Just saw the film Trillertrine - looking for Mozart, in which this piece fills the central part. I never could have imagined being so moved to the bone by a Mozart piece since I saw Amadeus, but my eyes got wet by the performance of the piece in the final part of the film. So utterly beautiful.
Gracias.
Believe it or not, I got hooked on the piano with orchestra version, because of a Walter Matthau movie. Lol! The movie, Hopscotch, featured a number of Mozart pieces.
Yes, Hopscotch is a great movie. Filled with great lines. " I think he's seen Casablanca one to many times" The levels of skill, professionalism and respect is demonstrated with The fountain 11:00 Y.
The video poster did not add the artist information because, as they stated in video information, they got these tracks from a website archiving all of Mozart's music. I have been to the archive: you can listen to the track, but it does not tell you who is playing it. However, through modern technology (music recognition app), I have found out who it is. It is Sir Neville Marriner conducting the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, with pianist Alfred Brendel.
A more subdued and stately ending to his 1st fully original piano concerto, but you really owe it to yourself to listen to his original rondo allegro k. 175 (vladimir ashkednazy is my favorite for this piece). To me, the original ending to the concerto is far superior to this watered-down replacement which is very lovely but missing all of the fire and life of the rondo allegro (a true rondo, which this is not). The Viennese must have been pretty boring crowds if they preferred this over the rondo allegro. It's nice to have this as an option for the evening when the rondo allegro is too much, but I can't really think of any other use for it. To me, the rondo allegro is the perfect music to represent the vitality of a 17 year old Mozart showing the music world what he can do.
I am curious, where did Mozart say he was not satisfied with the fugal Allegro-rondo from the original piece? The reason Mozart wrote a new finale was because the 5th was his very favorite concerto to perform. He knew that the Viennese public wanted agreeable, fun rondos that are easy to follow yet showcase virtuoso skills. Mozart had also formulated the idea at this stage of his career that it was necessary for people to be able to hum or sing the tunes from his pieces, otherwise they would not be able to remember him and his music. So, even though the sweeping arpeggiation of the original finale was brilliant, he knew he had to re-write it for this very reason. That is why we get a piece for his favorite concerto, a rondo finale, that is truly singable. And I believe he was correct. This piece sticks with you till the day you die, and if you know Mozart's music, this just oozes it. Brilliant man he was, he loved the original finale. He knew better than to use it in Vienna, though! So, you are a bit mislead. Mozart loved both pieces, but he knew that his public had to walk away humming something. And the last piece is the one that ought to stick with someone. By the way, check out the Howard Hughes Show on my channel. It's my new show. Maybe I'll upload a few piano sonatas for people like yourself. I'm a good player.
".... but Follett says a guy that looked like him crossed over into Switzerland a couple of days ago singing The Barber of Seville". I started laughing at that joke when I was 5, haven't stopped since XDDDD One of my favourite movies ever ruclips.net/video/7sdg2D4CtzY/видео.html
Jessica, if you play it on an A clarinet, the key signature for you will be F major, one flat. However, this kind of key rearrangement that makes life easier for the performe, is sometimes not so good for the composition.
Many thanks! I do have doubts about the appropriateness of copying and publishing performances in this way without acknowledging the musicians. They are already losing out on the royalties they would receive from purchasing CDs.
It's curious that you think that observing the repeats which Mozart intended rob the piece of tension. It is after all a rondo, the very essence of which is repeats. Furthermore when played by a musician of high calibre (as in this instance) every repeat is enjoyable.
I rate this as equal in excellence to any other movement in Mozart's piano concertos. Observing the repeats throughout, as heard in this performance, robs it of some tension, however. - John Austin, Australia
But it isn't actually a rondo, is it? It's in fact a binary theme with variations. For it to be a rondo, it would have to interpose additional material between the variations.
Repent and trust in Jesus. He's the only way. We deserve Hell because we've sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him. John 3:16 Romans 3:23❤😊❤❤
hmmm... my ethics are little flushed when it comes to performing music written two centuries before, by guys long dead, for guys long dead. Sure, you've gotten the music from the library and played it into a microphone - good on you. But then expect to be paid not for a concert, but for a few decades more, for really someone else's creation from a time long before your grandparents' grandparents were even imagined? Come on. Write a new piece. Mozart had to.
I never read anything more stupid in my life. Mozart wrote much music during his lifetime but he adored old masters, so why shouldn't we listen to old music too?
I was feeling very sad today and just hearing this beautiful music by Mozart uplifted my spirits. THANK YOU, Mozart!!!
This happens to be one of my favorite Mozart rondos to play!
This is one of my favourite compositions by W.A. Mozart.
It brings me joyful moments with harmony and peace.
Thanks for uploading it.

I love this rondo variation. I find it inspirational
I enjoyed this very much. You can never go wrong with a good Rondo.

Are you from Lebanon? Just because your profile pic...
How can something so simple be so good - it’s Mozart of course!

Ditto! And I kept wondering what concerto it was from, lol
My favorite movie
Same here!!

Thank you for the upload. Wonderful.
The pianist is Alfred Brendel with the Academy of St.Martin In the Fields, conductor Sir Neville Marriner, those are his unique cadenzas.
A;fred Brendel! Change of tempo at Cada is so subtle, marvellous!
MOZART I love you.
I LOVE YOU
loved this since hearing it in great movie "Hopscotch"
I will have you know, that this piece was Mozarts own favourite piece. I read it in his letters!❤🎉😊
Mozart was a legend
IS a legend :)
So much passion in the viola part...
my very favorite mozart piece.
Enormous amount of information about the piece, but no mention of the musicians!

magnifico volfango. grande stupefacente genio della musica.
Holy Bleepin' 3:38 !!
yes, that's my favorite part, too.
@@Engelbird You can hear Mozart's soul in this passage, yearning for something unreachable, well that's what I hear, superb!
BRAVO!!!!

Amazing film thought... Walter Matthau was a big classical music nut and chose this, as well, as a few others for the movie called "Hopscotch"
"Joe Cutter is tied to a chair in his room. You'd better cut him loose!"
"Who is this?"
"This is Eleanor Roosevelt!" Walter Matthau...HOPSCOTCH :)
+Terry McGrath Woderful movie :)
Terry McGrath this will forever be "Hopscotch" to me

F77 masterpiece since childhood
“Now I know what F.B.I. stands for ...”
wow thanks
Know where I could find the one arranged for clarinet and piano? The key is changed to Bb major.
Jessica, if you play it on an A clarinet, the key signature for you will be F major, one flat. However, this kind of key rearrangement that makes life easier for the performe, is sometimes not so good for the composition.
Some of the video description does not seem clear. Is this rondo in three movements? Anyway, in December 1773 Mozart was 17, not 18.
super relax
Maitre his students played Perfect

piano triplets! WOW

Interesting and true. Brendel brings out so many different things in each repetition that they almost sound like two different variations.
Sounds like this recording is in E flat major instead of d major?
Yes, I hear it in E flat.
👏👏👏

Michael Jackson was loving this music , it was playing outside Neverland Ranch ❤️ Magical
LOL
sean connathon whats funny here ? Lol.
Only three movements as to other standard orchestral works with piano.
I rate this as equal in excellence to any other movement in Mozart's piano concertos. Observing the repeats throughout, as heard in this performance, robs it of some tension, however. - John Austin, Australia
John Austin it's in Rondo form. It's supposed to repeat the theme.
There's no way this is equal to any of the 24th piano concerto!
If there is a way I'd like to know
8:07 best moment
Mozart wrote that only his sister should be allowed to play this.
The musicians are my neighbors and some of their friends. They are pretty good, but they can be a nuisance at midnight.

But it isn't actually a rondo, is it? It's in fact a binary theme with variations. For it to be a rondo, it would have to interpose additional material between the variations.
Right. I don't know why he called it a Rondo.
Pure perfection!
:)
