I love scenes like this because this was a decently old saying or, better yet, a saying people tend to ignore over the years.
The saying goes, "Why truly good people do good things, it's because doing good it's own reward." In this instance, A-train did a clear good deed with no benefit to him. But it felt good knowing someone saw him doing it for the right reasons. Just the fact he's saving a life, and that's it.
That's why selfless people exist and why they keep doing it. There are many multifaceted reasons, but it tends to be clear piece of mind to themselves.
