Instrument mics have been preferred by serious musicians for time in memorial, just better sound than direct for acoustics. Founfd this guitar for $100 on CL. I'm gonna buy it. Nice review.
For $100 do it! Thanks for your kind words. I've never been a big fan of direct input on acoustic guitars... always sucks the natural tone right out. Only downside to mic-ing up is you're glued to one spot on the stage. Pros and cons, peaks and valleys.
@@scottwilson7095 congrats on your new guitar! I use a simple acoustic gig bag. Seems to work just fine. I don’t take it out of the house, but if I did I’d probably look at getting something sturdier. I would think a case that fits a dreadnought should do well.
I actually have two RK's - the 12 string and the Dirty 30's Parlor. I love the Parlor for a small couch or campfire guitar or just something to put my mitts on. I really like the 12 string, but I do have a small humidity crack on the face of the guitar underneath the bridge. Honestly, it's not RK's fault. I live in a cold and dry climate (Alaska) and you see many 12 strings for sale with humidity cracks. So, it's more about my lack of care than their lack of craftsmanship. I would absolutely buy another RK. In fact, I might with how affordable their dobros and resonators are!
Thanks for subbing! I'm very happy with this instrument and continue to play it. For the money, I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised IMHO. Cheers!
@@greatwarriorgaming4075 I do! However, I live in an Arctic climate which means it’s cold and dry here, so now this guitar as got quite the humidity crack on it. Nonetheless, it still plays and sounds great!
Sweet! I dropped an LR Baggs into my RK Dirty 30s parlor guitar. Since the sound hole on that was a little smaller than the width of my pick up, my luthier had to slightly notch out a bit of the sound hole for a good fit. I don’t think you’ll have the same issue on this dreadnought though.
@@JohnBudnikBand Got it the other day I had to give a couple small cranks on the truss rod to take some relief out. It now plays very nice, sounds just like yours. Thanks for your vids they helped me hear it before buying.
Hey thanks, James! I’ve never played an Oscar Schmidt, but I think the RK’s have better brand awareness should you decide you didn’t like it and wanted to sell it.
Honest and detailed review thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it! It's been a minute since I've pulled this guitar out. I should though!
Wow, I really thought there were multiple people playing but it was just you! Hella cool. 😊
Thanks for the comment, Jacqueline! It's got a great sound. Love 12-strings!
@@JohnBudnikBand glad to see you are doing well and still rockin 😊

@@JohnBudnikBand Yeah, but it's about the music, man. Not the performance, what are you David Lee Roth, lol?
Hey John. I just ordered the same RK 12 string. No case or gigbag though. Have you found a decent case for it?

Ladies & Gentleman- presenting a young Richard Dreyfuss on guitar for your musical enjoyment. :)
I'll take it!
"She broke my heart"- Richard Dryfuss Jaws I
Great guitar. I wish they had not put electronics in it.
I’m very happy with the guitar, but admittedly underwhelmed by the electronics.
If you still have the Recording King what are your thoughts on it now?

I own this guitar without the Fishman I added the DeArmond tone boss pick up and really love the guitar. Great blues guitar 👍
Such a great value!
Yeah, Bob your reviews of this particular guitar are now famous. I know you like them.
Is your guitar currently for sale on Reverb?
@@jreagle58 yes I’m selling a few guitars
Gaines a sub. Nice review, I've always wanted a twelve string but necer have had any money. Think I'll check it out :)

Just bought one without elec. if I like it I`ll add my own pickup system.

Solid,top?
Solid Sitka Spruce!
Great video. I'm stuck between the Recording King and a Oscar Schmidt.

Thanks. I think you’ve sold me on the RK. Now I’ve got to wait for my income tax to come in.
Not a bad way to spend it!
Lot of out-of-tune notes. Needs to be tuned and set up. Twelve string guitars ring like a bell
when the intonation is set up.
Thanks!
neck looks 10 feet wide
Little thicker but not bad at all
