I also thought of FRIEND, LOVER, SISTER, MOTHER, WIFE song that he wrote for his wedding song to Mayte…..it's the ultimate expression of love for someone. She represented his deepest sentiments that one would share genuine love in all these separate categories...but he combined all these categories of honor and love in one deeply intimate sentiment for Mayte at the time! It made me cry because of the beauty within his heart towards her. This is a great wedding dedication song also for a man to offer to his wife. Guess I am partial to the younger set,as I was a Teacher for the Hearing Impaired and Autistic Children for 26 years. My heart is with our future Adults Of America who have special needs. Thank you PF for helping to include many youth learn and to discuss music.. In most schools, music has been removed from our schools. I didn’t teach music ,but I love it. Oddly enough, I'd never really paid that close attention to that song until I saw your review on Sign O The Times and the first time I listened to it after watching the review it did make me cry. Now I've listened to it every day since then. That's the type of forever every man hopes to one day have. Then of course Sometimes It Snows In April. Makes me cry a river every time I hear it. Not only for Prince who is my musical hero, but it also makes me think of my cousin who passed away over 20 years ago.

I'm 15 aswell my dad and mum showed me prince when I was little but didn't get into prince until this beginning of this year and at the moment 80's prince is more enjoyable for me. I'm still going through the discography but right now 1980 to 1993 prince is what I better connect with but hope to get into his more recent music at some point😃

Having an old person moment. Ypu see, back in the olden days, an actual "tear jerker" involved a sad, sloppy story that was strategically written to make ypu cry and not just a song that was emotional or poignant. The term was a bit derogatory...it applied to soap operas, melodrama and songs like Last Kiss or Tell Laura I Love Her. The closest I can think of to an actual classic tear jerker by Prince would be I Could Never Take the Pace of Your Man, and even then...Prince is not sloppy about it, just natural
"Forever In My Life"......was one of our Prince Wedding songs along with "Diamonds and Pearls" and "Adore". I had to get Mom's approval for "Adore" do to one of the lines. lol Beautiful Ones.....tell me a guy that hasn't had this playing out loud while his heart beats for that one special woman.

Oddly enough, I'd never really paid that close attention to that song until I saw your review on Sign O The Times and the first time I listened to it after watching the review it did make me cry. Now I've listened to it every day since then. That's the type of forever every man hopes to one day have. Then of course Sometimes It Snows In April. Makes me cry a river every time I hear it. Not only for Prince who is my musical hero, but it also makes me think of my cousin who passed away over 20 years ago.
Forever in my life is a powerful song. I’m honored I was able to bring it to life for you, but yes, that shows how great Prince’s music really is. :)

I'm 15 aswell my dad and mum showed me prince when I was little but didn't get into prince until this beginning of this year and at the moment 80's prince is more enjoyable for me. I'm still going through the discography but right now 1980 to 1993 prince is what I better connect with but hope to get into his more recent music at some point😃
I love Sometimes it snows in April. It makes me think of happier times with two friends, but also of the things I wish I had said to them when I had the chance. It now makes me think of Prince too, because he is sadly no longer with us.

I've really enjoyed this discussion. "For You" is tears of joy because the beauty is almost unbearable. What a song to start a career. Fantastic choice Funk Child. "Sometimes it Snows in April" and "The Beautiful Ones" are so emotional and get me every time. There's a live version of "Motherless Child" from 1999 that is just incredible, wow you can tell it's personal even though it's an old spiritual.

One of the Tearjerkers of ALL TIME for me is I Love You,But I Don’t Trust You Anymore,because ironically I was listening to this particular song,and was crying Exactly three months before his passing like I knew something was going to happen to him,and it did. Having an old person moment. Ypu see, back in the olden days, an actual "tear jerker" involved a sad, sloppy story that was strategically written to make ypu cry and not just a song that was emotional or poignant. The term was a bit derogatory...it applied to soap operas, melodrama and songs like Last Kiss or Tell Laura I Love Her. The closest I can think of to an actual classic tear jerker by Prince would be I Could Never Take the Pace of Your Man, and even then...Prince is not sloppy about it, just natural
"Forever In My Life"......was one of our Prince Wedding songs along with "Diamonds and Pearls" and "Adore". I had to get Mom's approval for "Adore" do to one of the lines. lol

I love the list, very good choices and I am glad that "SINIA" is up there, I wish "Curious Child" was on there, it's a beautiful song, different and it seems vulnerable 2 a fairy tale that u r w8ing 2 read what will happen, in my opinion let alone "Until U're In My Arms Again" or "Goodbye" and even "Mama (aka Where's The Butterflies)" but as far as "Nothing Compares 2 U," as a collector, the best version that makes me cry HARD, if I can add, a rehearsal of the Nude Tour, WAY better than his and Sinead's recording, if u listen 2 that rehearsal version of that song, it will make the eyes misty and give u chills.
