Hello, Roxy i wish i found you some years back I'm a zoologist also who loves Wildlife photography and looking forward into Wildlife, your photographers are amazing.
I want to be a zoologist I think. But I want to work with wildlife in Africa. I’ve done research and I can’t find a actual job title. I don’t really want to work in a zoo specifically I want to work in the African bush study the wildlife. Can some help. I also can’t for the life of me find a college or university course.
Roxy, you are an amazing young lady! You and I have a lot in common. I love to dance and sing. I wrote and performed the song "I Kissed A Croc" and "Saiga Antelope." I always loved reading about animals and still do. My favorite places to go as a little girl were the zoo, farm and aquarium. At age 10, I told my dad that I wanted to help care for wildlife that lived in my area. At age 24, I got my life long wish granted to live in a rural area. I've been studying animals and environmental causes a lot lately. I've signed many petitions to help animals. Thanks to me, the FDA no longer requires drugs to be tested on animals. I'd love to watch your film. Thanks for the info. Yes, I am trying to follow the same path as you. TYSM 4 letting me know how to start volunteering. I'll start emailing tomorrow morning.
I've honestly always loved animals, but never really thought to look into the different ways I could help/interact with them. I thought of being a vet at some point, but blood and needles kind of freak me out :(. Im a junior, so im choosing between this, and education. Wish me luck 😅
I've always loved animals and life and the way animals work and communicate and survive and think. I had (and still have) trouble deciding what to do with my life. I remember when I was younger, I imagined owning a house and adopting as many animals as I could and would take care of them. That went away and I recently remembered it a few days ago when I watched a guy wash all of his dogs on youtube. I am passionate about writing and story telling. However, I can't live off of writing the way I want to, so I had to find something that would interest me, and I am interested in a lot of things. I went from English degree jobs (which all seemed boring), to psychology, to biology. I stuck with biology and thought I wanted to be a forensic pathologist. But, I'm in my second year of college and tired of school already. It's interesting, but I'm not sure I want it that bad to make myself go through 4 more years of school, plus more with training. So, I wanted to be a pathologist assistant until I realized I would just be sitting, looking under a microscope all day and doing math stuff and budgeting and whatever. I don't want to go to school for seven to eight years (a year behind because of stuff I'm too embarrassed to say, also added a year to join the military to pay off student loans) just to get a job I find dreadful and boring. That's when I realized that I love animals and would love to work with them because they are so cute and interesting. I'm not sure it's my passion or anything, but I do know that I'd rather study animals in the field, than be stuck in a hospital all day doing budget cuts and dissecting organs (probably the best part of the job). To be honest, there's more than likely more to it and maybe it's not as bad as I think it is, but I don't want to waste time and money to find out. I mentioned I'm in my second year of undergrad. I never had the chance to, or thought about volunteering when I was in high school because I was focused on something else. I don't have a car, but when I do, I will try to volunteer as much as possible. I never wanted to be a vet because it seems that everyone wants to do that and honestly, I'm not into medicine and treating people/animals mostly because a. I might kill someone and b. you have to know all that chemistry and math and stuff. I'm just taking those classes to get my degree. I don't want to use every single thing every day because I hate math and I suck at it and chemistry is going to be a pain in my backside. So, I want to work with animals with my bio degree and go on to get my master's, but I also want to make sure that I enjoy my work and have time for myself to write and enjoy the rest of my life. I know I basically wrote a short book here, so... my bad
I'm in my late 20's I went to a year of college but left it because I felt uncertain on what I wanted to be and do I felt like I didn't belong in college and I feel like I definitely want to go back and pursue a career in animal conservation and I feel like I have a few other things I'm interested in as well like child advocacy and Environmental science I've always been interested in science and art and I feel like it would be a lot of hard work but so worth it I'd be so excited if I do go back to college and work on getting a degree and feel so rewarded to help animals and people and feel like I'm making a difference whether small or big
Hello, I was planning to go to zoology (cetaceans, canines, felines/hyenas, birds and sharks). Im interested on how living things connect in nature but i am bad at math but still interested in zoology/biology Btw I also subscribe your content awsome content. Stay safe
I’ve thought a bunch about what I want to become, but still not enough. I do know though that I want to go into a veterinary career, either as a regular vet or a zoo vet! The zoo vet thing would definitely take a lot longer though. I’ve wanted to be a vet since I was 4, so I’d be okay being any type of vet; even if it was solely for frogs or only for fish :) With that being said, zoology in a whole was something I looked a lot into- and there are so many awesome animal careers!!?! It’s going to take a loooooooooot of work, and I suck at all things math despite the fact that I’m about to be a FRESHMAN ( woah!? ), but I’m super excited to try :D I think this was supposed to be a motivational comment, guys- YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
Thank you so much for the video! Your story is incredible and so inspiring. I have always been so passionate about animals and helping them, and conservation efforts as well. The only thing that makes me nervous about a zoology degree is the heavy load of science classes. I am naturally curious, but science has always been a struggle for me, and not my favorite subject. However, a career working with animals sounds like a dream come true. Is that enough to pursue the degree? Thank you for any advice!
You are welcome! Best of luck for your own degree. I started applying for jobs about 1 month before my graduation ceremony to ensure that I could go straight into paid work :)
could you by any chance do a video going over stuff like prices of college for a major in zoology, what type of salary to expect in the field and what yours is, stuff like that. cause it sounds like a really fun and interesting field to go into but at least on google its saying 40-80k a year and im just not too sure if with that much schooling (at least with usa college prices), all that volunteer work (that a lot of the time is expensive to be able to get into to do in the first place), that salary would cut it especially if i were to plan on having a family
I’m 18 and a sophomore in college. I was going to major in biology to become a veterinarian, but now I am wondering about zoology. I’ve wanted to work with animals since I was a kid. I started shadowing veterinarians at 12, and started volunteering and rescues and shelters around 16. I worked with dogs and cats, waterfowl, reptiles, and large animals. I now am a veterinary technician at a small clinic, and I’m wondering if I should continue going the vet route, or go the zoology route. Thanks for this video!
Dope story Roxs, looking forward to more footage. I'm scared of animals that are not domestic (even domestic ones I'm careful with) so I'll watch from a crazy long virtual distance and live thru you 😂.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! Haha I have friends like that too - I promise they aren't scary though, especially when you learn to understand their behaviour!

Here I am reading that some people here changed 3-4 jobs and 23-25 years old. I am 38 almost, and midlife crisis hits me hard, I have changed like 13-15 jobs, and can’t find myself. And I am literally saying inside my head and to my friends that I wish I were 25-30! Come on, guys! 25 is nothing, no midlife crisis when you feel that you have much less energy and the speed of your learning is slower, and not so much zest for life, especially after being in this path of finding yourself for almost 10 years now. So many fears at this point. And we are no Europe, nothing like that you will see - everything is close, have many conservation centers etc. I don’t know what to do.
Thanks :) that was a birthday present from my Mum! She saw me eyeing it up at VegFest just before I did my talk then sneakily bought it without me knowing!

I am a senior in high school this year . I was always passionate about working with animals, so I discovered zoology and I feel that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life! I am an international student and I can't afford going to outsider university unless I got a financial aid or a scholarship, that's not really the problem as I just can not find a list of collages which have zoology major. I only find ones which have Evolution, ecology, or animal sciences major. So, I was wondering, is these majors are the same as zoology or what? If not can anyone help me find one that actually have a zoology major?

Hello, Roxy i wish i found you some years back I'm a zoologist also who loves Wildlife photography and looking forward into Wildlife, your photographers are amazing.
It's so nice knowing that your passions first started on Bird Island ☺️ it is such a special place for me!
Hehe yes! I actually got back in touch with them a couple of years ago to thank them and Robbie was still working there, it was so special!
HI Roxy, That is Minneriya National Park in Sri lanka.and we observed twin baby elephants in same park
I want to be a zoologist I think. But I want to work with wildlife in Africa. I’ve done research and I can’t find a actual job title. I don’t really want to work in a zoo specifically I want to work in the African bush study the wildlife. Can some help. I also can’t for the life of me find a college or university course.
Wildlife biologist, zoologist. The zoo industry borrow their name from zoology as a field of study, not the other way around, if that makes any sense.
SAME!
I go back to college may 2nd taking up BS Env Science w/conc in Nat Resources & Conservation ++. I'm excited.
I've honestly always loved animals, but never really thought to look into the different ways I could help/interact with them. I thought of being a vet at some point, but blood and needles kind of freak me out :(. Im a junior, so im choosing between this, and education. Wish me luck 😅
it helps a lot to understand about wildlife conservation and now i know what will i do.......
Hopefully I'm gonna study Zoology at Sussex uni this September. I found this video really helpful thank you! (:
Such a nice information roxy mam😍
Well done lovely channel and video. Roxy keep fighting the good fight and the best of luck
You need to be passionate about whatever you choose to do. Kudo's to you for following your passion and working hard to make your dreams come true.
this helped me out a lot, thank you so much!!
I know I basically wrote a short book here, so... my bad
I’m 13 and my high school is putting alout off pressure to no what to do this helps I no I’m young but it helps my anxiety to no what I COULD do
You’ve done so much 😭😭😭 I’m just getting started and 26 years old.. I want animals to be a huge part of my life
It’s never too late to start! Everyone has their own timeline in life
Can you guide me I did my msc in zoology and I'm just stuck what should I do next
I'm looking forward to working as a zoologist for the rest of my life after getting (at least) a bachelor's degree
Awesome! Best of luck for your zoology career!
This video is very knowledgeable and well informative ,Roxy . Here's a❤ 👍 from me.
I am definitely eager to get involved in wildlife conservation.
Happy to find this chanel and become a subscriber... 😘
Hello, I was planning to go to zoology (cetaceans, canines, felines/hyenas, birds and sharks). Im interested on how living things connect in nature but i am bad at math but still interested in zoology/biology
Btw I also subscribe your content awsome content. Stay safe
I’ve thought a bunch about what I want to become, but still not enough. I do know though that I want to go into a veterinary career, either as a regular vet or a zoo vet! The zoo vet thing would definitely take a lot longer though. I’ve wanted to be a vet since I was 4, so I’d be okay being any type of vet; even if it was solely for frogs or only for fish :)
With that being said, zoology in a whole was something I looked a lot into- and there are so many awesome animal careers!!?!
It’s going to take a loooooooooot of work, and I suck at all things math despite the fact that I’m about to be a FRESHMAN ( woah!? ), but I’m super excited to try :D
I think this was supposed to be a motivational comment, guys- YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
Same😭😭😭 I'm thinking of switching to wildlife biologist or Wildlife Conservationist atm
I have the same concern
This is so awesome!
thanks for sharing your story!! I'm a first-year zoology student and very keen on conservation. How did you find a job right after graduation? :)
This is so helpful, thank you!
Thank you so much! Great advice!
Zoology seems so cool I want to do one as a career
this is so helpful thank you!!
Thanks for the great video...!
Love the necklace!
Great advice!
Love from Kolkata, India ❤️🇮🇳
Great vid. thanks
@@RoxytheZoologist I totally agree with you on that, I think some people are born with the innate characteristics enabling them to be in tune with animals and your one of them and I know I'm not 😂but that's OK we all have our place of contribution on this earth.
Also I'm a Zoology student
Great job
I had a small dream recently of getting my zoologist degree and my veterinarian degree and opening up my own Vet Clinic
Awesome wolf necklace
Thanks :) that was a birthday present from my Mum! She saw me eyeing it up at VegFest just before I did my talk then sneakily bought it without me knowing!
Hey ! Very nice explain and you're looking so beautiful & cool .
Hi lovely ♡︎ I got accepted at a uni to do bachelor in zoology. Rather than working in a zoo I’d love to travel, work internationally so wildlife film making sounds perfect to me. However I couldn’t find a course that is about film making. Were you just able to do your master in that course? Or is it just a “subject” in a bigger course?
Hi there Roxy!! I'm 14 and I luv animal's so much and I found your video while I was searching for videos related to zoology.this video was so helpful for me.thankyou so much♥️ and do u think I could be a zoologist??
Literally living my dream :( Idk If I could do it though that's whats upsetting.
i wanna do the same job and im from seychelles 💚💚
I recently completed my masters in ecological restoration but the only experience I have is a summer internship back in 2018 with painted turtles. I recently did an interview where the person was wondering if I can handle a 40hr/wk job and the next day I got a rejection email. I think I messed up by not having more experience lol.
As a kid and into high school I wanted to work with animals or something in nature but my brother told me to do something better so that just killed my dream now I’m stuck working in a job I don’t like
I will became a zoologist
Hey. Roxy How can I get volunteering working with animals? I'am doing Agriculture and Natural Resource, but I will especially in Animal Protection or Animal Science.
I would find some places local to you that are of interest and reach out offering your time to them!
I'm working on to be a wildlife conservationist
Amazing! Best of luck
Can you make a video on your experience at the University of Queensland!? I am thinking on studying abroad there!
Wow
You seem to be a great woman
I am in sierra leone
Am interested in reading zoology
Hi there I want to be a zooologist but I live on a small British island and all I can do to get involved is visits my local zoo do you have any advice on what I can do to get more involved?
I am a senior in high school this year . I was always passionate about working with animals, so I discovered zoology and I feel that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life!
I am an international student and I can't afford going to outsider university unless I got a financial aid or a scholarship, that's not really the problem as I just can not find a list of collages which have zoology major. I only find ones which have Evolution, ecology, or animal sciences major. So, I was wondering, is these majors are the same as zoology or what? If not can anyone help me find one that actually have a zoology major?
Thankyou so much for this video Roxy .
Especially the ending sentences to prove my passion. I'm 21 presently and am pursuing a degree in forestry and wildlife science , in Kashmir . I've been an x member of the rspb and have worked for nature all my life . I really need a direction forward and a guide , can i get some help from you ?
What course did you pick at Leeds ? And how did you go to university in queensland ? I want to be a zoologist etc but I don’t know what course I need and I also want to go to Queensland to study for a bits
What about if you wanted to work in a sanctuary like in conservation. I want to be a Game Warden so I can protect but I’d also Love to take care of them
I want to be a zoologist and specifically an invertebrate zoologist and I have no idea where to start but I’m applying to colleges and I got into one but still unsure if it’s really where I want to go just yet
I love animals
So encouraging ❤️ how do you manage with volunteer work, like, do you work at the same time to sustain? And how do you find volunteer work?
Yes, when I volunteered I was at college / uni and then did it outside of my studies :)
@@RoxytheZoologist thanks ❤️ Doing biology in a few months, with a Focus on Ecology, and then a master Focus on Zoology :D
Hey,
Your content is brilliant. I am in my second year of photojournalism at SAIT in Calgary, Canada. I'm turning 40 this year. Am I to old to get into conservation. I'm a little lost of how to get into that field. Any help would great.
Hi madam your good experience in zoology and my subject zoology complete 2025 and i can taken wildlife in master please guide me
I'm currently studying level 3 animal care and I'm thinking about going into conservation. But I don't want to do Africa or something, I'd love be a conservationalist for North America, is that a thing?
Is 21 years too old to start pursuing this dream? If i volunteer and start studying zoology and get bachelor degree of that. My biggest dream is to be zookeeper, i just know i should have started earlier
*it's never tooo late!*
What the person above me said! I had a childhood friend and her mom was in college and just recently graduated with a doctorate! Also from other comments others have people who are 30 or even 40 changing and perusing new degrees!
Hi I want to be a zoologist and I’m 8 right now but idk how to get along with animals because my favorite thing is animals idk what to get started with
I majored in biology and got a bachelors, trying to figure out what to specialize in for my masters, I’m 27 now and it feels too late, as I am having a hard time choosing
Hi Roxy, I'm so glad I found your channel, i have always loved learning about different types of animals every since I was a little kid so i want to get a job involving that, i in my junior years in high school so if you don't mind I have a question, what can I do to work toward a zoology or wildlife biology?
Hey! I'm in the same boat as you and will be entering my senior year next fall, so I haven been doing research as to what I could do to possibly prepare. From what I've seen, getting involved with volunteering and your local animal shelters will help a lot, not just from getting experience for yourself, but also to look good for colleges! Good luck!
I am twelve and I am lucky that I live by a university that can go straight to herpetology! I want to travel the world in search of reptiles like the saltwater crocodile. Question: Do zoologists (and Herpetologists) get to go to different countries around the world doing projects on different species or groups of animals?
It would depend on what your job was and what you specialised in long term :)
Please Anyone. I need this book. human dimensions of wildlife management daniel j. decker, shawn j. riley, william f. siemer
Hey guys.. welcome back to my B(o Y o)bTube channel...
How did you manage to get the funds and opportunities to volunteer at these places? I want to get my feet into this degree but I'm worried about having a place to stay and food to survive off of. What's your experience and advice?
From working and saving up 😁 started working just before I was 16 and worked different jobs. I volunteered at first on my 1 day off a week during college. Then locally when I was at Uni both in Leeds and Australia. Then did more international trips once I had more savings.
