Man I think that when I updated my taigen panther g gears to the black steel 4:1s was money WELL spent!! I have recently put these gears to the test I must say I am very pleased and still running very strong after much abuse!! And thanks oddball for a very informative video!!
Great vid oddball as l would expect. As far as lubrication, the oil goes everywhere, an the grease gets bits of sand an grit that gets into the tank. So l find the best lubrication is powered graphite. It has very good lubrication properties. Once run in does not fling an does not attract any grime or grit. I also use it in my 1/6 scale LEOPARD 2A6. An have not yet had any problems after prolonged use. Scott
I never run on sand, so I never thought about that but yes that is a valid point. Also Interesting lubrication solution with the graphite, I may look into this for the future. Thanks!
@@oddball759mm i dont think it will fit perfectly oké other question :p i one of your videos you said that the electronics of mato was the worst is it possible to fit taigen electronics to the mato tank ?
@@HappyDude1 if the current mato uppers use the same locking system as the old one I worked on then no it wont work on the taigen without some heavy mods. Also I don't think the taigen torsion bar suspension can take the added weight of the metal upper and metal turret combined. The old mato I worked on had really bad electronics yes, and in that video series I also say that all were gutted out and replaced with the taigen system. I was also told that new mato tanks use a different system than the one found on my example but since I have not worked on a mato kit since I can't say
@@HappyDude1 the plugs are all the same. And the taigen system has the receiver built in. The new taigen motherboards have the option where you can bypass the built in receiver and use your own radio like a futaba
It's not needed. The gearbox already has bearings for the final drive shafts and the length to the sprocket is not very large. You can mod the tank's molded final drive plastic housing and add them if you want but it's not something that is required
basically what ever grease I have on hand. In the past I've used marine grease and also high temp grease. Rule of thumb is to not overdo the application. Too much can strain the motors, so just a little dab here and there will be suffice
At 19:01 min. The external side transmission on the Tiger without ball bearings? If you want to attach metal rollers, drive and slack wheel (tension roller) as well as metal chains to the Tiger, because of the extreme weight!
tiger I don't have tension roller, like the panther. Some people add a rollers, but from what I have seen it's not necessary on these 1/16 models. The weight of the tracks is not an issue in this scale even in metal
Does this happen on a Turn or when going straight? Does this happen on the road or in the dirt? is your track tension too loose? Are the tracks and sprocket metal or plastic?
been using the permetex stuff for a decade on plastic, havn't had a problem with it yet. Also I think the plastic is polystyrene, ABS has a different feel to it In my experience
Not too many videos like this out there, this is much appreciated, and I've been finding out that most rc tanks use the same system.
You’re the only RUclipsr I watch that dose model RC tanks.
(Love your Videos!)

Great video brother. Total agree that the sink alloy are rubbish!
Oddball, Excellent tutorial. Just what I needed. My metal Taigen Tiger 1 came with crappy zinc boxes that stripped out in 1 hour.

can you tell me if a metal mato upper shell will fit on the lower taigen shell ?
on the tiger 1 model
I can't say since I don't have any mato uppers here in the shop at present.

Owke do the cables of the mato tank fit into the taigen board ?
And is the reciver allready on the taigen board ?

I’ll will be ordering some for my MATO Metal Tiger tank.
What about support bearings on the sprocket? Thanks for uploading this!

I had no idea it was plug and play, I’m over here with my T-72 trying to figure out if I’d have to connect the wires myself lol
yeah these systems are made to be very user friendly, good luck with the T72
wich grease do you think is best for steel gears ?

It's pot metal isn't it?
