- I'm pretty sure the manual said don't run it in mud or water....whoops! Decided my Heng Long Tiger 1 RC Tank needed to get muddy, so took it for a mud run!
It actually did really well, although there was some crunching noises coming from the gears on a few occasions! Sorry tank!

@ballz3861 I haven't had that issue on mine yet. Mine is the beginner version, so plastic instead of metal, but surprised how well its held up so far. 👍
@@DoURC have you had any issues with water getting into the battery bay while mudding?

Yeah the gears weren't sounding happy at times, but then they didn't sound happy when driving it gently. Its a heavy tank so metal is needed, may as well get my monies worth out of the plastic ey! 🤣🤦

The plastic undercarriage and gearboxes coped very well with such dirt, although at some points a ratchet was heard protecting against overload)
Yeah the plastic gear version isn't very strong. I'd definitely recommend the full metal version. 👍

Yeah I don't think the gears liked me very much in the mud, but it all still works. 👍

It's great fun, if you've got the stock plastic one, the gears won't be too happy if you push it hard. The metal version is better. Mine survived though! 🤣👍
Wow thanks for letting me know. I wasn't going to run it hard or for long periods of time. I'm mostly interested in learning how to weather it and do some detailed painting. Well detailed for me anyways.
I wonder about soft sand or pebbles clogging up the tracks?
There is just something about WWII tanks that really interests me. Innovation was quite pervasive during that time. @@DoURC

Yeah, sand and stuff will probably damage the gears and tracks, you can get metal versions. 👍

I'll keep watching. I like bashing around with my cars but that and filming is a PITA. Setting up a nice scale scene with military or construction rigs would be a blast. @@DoURC
Well that is one way to get that weathered look to the tracks and road wheels! The transmission did not like some of that goop!

My dad has a collection of henglong tanks. He has this exact tiger 1 but he painted it a desert camoflauge

I just gently rinsed mine. I'd suggest get the metal upgrade versions as they're tougher. 👍

I'm planning on doing a general cleaning video soon. For this I just gave the tracks a gentle rinse tbh as its not waterproof so you have to be careful. 👍

I bought mine from Ebay, but you can get them from Aliexpress etc too. Just search Heng Long 1/16 Tiger Tank. 👍

Just gave it a gentle rinse on the tracks. It's not waterproof, so you need to be careful of the electronics. 👍
Are all heng long tanks waterproof straight out of the box ?
No they're not, mine isn't either. Still survived though, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're worried about breaking it. 👍
How long did it take to clean? Did you just drive through a puddle to get the thick muck off?
I am a fair-weather RC enthusiast, took my Arrma Vorteks out in the woods and they were so caked in mud it took me ages to clean them so from then on I decided fair-weather only lol! But man this looks fun going through the mud with an RC tank! Defo getting a Heng Long King Tiger in the new year!
I generally mud everything I own, which you can probably tell from my channel! 🤣
I gave it a gentle rinse at home on the tracks. The electronics aren't waterproof, so if you don't waterproof them just br careful not to soak them.
For my crawlers, I generally run them through water while out, then rinse at home, dry sand coat in gt85 ready for next time.
Water and mud does break stuff though. 👍
@@DoURC Thanks for the heads-up regarding waterproofing I will definitely look into doing that when I get my tank in the new year, think they are in stock Jan 10th with Elite Models UK. I'm going to weather mine and put some foliage on it etc. Good channel mate, enjoy watching the mudding ones lol.

Look at the pro versions, bit more expensive but have upgraded metal parts.

@@DoURC Any specific brand of coating? The spray can stuff? Oh hell yeah definitely going with the Pro King Tiger as it is more cost effective to spend the £280 on it because I saw if you buy the standard king tiger for £180 it will cost another £200 at least for the metal upgrades plus labor to fit them so it just makes sense to just go for the pro one.
I would of got the Tiger 1 but my old man bought that one so didn't want to be a copy cat although it does look the business!
I was looking at the Hooben 1/10 scale tanks but my missus would go ballistic if I spent over £1500 of savings on an RC Tank LOL! So I'll settle with the Heng Long King Tiger Pro! 🤣

@@DoURC seems a bit dangerous cuz the battery sits right underneath the tank, still quiet impressive to see that its going through all of that mud and water, so its clearly splash proof... but i might not test it with mine, once a drop hits the Mainboard its over.... 😂😂😂
@lets_windturbine 🤣 Yeah I wouldn't advise it. Battery would probably be fine, it's the electronics that won't be. You could coat them in conformal coating to waterproof them. 👍
