CORRECTION: The measurements to mark on the body of the card holder are 1.5", 5" and 5". In the video I say 1" down. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Good start on tutorial, but when it comes to putting the peltex in and sewing you skipped over it. This is a very important step that I would like to have seen. I know how to clip threads.

I really was hoping to understand and make this. But I wish her explanation and showing was better. I am stuck at the end. At the spot where she is putting the two Velcro together. But is the stuff inside supposed to be at the very end on the top and bottom? And if so, how do you bend it to get the Velcro to meet?

Brenda, I just rewatched the video to refresh myself. As you add each piece of Peltex you push it in as far as it will go and then stitch right beside it to hold it in place. When you add the last piece of Peltex it should come very close to the velcro. Stitch right beside the Peltex at the left side of the velcro and then stitch the card holder closed (on the right side of the velcro) like Lori did in the video. Now the velcro edge has no Peltex in it so it can be bent. Watch how Lori folds it back to meet the velcro on the bottom. Let me know if you have any other questions. Lisa

I can't figure out where you sewed the 2nd piece of velcro, as I am not able to view the whole piece. It looks like it may be on the back side at top, but do I sew it though both pieces of fabric? That is where I have the closed end. If the stiff piece is already sewn to edge, how can I sew it on?

Hi Donna. The last piece of Velcro is sewn through all layers on the exact opposite of the first. Sew through all layers. I talk about it at 11:04 during the video. I hope you can see that since you said you couldn’t see the entire video. Enjoy!
In the beginning you say to measure down 1” from the top. When you are

Does Veltex make a fusible? This is a great project for my sister's senior center as they play many card games. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Hi Fran. Peltex has both one-sided and two-sided products. 71F is one-sided, 72F is two-sided. Hope that helps!

Hi Bronwyn, the card holder really needs to be stiff. You could use Soft & Stable along with Decorbond/Craftex. Also, if you use a fabric stiffener like Terial Magic along with several layers of non-woven interfacing on all fabrics you might get away with it. I've known of some who cut cereal boxes and slip them in. It is sturdy enough to stand them up.
What does peltex look like ???
It's quite a stiff stabilizer that's about 1/8" thick. You can search on the Peltex website to see it.

When did you use the Peltex?
The Peltex is inserted after the completed front is attached to the back on all three sides. Slide each Peltex piece in one at a time, edge stitching after each piece.
Can I use foam or cardboard
I guess you could try but I've never used them for this project.

I can see where your having a hard time with this. She could have shown each step with the peltex instead of explaining it. Most people are visual learners like myself, but I understood what she was saying, but others may find it hard to follow that part of the video because she didn't show how she did that step, but just explained it. When doing a video tutorial you should always show each step of the project for those who need to see what your doing. Same with putting on the last piece of Velcro... I appreciate the fact people are making video tutorials, but if your going to make something please show it ALL from beginning to end so that people can see the whole process.
when marking the front long piece she corrected her measurement. Measure down from the edge 1 1/2", then 5" down from that mark, then again 5" from that mark...You will have 3 marks on the front of your long piece. The first 5" line that you marked after marking the 1 1/2" line you will measure 1" away (take your ruler and measure over 1" from that drawn line, and this is where you will lay your first pocket, and then stitch across the bottom with a 1/8" seam allowance to hold it in place, then from the pocket top measure down 1" again and lay your second pocket piece, and sew along the bottom of that one, then do the same with the 3rd pocket. You will then sew the sides...I would do a 1/8" seam instead of a scant 1/4" like she says just to make sure you don't see that stitch when sewing up the sides. When sewing the first Velcro piece your going to lay that scratchy side piece up against the drawn 1 1/2" drawn line closest to the edge, and not above that line, and stitch that down. When following the peltex installation you will put the first piece inside and but it up close to the inside edges, and press it with an iron if its fusible and it helps so it doesn't move on you when you topstitch near the edge of it. Then take your 2nd peltex piece and shove it in there close to where you just topstitched, and press that with an iron again, and topstitch that one near the edge, then repeat this with the last piece of peltex...Turn your project to the "Backside", and at the opposite end from the velcro you put on the front, lay your other piece of velcro near that edge, and stitch that down. I need more help with putting in the stuff that makes it stand up. You skimped on directions there and some of us don’t know what that stuff is.
