- My first cycling club runs a Hilly TT each year, this year I got along there with my new setup. Super gritty course and surprisingly lumpy for the flattest county on the planet. A couple of the best cyclist locally turned up. I dive into a bit of How to, on time trialling as well as running you through some of the fastest kit and fastest bikes I’m using.

Chapeau Alex! I used your TT wisdom and knowledge for my TT efforts and it has payed off. 1st place 50-54 Age CAT 2023 season. This year I want to focus more on road bike TTing for fun and gravel racing. Thank you Alex 🇬🇧💪🤝
I love your honesty and no bull talk.
Just like when you were a world tour pro, sharing your data with us it’s a privilege to see into your world.
🏆
I seen TT world championship 2019 today and you sone superb performance 👏👏👏 , really appreciate. I am becoming your big fan . Honestly now i know that you are among the top time trail riders 👍👍👍. Yes its disappointed to go of podium by few seconds.
Thank you for making the time to still vlog while youre helping the newborn and doing a lot of stuff! cheers alex
You have most certainly earned your beer! That was great to watch
Really enjoyed that. A good old British TT, results using pen and paper and most importantly, a guest appearance from the big gains guy! Keep the videos coming, Alex! 🎉Oh and congrats on the win 🏆 one suspects it takes you longer to make a cup of coffee than get round a hilly TT course 😉
Last time I did a TT I was running a 20mm Conti supersonic on a HED 3 and a 23mm Conti 4000 on my rear. Back in 2013 😂
I'm excited to see the upcoming track video. The Instagram photos of the bike looked sick.
Alex, if the lumps of wax on your garage floor are quit hard, not soft and squishy, then your wax is too hard.
You need to add some lamp oil to your melted wax concoction to make the final wax a bit more pliable.
I'm enjoying all the race videos. Thanks Alex 👍 I've been interested in TT/triathlon for a while now but haven't taken the leap yet. Maybe you could share about getting into TT'ing?.. TT for beginners, intermediate and pro levels? Maybe something about track cycling too?... couple of short series perhaps... 🙏 side note...you've got me looking at laced cycling shoes while i don't need new shoes 😆
It's normal for the chain to be stiff after waxing and it will soften up as you use it and the excess wax falls of. I would be more worried if it wasn't stiff, that means your chain is not deagreased properly and the waxing didn't stick to the chain properly
Yup, I would also suggest that you want to give it 10k (or maybe a bit more) to break in the chain and the stiffness will go away. Just need to shed the excess wax.
You do need to do at least 10k with a fresh wax for it to be race ready
Vittoria has new corsa pro speeds
Also the gp5000 tread originated from the gp4000 that had a tread for aesthetics (cus customers think it helped grip or whatever) and it accidentally ended up being one of the most aero tyres
Re the Conti tyre tread, I think it use to be on the 4000s/s2 if you mounted it in reverse to the rotation you were supposed to mount it it was even better aero (or so I read) - unsure on the 5000 tread it’s a touch different. The Conti tyres are also a very aero shape when inflated, corsa seem to be more circular, maybe less aero
Enjoyed that good video. Interesting take on not using a power meter. Contemplated getting a power meter for my training, but did I don't need to know how much power I am making when getting dropped by the group. I can 'feel' I'm not making enough. My excuse is I'm old.
Is that the silca wax pot thing or a normal crock pot? The strip chip is done at higher temps ( but I'm assuming you know that ) I'm sure Josh will sort you out
Great vid as always! What’s the double sided tape you’re using on your socks Alex? Cannot get mine to stay up for the life of me!
Salt plays havoc with my sleeping heartrate and heart rate variability if I consume too near to bedtime.
That's interesting because magnesium helps with sleep, and both are electrolytes basically.
@@pierrex3226 you can definitely have too much of both. Salt is essential but it takes not a lot to become problematic.
Hi Alex, seems like you are dailing your espresso brewing routine in. i remember you were a bit confused when you got the machine
Isn't the Titan front wheel made for 23mm Corsa Speeds specifically? I was looking into gp5000 TTs but they are not available in 23s. Probably the aero gains are not as relevant for me due to much lower speeds.
The none tt you can get in 23mm aero will outweigh the slightly lower rr
Hi Alex - I would be interested to know which tire size you using front and back? And tire preassure? Thank you for all your interestng content.
What’s your thoughts on HVMN not being a full ketone monoester like DeltaG or KetoneAid??? Seems that leaves a great deal of the benefits on the table.
i found the Corsa speed 2.0 in 23mm better in front then the GP5000 TT. The Conti does not fit very good on most rims
how did you spend the prize money? thanks for helping some of us local riders discover radar hill . climbed on the mtb that day to watch second lap
What model sonic cleaner do you have Alex?
Will the GP5000 TT work as effectively aerodynamically on the Titan, which was designed around a 23mm tyre, as the GP5000 TT is only available down to a 25mm size?
What is the little drink Alex has before races?
3:17... I spy my old chainset there!
Are the D2Z extensions in this setup UCI legal? Does not seem to be 12cm from the pads to the tops...
Would specialized prefer you to use their Roval wheels, given that they are sponsoring you?
Interesting that so many cyclists go for a ROCKET espresso machine 🤣. Good grinder too
Was that some ketones before the start?
43kph avg. is still dam fast...
algo
Are you de gassing it first?
