Another great video, I do like your mini diorama bases, especially the sniper base the idea of the helmet being used to draw enemy fire is fantastic and very well conceived. I can see why it won first place.
Thank you, very kind of you! The helmet was literally a last minute addition as he was initially going to just be holding binoculars too. A simple piece that changed the whole look. Massive apologies for not responding to your last comment about sending some of your pictures, I only saw the comment tonight so I'm sorry about that. There is a facebook group but if you aren't a FB user, I'm going to set up a dedicated email address tomorrow so I'll let you know when that's sorted. Again, huge apologies ☺
Thank you! I definitely think that seeing the models up close is so much better than photographs. Hopefully these are easier to see than the photographs from my older videos on the channel 😊
Thanks Phil! I think close ups like that are much better than the photographs I used to use. You can definitely see a lot more detail in the miniatures 😊
Thanks Cal! I'm always thinking about what I can make next and will often just have a rummage around bits boxes just to see what I can find. Definitely my favourite part of the hobby 😊
Again mate some brilliant peices here. Still love that sniper team but the starlingrad command stand looks fantastic. Love the major on it. Top work again mate 😁👍
That's awesome, thank you! The command section is definitely one of my favourites I think. I absolutely love working with the winter German box and adding the radio operator was a bit of a challenge but I think it turned out ok 😀
Cheers Leslie! Yeah the Napoleonic stuff should be something a little bit different for me! I'm sticking with a few head swaps on the Voltiguer company and skirmishers to start with and then see how it goes on the next battalion 😀
Great video as always from you. I to love how versatile the bolt action figure sets are for “Bashing”. Thinking i might grab a British spruce and equip my Fallschirmjäger with a captured Bren as my lmg
Hey Mathew, that's awesome thank you! That's a great idea. A lot of my Fallschirmjager and Grenadiers are equipped with allied weapons to give them that 'veteran' look, like they've picked up the weapon in a fire fight or prefer to use a specific gun. It makes sections look unique ☺
Cheers Mark! I wouldn't know what to do without all the spare bits and pieces, it's pretty rare for me to build a Bolt Action kit straight out of the box anymore 😀
Excellent work on the W-SS LMGs. Besides prone figures, slung LMGs are the worst thing for a WW2 gaming army. You did a great job on making them look dynamic and ready to blow through 5000 round/minute. That FLAK gun is brilliant. Lots of inspiration for future projects here.
Cheers James! Yeah the slung LMG in the SS kit is indeed a strange one. The rest of the poses in the box are very dynamic and 'action' like except for the LMG. It can look out of place when compared to the rest of the section. But they were pretty easy to make and will definitely mix in with the other figures 😊
I like the action of the volks, and their section leader, the sniper team looks nice as a diorama, i like the iron cross of the winter guys and the pphs gun, so clean painted, and the guy face, he escaped stalingrad, no way that battle hardened guy will let himself get captured..😂 Lovely work.
Thanks Lucian! Yeah the sergeant from the command section has definitely seen a lot of action and certainly got back to Germany. I always enjoy adding PPSH's to my winter Germans, always gives them that authentic 'on campaign' look 😊
Thanks mate, much appreciated! It's been really enjoyable going back through some of the kit bashing bits and pieces that I haven't seen for a while. I'd forgotten just how gnarly looking the Volksgrenadier section was 😀
That's awesome, cheers Lee! Like I said in the video, hopefully these videos show that kit bashing and converting miniatures is pretty much a hobby in itself and shouldn't be intimidating. Having a go and seeing what happens is the main thing. I'm due to start my first Napoleonic conversions soon so that should be something a bit different 😁
Cheers mate! I saw the idea in another video but it was such a simple conversion I had to try it. Very happy with how it turned out. Only managed to use it once so far 😀
Thanks Justin! Like I said in the video, I try to keep most of my kit bashing/conversions as simple as I can as this can often yield the best results. It's still one part of the hobby that I always look forward to though 😊
Cheers Skipp! It's been really enjoyable looking back at some of these kit bashes. I particularly liked the SS ones even though I really haven't got round to painting them yet 😁
Cheers mate! Yeah through SS kit bashing looks really pretty effective but was so simple to achieve. Even though the SS kit is a lot newer it is still compatible with some of the older kits. I really like how the Volksgrenadiers turned out, a good mix of kits really worked well 😊
These look awesome. Given me some inspiration for a project im planning once Perry Miniatures release their Franco-Prussian War stuff. Wish Warlord did a Zhietbhan only sprue.
Cheers buddy, much appreciated! Yeah very much agree with you about the zeltbahn sprue, that would be really handy. For me the figures that are equipped with zeltbahn really epitomise the late war uniform feel 😊
That's awesome, definitely my favourite nation to paint and play in games of Bolt Action! The window on the sniper base is just a piece of plastic from a plastic blister pack. It was cut to size with scissors and the bullet holes were added by using a sharp point 😊
Love the SS MG42 gunners.. going to have a go at replicating some of these poses! I was wondering if you had any kit bash ideas on US Paratroopers carrying SMG’s.. you only get a couple of options for Thompson’s on the Airborne Sprue and I’m not a fan of the grease gun. It’s a bit of a struggle making the models look individual when I have 3-4 SMG’s in each squad and 4+ squads! 😂 I’d love to get your ideas on this 😄
Cheers Josh! It's been a good while since I converted the LMG gunners so really will need to paint them soon. Ahh yes, this can be a bit of a pain when trying to add some variety. Two things I would suggest - first is to look at other sprues with the same weapon to see if this will work. For example there are Thompsons on the USMC and British Commonwealth infantry sprue. I've been using bits and pieces from these on my Polish Airborne and the rolled up sleeves really adds a bit of uniqueness to the models. Another is using captured weapons. A handful of my German army have allied weapons. This is a simple way of adding a bit of character to your figures. If done sparingly it looks pretty good. Hope that helps! ☺
@@OnPointHQ thanks for the info mate! I’ll look into the other sprues! Hahaha I think it’s about time you painted them then! Maybe try out the Oak Leaf Camo as an alternative to SS P-Dot
No worries buddy, it's actually given me an idea for a new video to be honest! I can imagine that quite a few people look at different ways to add variety to their infantry sections so I'm going to make a video to show some of my individual weapon and arm conversions/kit bashes and also how captured weapons can often work too. Cheers! 😊
@@OnPointHQ sounds like a great video pal! I think that building the models and making them unique is where I get the most enjoyment to be honest. That and setting them all up once they’re fully painted 😂 I managed to pull a couple of Thompson arms off of a Commonwealth sprue I had lying around so that’s made a nice conversion! Thanks again for the tip!
Definitely agree about making some really unique figures using an all manner of different bits and pieces. The Warlord plastic sprues are so versatile that I've used them across a whole range of armies ☺

Beautifully painted!Great close ups!

Very impressive close ups, excellent job!

Some great kitbashes. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to where your imagination takes you next.

great stuff Ste, looking forward to your Napoleonic kit bashing.

Another fantastic video about kit bashing. Really tempted to try stuff out with my bitz box. 😁👍

2 minutes in and I'm already loving the conversation, I cant wait to see the rest
That AA gun is brilliant!
Cheers mate! I saw the idea in another video but it was such a simple conversion I had to try it. Very happy with how it turned out. Only managed to use it once so far 😀
@@OnPointHQ still worth having if it was made entirely from spare parts! 😄 the model looks great for display anyway haha
I think I just want to use it more because I really like the way it looks. Rule of cool rather than how good it actually does in game 😀
Very cool conversions mate
Thanks Justin! Like I said in the video, I try to keep most of my kit bashing/conversions as simple as I can as this can often yield the best results. It's still one part of the hobby that I always look forward to though 😊

Nice video, like the MG42 soldiers and will steal that idea lol. The Volks look great and the AA gun is ace

Your Germans have inspired me to start my own German force, what did you use for glass on the window of the sniper team?
That's awesome, definitely my favourite nation to paint and play in games of Bolt Action! The window on the sniper base is just a piece of plastic from a plastic blister pack. It was cut to size with scissors and the bullet holes were added by using a sharp point 😊
