Few have mentioned the excellence of Andrei Uvarov. Take another look and notice his phenomenal artistry and musicality, especially his clear musical phrasing and moments of emphasis. He also had his own unique style. He was a contemporary of Tsiskaridze at the Bolshoi and hence somewhat overshadowed. He deserved to be seen as THE best together with Tsiskaridze. What is fascinating is that both Tsiskaridze and Uvarov were coached professionally by tbe great Nikolai Fadeyechev yet they have completely different styles. I appreciate the fact that Fadeyechev brought forth what was unique to each of them. Neither of them are clones some coaching
Neither of the two of them was coached by some conventional format. Bravo also to such coaches!

All were good and who is best comes down to a matter of personal preference. My favorite was Tsiskaridze, his ability to leap high and hang and still be in time with the music is brilliant. He's fast yet seems to be relaxed and at ease. Gabriel Figueredo is a bit of a prodigy and this shows why he's now a principal at the Stuttgart Ballet.

Thanks for a great compilation. All were virtuoso dancers. My favorites were Tsiskaridze, Uvarov, Sarafanov, Hernandez and Kim, in that order. I'm not familiar with Uvarov and it's wonderful to "discover" new dancers. I didn't think Figueredo was on the same level as the others.

I put Tsiskaridze first because I wanted him to show what the “golden standard” is.
Tsiskaridze, Martinez, Hernandez, Polunin for character portrayal, technique and the way they take command of the whole stage. That's not to say that I don't appreciate the others. But, as other commentators have said, after Tsiskaridze the game was over!
Después del enorme Tzikaridse no hay nadie q pueda compararse, técnica suprema, control, elegancia, carisma. No se trata de hacer una demostración de gimnasia artística sino ballet q requiere algo muchísimo más difícil q Nicolás tiene en grado sumo. Quizás Sarafanov se acerca un poco pero es difícil igualar no digo superar al MAESTRO!!!!

I love Paquita the whole ballet. Unfortunately it is rarely performed in its entirety, only excerpts. There is only one video recording available as far as I can tell.

I am happy that you mention Uvarov. As he was a contemporary of Tsiskaridze and also in the Bolshoi he was not so well known in the west. He was a phenomenal artist in his own right.

Интересно, как Фигередо попал в лучшие? Ему что "Пахита", что "Дон Кихот" - никакой разницы в стиле. Все же концертные исполнения следовало бы исключить из сравнения с исполнениями из спектаклей, где в помощь артисту имеется костюм и грим. Они помогают создать образ, тогда как в концертах трюки наворачивают без отношения к музыке и образу.

the Bolshoi, and just about every other company in the world - needs to stop using these shit arrangements of the music of these variations. It seems only the Mariinsky has them in their original orchestrations.
origins -
--The variation danced by Bujones, etc. was originally a female variation for Alexandra Zhaposhnikova by Alexei Barmin, 1881.
--Tsiskaridze's variation is by Drigo, for a 1902 revival of "La Source" a the Mariinsky. This crappy arrangement is not Drigo's, which is far better.
--Kimin Kim's variation is also by Drigo, and was originally Enrico Cecchetti's variation for Petipa's "La Vestale" of 1888.
--Polunin dances another variation originally for a female, it is Rita Sangalli's variation by Delibes from "La Source".
Красивее всех - Габриель Фигуередо. А хуже всех танцует Кимин.... со славянами не сравниться никак.
