Roland Dyens: ____ " It was only in December 1999 that I played, and recorded, this piece five years after having composed it. I have often been asked if it contained any reference to the music of Zappa, an iconoclast of the 1960s rock period and later of contemporary music ( Pierre Boulez has conducted some of his work ). As a teenager I retained more the eccentric image of the person rather than his music, and in fact there is not a single reference, since this homage is a purely intuitive work, and came to life the day following Zappa's death in 1993." ;-c
It's an "Hommage", so doesn't have to have any actual Zappa notes in it. But it's cheeky, sometimes funny, and non-conformist in an "I don't give a ****" way - like Zappa.

Hold up. You wrote this and recorded it, then roland covered it? Are you Mirza?
I've wanted to hear this for a while.
the segment from 5:45 to 7:00 was very zappa to me
Zappa would approve, no doubt. Roland is a genius en par.
Been wanting to hear this piece for ages. Really interesting
....and "RabelaisPanurge": I like that.
The word "hommage" means to show honor, so it doesn't necessarily have to be an arrangement of one of Zappa's songs.
@choppercift
No, it's by Roland Dyens himself in 1994.
Domeniconi composed the piece about Jimi Hendrix, not Zappa.
so awesome
Bel hommage au Maître;
@martinvegaga yes
