Drained the well and cleaned the trap regularly, and ran "washer cleaning cycles" periodically. And most of all, she didn't use too much detergent and softeners.
Great job, but disassembly like that is too much for me. There was a thorough test on cleaning machines done a few years ago, and a Danish team developed a method with several hot cycles and rinses; one with and oxy based powder, followed by one with chlorine bleach and two with an acid based cleaner (1 dl citric acid, or two cups distilled vinegar). I can`t remember exactly, but I was surprised at the number of hot cycles and the recommendation of chlorine bleach. In Denmark they have hard water and mineral deposits are common. They experts insisted it had to be highest temperatures, and attacking the grime with different detergents. They tested real life machines with a lot of grime and build up, and it took quite some effort before they insides were clean. They checked that all the parts like the outside of the drum, that`s hard to reach.
Seriously this is ridiculous that you need to basically disassemble the whole machine in order to clean the drum. This is such a common problem (gunk residue on the drum) how come that the machine manufacturers still didn’t figure out a way to make it more accessible to clean… unless they just want us to keep on buying new machines…
Thanks! I’ve only done it once after neglecting the washing machine for several years. I learned my lesson and now run the clean cycle once a month with cleaning tablets, use hot water for the last load of the week to help remove residue, and don’t use fabric softener anymore. 😎

Very useful video! I watch your Plink and Affresh videos and saw the results. Did you try the baking soda and white vinegar method where you put the vinegar in the tub and the baking soda in the tray to see if that worked any better that Plink and Affresh, prior to doing your full tear down?
Thanks for watching the videos! Yes. I tried vinegar and baking soda, but that didn't work any better. I just couldn't get rid of the grime after years of neglect. My fault for not knowing that washing machines need regular cleaning. Lesson learned.
I have dealt with the smell for 2 years now to the point not only does the air/exhaust and washer itself smell but my clothes never come out without smelling and I have to go to the laundromat which isn't great either but smells better. I have tried countless affresh and many many other similar tablets, etc. Bought online, at store etc in the last 2 years. Spent hundreds on all that Vinegar, bleach, lemon, etc etc. Taking apart the machine and cleaning it is the only way but I can't find someone who will do it cheap enough that makes it worth it to do. My boyfriend is a contractor but said he doesn't know how to put it back together correctly so we are at a a loss. I am SO sick of dealing with this. Our only alternative seems to be to buy a new washer which I expect eventually we will reach the same problem as it occurs with front loaders due to the inability for air to escape prroperly.
Popular though it is, while mixing vinegar and baking soda is a great way to make carbon dioxide, it doesn't make for a great method of cleaning anything, so you'd do better using just the white vinegar on its own in a very hot wash cycle, or citric acid which is another mild acid. My washing machine (front loader) stays nice and clean and odour free, and all I do is leave the door and draw open between washes to prevent mould, and usually wash at 40°C (104°F) using a washing powder containing oxygen bleach and bleach activator which kills bacteria and mould even at lower temperatures, see:- ruclips.net/video/1NmsV6XAbuY/видео.html and descale it once a year with citric acid.
Did the efficiency improve and clothes come out cleaner after you thoroughly cleaned it all out? I don't know if mine needs it or not, but it seems like isn't cleaning as good as it should fo4 even small loads
There has to be an easier way to clean the machine internals. Most of us will forget what goes back where or we may force and break something and then we go mad. Are there no chemicals that can do this job ?

I was going to try cleaning mine but after watching this I saw how involved it will be and since I do not have the budget to replace mine if I mess up I'm going to find a professional. This video was greatly detailed and perfect for those that want to do it themselves. I do have a recommendation, at the start of the video explain why you are cleaning it and then at the end give an update to that problem.
Best way to avoid this is to run a sanitize cycle at least once a month with towels, whites, rags, or other items that will not fade. This will use hot enough water to break down the deposits you do not see.
Yup! Why didn't you tell me this 10 years ago? LOL We now run the clean cycle with Affresh tabs once a month, wash towels, jeans, and sheets with hot water every week, and use less detergent. 😎
The heavy grime built up over many years of neglect. Baking soda and other methods of cleaning couldn’t remove the grime. We now run the tub clean cycle once a month and wash towels and sheets in hot water once a week. 😎
Great tutorial 👍 I’ve heard that the mould & mildew smell, & greasy deposits is caused by the fabric softener/conditioner, as it’s made of animal fats that build up on the drum & internals.
Definitely would not have figured this out on my own and getting that machine into the basement was incredibly difficult. This video and a couple of days effort saved our washer!

Great video, but I will definitely not do it. I will double the effort to keep them clean. I left my machine doors open the whole week until the next time I use them. They work fine and I have no reason to suspect they are dirty inside.

I think the drum was not that dirty. If you just remove the hoses and really clean them out, remove the door seal and really deep clean that, the result is just as good. I did this to remove odors. Even running bleach (lots of it) would not get rid of the smell. The recirculation hose was the worst. The many drain holes in the door seal were also plugged. They were not even opened very well from the factory. I used a drill to make sure there was no rubber flashing still blocking the hole. Result was night and day. Seriously, I do not think this was worth the work. Like I said, the inner/outer drum did not look that bad and likely did not cause any smell.
I deep cleaned the drum because my wife could not stand the idea of washing our clothes with that grime. Not worth it to you, but is was worth it to me. Happy wife, happy life. LOL

Did you tried to do a couple of extra hot wash empty with 3 dishwasher tablets? They remove all the dirt! And buy the way what you see inside the pipe and all the dirt is liquid detergent residue lived because cold and tap cold washs only! Start use powder detergent and hot temperatures for towels forbedding shits, and you machine will stay fresh and clean for ever, that ahappen because most of thepeoples don't know how to use awashing machine
Guilty! We obviously didn't know how to keep our washing machine clean. It was about 7 years old by the time we started noticing marks on our laundry and it was too late by then. I tried dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets, vinegar, etc. Several cleanings but nothing would remove the grime except for this teardown. We now run the clean cycle with washing machine tablets once a month and like you suggest, wash towels and bedsheets in hot. So far, so good. 😎

We bought it new and didn't clean it for about 7 or 8 years before noticing a bad odor and brown marks on our clothes. That's when we learned that the machine had to be regularly cleaned. 🤦🏻♂ I'd say we ran 4 - 5 loads every weekend. We learned our lesson the hard way. We now have a Maytag top load washer and run the clean washer cycle once a month and wash our sheets, towels, and jeans in hot water.
Awesome instructive video. Thanks for efforts. Any ideas why a similar large size drum equipped LG washing machine may cause holes on some of clothes? No visual problem inside of drum surface, so metallic sounds when rotating it by hand. No vibrations. Nothing. Authorized service center only wants to replace entire drum and front gasket.
@@HacksbyDad re: Holes - suggest you make sure all zippers are closed (i.e. zipped up to avoid catching on other garments) and delicates or items with hooks e.g. bras etc are placed in an individual wash bag. Wash clothes on Gentle or delicate cycle.

this happened because americans just wash in cold and speed cycles very nasty thing to do washing nothing in this way and rinsing so bad!!! in italy we only have front load washer and we use hot extra hot with powder detergent and cold warm for ligh colored and colored stuff with liquid may be and add oxy clean long wash at minimum 1.30h minimum extra rinse and most of the time prewash! once a month cleaning cycle with the drum cleaning cycle with the cleaning prodoct like affresh for example! in the bad case you can do 3 cleaning cycle, one wiwt clorine bleach cotton extra hot long wash, second with 3 dishwasher tablets, the thirt with 250ml of citric acid, repeat monthly and you will make it like new again whitout do all this work that you did!

I know from experience that cleaning the drum for a top load is way easier. I would say half the effort. Wow I always wondered what it would take to do the same for a front loader and now I know. Amazing video and well done my friend. This looks difficult and a pain to do but when you finally have it clean it is the best feeling in the world. Basically you just bought a new machine.

Just bought a 1 year old LG for a great price almost identical to this one. Only problem its disgusting with build up, gunk and mold from previous owner. Cant believe some ppl don't clean their stuff more often. after I take it apart and clean it will be good as new

This is a VERY VERY complicated washer. I have a wbsr3140daww GE top load washer that I did a deep clean by taking apart. Before watching a video on Appliance Parts Pros specific to my washer I watched a number of RUclips videos. If I were you, I would sell that complicated device for a top load washer that is WWWaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy easier to achieve the same result. But that being said, you made a very informative video. I watched the whole video out of respect that you did this pain in the ass project and had some nice editing.
Yeah... we got rid of the front load washer not too long after the deep clean. My wife just couldn't get the grime out of her mind. LOL

I just watched a top loading dissemble video and that that t a front loading machine would be a little bit more work, boy I was wrong, I will have a good look on the internet for info on my machine but its a Japanese model 15 years old so I doubt that I can find much info as Japanese like to replace their washing machines regularly so repair vids are scarce, Thank you for your effort!!

Yep I had some GE front loader that I replace the bearings on twice and the shocks once basically the same procedure as doing the main bearings. I don't know about this new LG but GE wanted you to buy the whole hub assembly to get the new bearing. But if you're careful and you basically know what you're doing you can buy the bearing kit and replace it yourself. But as usual with appliances at some point you just have to get a new unit. Anyway once I get my LG cleaned out in addition to maintenance cleaning I also bought a small fan that I set inside of the drum after completing a load keeping everything dry is also important

Amazing video. Detailed and well illustrated. Make sure you check your make and model of washer before attempting this. Some manufacturer's are making their drums in a way that does not allow you to pull it apart. I guess they are more interested in selling you another washer then they are in helping you maintain it. They should be boycotted. Some are even worse, they don't even make in easy to get to the filter. My front load Whirpool duet washer is a joke.I had to take off the whole front of the washer just to get to the filter to clean it, something that should be done once a month. So why make a washer that requires you to take the whole front off unless you just want it to break or stink so people go get a new one. Disgraceful Whirlpool!

The washer was about 10 years old and we didn't know that it had to be routinely cleaned. Began cleaning it 2 - 3 years ago, but it was too late. The smell and gunk kept coming back and leaving brown marks on our clothes. Lessons learned.

@@HacksbyDad is it neccessary to teardown & deep clean? i've been thinking about it but the cost is about 150 bucks to call professional cleaning. my machine's only about 700 worth, it's also a front load whirlpool. so far i used only the built in drum clean function with affresh. but i get black dusty bits falling out when i run the laundry, i have no idea where they are from :(

Remember to reinstall your bolts THEN tighten... also tighten in a star patern. Helps seat the gaskets better and a more uniform tightness than just going around in a circle

LG has a issue with there washing machine. Leaves the closed dirty. I spend a lot of money buying new clothes. Since a putting to wash they come out a full of Stains , and draining residuos .

Fully admire. I have almost exact LG stinky washer machine. Every once a while, I have to spend hours of labor to clean it. Fully regret of moving from top loader to front loader. Life quality went backwards because the wrong decision. I will never buy front loader machines anymore. I personally have very sensitive nose that I can tell the mold odor and this LG stinky machine is great producing mold odor continuously and spread to my cloth.
Yeah... after I cleaned the front loader, we gave it away and purchased a top loader. My wife just couldn't get the thought of the grime out of her mind and had enough with the front loader. She's so happy now!

Today I treated my LG Stinky with 409, Mold Remover, Hand Sanitizer, Bleach, White Vinegar, Baking soda, Clorox Mold Spray each with a hot clean cycle. The machine finally smells less stinky. But there is no way I can do what you done to follow 1,000,000,000 steps to break down the machine and clean the outside of the drum. I know there must be still tons of dirt built outside the drum that I just cannot clean.... I will give this Stinky machine few more months if all brutal cleaning methods are not working, then it has to go to junk yard.

Front loaders should be okay if cleaned at least monthly. We didn’t know about the tub clean cycle and neglected ours for several years. I think liquid fabric softener also contributed to the buildup.

Sorry, but you're wrong about that. Front loaders are gentler on clothes, and if a tiny bit of extra work is done, your tub will not look like this. I just split the tub on a 14 year old LG TROMM to replace the bearings, and the stainless is clean and looks brand new. Why? Because the woman kept the door open after every wash. Drained the well and cleaned the trap regularly, and ran "washer cleaning cycles" periodically. And most of all, she didn't use too much detergent and softeners.
Great job, but disassembly like that is too much for me. There was a thorough test on cleaning machines done a few years ago, and a Danish team developed a method with several hot cycles and rinses; one with and oxy based powder, followed by one with chlorine bleach and two with an acid based cleaner (1 dl citric acid, or two cups distilled vinegar). I can`t remember exactly, but I was surprised at the number of hot cycles and the recommendation of chlorine bleach. In Denmark they have hard water and mineral deposits are common. They experts insisted it had to be highest temperatures, and attacking the grime with different detergents. They tested real life machines with a lot of grime and build up, and it took quite some effort before they insides were clean. They checked that all the parts like the outside of the drum, that`s hard to reach.

Seriously this is ridiculous that you need to basically disassemble the whole machine in order to clean the drum. This is such a common problem (gunk residue on the drum) how come that the machine manufacturers still didn’t figure out a way to make it more accessible to clean… unless they just want us to keep on buying new machines…

Thanks! I’ve only done it once after neglecting the washing machine for several years. I learned my lesson and now run the clean cycle once a month with cleaning tablets, use hot water for the last load of the week to help remove residue, and don’t use fabric softener anymore. 😎

Very useful video! I watch your Plink and Affresh videos and saw the results. Did you try the baking soda and white vinegar method where you put the vinegar in the tub and the baking soda in the tray to see if that worked any better that Plink and Affresh, prior to doing your full tear down?

Yes. I tried vinegar and baking soda, but that didn't work any better. I just couldn't get rid of the grime after years of neglect. My fault for not knowing that washing machines need regular cleaning. Lesson learned.
I have dealt with the smell for 2 years now to the point not only does the air/exhaust and washer itself smell but my clothes never come out without smelling and I have to go to the laundromat which isn't great either but smells better. I have tried countless affresh and many many other similar tablets, etc. Bought online, at store etc in the last 2 years. Spent hundreds on all that Vinegar, bleach, lemon, etc etc. Taking apart the machine and cleaning it is the only way but I can't find someone who will do it cheap enough that makes it worth it to do. My boyfriend is a contractor but said he doesn't know how to put it back together correctly so we are at a a loss. I am SO sick of dealing with this. Our only alternative seems to be to buy a new washer which I expect eventually we will reach the same problem as it occurs with front loaders due to the inability for air to escape prroperly.
Popular though it is, while mixing vinegar and baking soda is a great way to make carbon dioxide, it doesn't make for a great method of cleaning anything, so you'd do better using just the white vinegar on its own in a very hot wash cycle, or citric acid which is another mild acid. My washing machine (front loader) stays nice and clean and odour free, and all I do is leave the door and draw open between washes to prevent mould, and usually wash at 40°C (104°F) using a washing powder containing oxygen bleach and bleach activator which kills bacteria and mould even at lower temperatures, see:- ruclips.net/video/1NmsV6XAbuY/видео.html
and descale it once a year with citric acid.
Did the efficiency improve and clothes come out cleaner after you thoroughly cleaned it all out? I don't know if mine needs it or not, but it seems like isn't cleaning as good as it should fo4 even small loads
The machine did smell much better. We felt the clothes were cleaner but it might have been because we knew the machine itself was clean. 😎
jesus christ, top loading washing machines are like 10 times easier to take apart than this, just cleaned mine a few days ago.
There has to be an easier way to clean the machine internals. Most of us will forget what goes back where or we may force and break something and then we go mad.

Thank you for this. I was going to try cleaning mine but after watching this I saw how involved it will be and since I do not have the budget to replace mine if I mess up I'm going to find a professional. This video was greatly detailed and perfect for those that want to do it themselves.
I do have a recommendation, at the start of the video explain why you are cleaning it and then at the end give an update to that problem.
Best way to avoid this is to run a sanitize cycle at least once a month with towels, whites, rags, or other items that will not fade. This will use hot enough water to break down the deposits you do not see.

We now run the clean cycle with Affresh tabs once a month, wash towels, jeans, and sheets with hot water every week, and use less detergent.

I just use baking soda
The heavy grime built up over many years of neglect. Baking soda and other methods of cleaning couldn’t remove the grime. We now run the tub clean cycle once a month and wash towels and sheets in hot water once a week. 😎

I’ve heard that the mould & mildew smell, & greasy deposits is caused by the fabric softener/conditioner, as it’s made of animal fats that build up on the drum & internals.

Great video, but I will definitely not do it. I will double the effort to keep them clean. I left my machine doors open the whole week until the next time I use them. They work fine and I have no reason to suspect they are dirty inside.

I think the drum was not that dirty. If you just remove the hoses and really clean them out, remove the door seal and really deep clean that, the result is just as good. I did this to remove odors. Even running bleach (lots of it) would not get rid of the smell. The recirculation hose was the worst. The many drain holes in the door seal were also plugged. They were not even opened very well from the factory. I used a drill to make sure there was no rubber flashing still blocking the hole. Result was night and day.
Seriously, I do not think this was worth the work. Like I said, the inner/outer drum did not look that bad and likely did not cause any smell.
I deep cleaned the drum because my wife could not stand the idea of washing our clothes with that grime. Not worth it to you, but is was worth it to me. Happy wife, happy life. LOL
Seriously, im very grateful for such a prestige demonstration, but all that work just to check on the outer side of the tub..man, its like building your iown washer
Thanks! it was the consequence of not cleaning the front loader over years and years of use. A foul odor and specks of gunk in the wash were the results of the neglect. The lesson I learned... clean your washing machine at least once every 30 days and wash some loads (towels, sheets, whites) with hot water weekly. 😎

Did you tried to do a couple of extra hot wash empty with 3 dishwasher tablets? They remove all the dirt! And buy the way what you see inside the pipe and all the dirt is liquid detergent residue lived because cold and tap cold washs only! Start use powder detergent and hot temperatures for towels forbedding shits, and you machine will stay fresh and clean for ever, that ahappen because most of thepeoples don't know how to use awashing machine

We obviously didn't know how to keep our washing machine clean. It was about 7 years old by the time we started noticing marks on our laundry and it was too late by then. I tried dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets, vinegar, etc. Several cleanings but nothing would remove the grime except for this teardown.
We now run the clean cycle with washing machine tablets once a month and like you suggest, wash towels and bedsheets in hot. So far, so good.

We bought it new and didn't clean it for about 7 or 8 years before noticing a bad odor and brown marks on our clothes. That's when we learned that the machine had to be regularly cleaned. 🤦🏻♂ I'd say we ran 4 - 5 loads every weekend. We learned our lesson the hard way. We now have a Maytag top load washer and run the clean washer cycle once a month and wash our sheets, towels, and jeans in hot water.
Awesome instructive video. Thanks for efforts. Any ideas why a similar large size drum equipped LG washing machine may cause holes on some of clothes? No visual problem inside of drum surface, so metallic sounds when rotating it by hand. No vibrations. Nothing. Authorized service center only wants to replace entire drum and front gasket.
Sorry, I haven’t run into this problem. The clothes only touch the drum, door, and gasket… not sure what could cause the holes. 🤷🏻♂️
@@HacksbyDad re: Holes - suggest you make sure all zippers are closed (i.e. zipped up to avoid catching on other garments) and delicates or items with hooks e.g. bras etc are placed in an individual wash bag. Wash clothes on Gentle or delicate cycle.

this happened because americans just wash in cold and speed cycles very nasty thing to do washing nothing in this way and rinsing so bad!!! in italy we only have front load washer and we use hot extra hot with powder detergent and cold warm for ligh colored and colored stuff with liquid may be and add oxy clean long wash at minimum 1.30h minimum extra rinse and most of the time prewash! once a month cleaning cycle with the drum cleaning cycle with the cleaning prodoct like affresh for example! in the bad case you can do 3 cleaning cycle, one wiwt clorine bleach cotton extra hot long wash, second with 3 dishwasher tablets, the thirt with 250ml of citric acid, repeat monthly and you will make it like new again whitout do all this work that you did!

I know from experience that cleaning the drum for a top load is way easier. I would say half the effort. Wow I always wondered what it would take to do the same for a front loader and now I know. Amazing video and well done my friend. This looks difficult and a pain to do but when you finally have it clean it is the best feeling in the world. Basically you just bought a new machine.

After the deep clean, we actually gave the front loader away to a friend and picked up a new top load washer. My wife just had it with front loaders.
We now run the clean cycle once a month and wash towels and sheets in hot water weekly. This should minimize scum and grime build-up.

Just bought a 1 year old LG for a great price almost identical to this one. Only problem its disgusting with build up, gunk and mold from previous owner. Cant believe some ppl don't clean their stuff more often. after I take it apart and clean it will be good as new
Guilty! For years, we cleaned the gasket, but not the tub. Didn't even know that it was needed until the gunk started appearing on our clothes. We now wash with hot water weekly and clean the tub at least once a month.
