*Would you still go to shows if you couldn't mosh?*
Yes yes I would
Whew...depends on the band...damn, I don't know how I'd react I guess until I got there.
Kinda like..could you go to the theater and not eat popcorn? I mean yeah...but WTF? Ya know!? 🤘👍
Yes, and i would mosh and get kicked out 🤘
Fuck no, moshing is what metal is all about, without it its just not it.
Loved how the drummer took it as his time to shine, and boy was he good!
I know him, he went to my high school!
The “I’m begging you, don’t do it!” kills me😂😂
I cracked up so hard. 🤣
He was trolling em so hard 😅
"We're a band called... **jimmy eat world???** " fucking killed me 😭
I've went to a few concerts where the venue had "No Moshing" signs, but in general they really didn't care as long as stuff wasn't getting broken. The security would basically only say something if the barriers get bumped too hard or something. This is kinda nuts imo
In my experience it's just so the venue can avoid liability. "We had signs that say no moshing, but they did it anyway, not our fault Sammy blew his knee out!" type energy. This is the first time I've actually heard of a venue cutting the PA.
At most venues, “No moshing” means “Yes moshing”
Warped tour had big no moshing signs, that was only so the venue wasn't responsible for injuries.
I bet it all started from some person who threatened to sue during a mosh and got injured, and now every venues says that to cover their asses
There was a local venue that had a No Moshing sign in the mid-2000s. Most of the bands that played there were the then-up and coming hardcore, punk, and metal bands. At first they tried enforcing that ban by kicking people out. That quickly changed after bands started refusing to play there.
I remember going to a local show in college where the venue had a strict "no moshing" policy. Everybody was kinda bummed and energy was low until one of the bands just told everyone to run in place to the music instead.
It was phenomenal to see about 150 high school and college kids all doing the running man in sync like some sort of wacky Broadway production while the band slammed for their 20 minute set.
That's gold
Sounds like an attack attack video
Not as weird as people sitting down and "rowing" at metal concerts
Is called 2 steppin bro
I saw AVOID last year at the Worcester Palladium. They go hard and provide a super fun set. Highly recommend seeing them.
What type of music do they play?
@@andrewdavismusic5020 it's high energy metalcore and post-hardcore type stuff.
I second this! Benny is so damn charismatic
Dude I love the palladium so much
Seen them open up for Fit For A King and The Devil Where’s Prada in KC. They came on and Benny the first thing he did was come out and hit a long scream, and I was like this is good shit
I recently went to the Plot in you in Orlando and the venue had signs saying NO MOSHING NO CROWDSURFING you will be escorted outside NO REFUNDS. People still moshed and surfed. The bands loved it 🤣
Did they get kicked out?😂
@@Wyattgonzo1 not the same band but I saw polyphia in Orlando. Signs everywhere said no moshing or crowd surfing but then Scott was like “I don’t think Tim is gonna play if we don’t get some crowd surfing!” And then at the end they had a mosh pit.
To answer your question, security would man handle the surfers and then escort them out. A minute or two later you’d see the person come back in though, as for the mosh they didn’t do anything about that.
The Beacham !
AVOID is such a great band too
- No, guys, like srlsy. Please dont mosh. Ayways, here's our heaviest banger :)
This shit was the best thing that could've happend to Avoid
"Please respect your surroundings!"
I saw Avoid in Lititz, Pa a month ago and it was the same damn thing except the venue didn’t cut the pa. Security was pissed with people trying to mosh and crowd surfing. Avoid kept shouting at the crowd “Don’t you dare mosh….don’t even think of it!” Legendary!
The AVOID boys are great. I love them so much and their set being cut was a joke. The vid was hilarious.
I saw this tour earlier on and it was an amazing show. AVOID has so much energy and even though most of the crowd didn't know their music, they got people really into it and tons of them went up to merch to say hi and that they loved their set. I hope this incident (it was at a casino in Pittsburg, Kansas, by the way) gives them a boost. Super fun, nice guys. And yes, that was Telle, and the guy near the begining with the mustache who was on stage giving them drinks was Daniel Nelson, TWA's drummer. Pop Evil was the headliner. It might have actually been TWA's tour manager/photographer who took the video, Wolfe Eliot.
I had a similar experience with Cryptodira (they're labelled as extreme prog metal, not the best for moshing). No one was really moving for the first 2 songs, but after that, everyone was headbanging and jumping around like the band was. They were a lot of fun; left the venue with their debut album and the headliners were incredible (BTBAM and Haken).
Nik: All they said was move, I don't understand.
The band: LET'S SEE SOME FUCKED UP SHIT 😂
I went to see Phaseone at a venue in LA, and the venue was anti moshing. People kept trying to mosh, and security kept trying to get in the way to break it up. There was one security guy that had a red shirt instead, so I think he may have been head security there or something but he was being way more aggressive than a mosh pit would even be and was putting people in a chokehold until they stopped. He wasn't even kicking them out he was just straight up assaulting people in the crowd.
Insert comment about California sucking
Hope that security guard works a hardcore show and tries to pull that shit. He'd learn a hard lesson that day lol.
@Jonathan-A.C. Most venues here don't care. The one I was at was technically a club that typically does DJ stuff and rap shows, so I think they just didn't understand the culture
Imagine telling this to the Boston/New England heavy music scene. 😂😂😂
They just couldn’t AVOID moshing
Kicked 🍑ss
badumtss
This is gonna kill the venue
We can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance
And if they don't dance
Well, they're no friends of mine
Say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come
From out of this world
Leave the real one far behind
And we can dance
Or sing
We can go when we want to
Night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat
From our hats to our feet
And surprise 'em with the victory cry
Say, we can act if we want to
If we don't, nobody will
And you can act real rude and totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile
And say, we can dance, we can dance
Everything's out of control
We can dance, we can dance
They're doing it from pole to pole
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody's taking the chance
Safety dance
Oh well, the safety dance
Ah yes, the safety dance
We can dance if we want to
We've got all your life and mine
As long as we abuse it, never gonna lose it
Everything'll work out right
I say, we can dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Because your friends don't dance
And if they don't dance
Well, they're no friends of mine
I say, we can dance, we can dance
Everything's out of control
We can dance, we can dance
We're doing it from pole to pole
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody's taking the chance
Oh well, the safety dance
Ah yes, the safety dance
Oh well, the safety dance
Oh well, the safety dance
Oh yes, the safety dance
Oh, the safety dance, yeah
Well, it's the safety dance
It's the safety dance
Well, it's the safety dance
Well, it's the safety dance
Oh, it's the safety dance
Oh, it's the safety dance
Based
if i was in a band i would have in my contract that the venue cannot cut the set or they don't get merch fees and they have to go up onstage themselves and tell the audience why they cut the set resulting in them probably getting their shit stomped in after by the crowd
Id have the manager ask if they have a no mosh policy and if they do to not book that venue. And also have it stated that the venue can not enforce one on day off or risk legal action for violating a contract.
I get that it's probably an insurance liability thing, but if that's the case don't book heavy music bands. You avoid the whole situation all together.
Avoid is one of the best bands live period 😂 their vocalist is the funniest fucking dude I stg😂 one time at VIP for fit for a king during their acoustic set he just comes out starts doing cartwheels and rolling around on the ground screaming😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah, they're fun as hell. One moment their vocalist had the mix stand and the bassist was jerking it off. Avoid kicks ass.
Who can really resist a good mosh, though 😂
They’re hilarious. Nik needs to have Benny on for a Friday stream. He’s got Will Ramos golden retriever energy.
Nearly 3 months later and Avoid has become one of my favourite bands this year. Absolutely love them and will be a fan for life.
They opened for The Word Alive and Pop Evil. It was a great tour!!!
i love this band so much. their music is good, but the energy is nearly second to none. such fun guys
That's exactly it! Haven't felt a stage presence like theirs before
warped tour used to have the "no moshing" signs and its pretty much just a legal cover so that if anyone gets hurt they cant sue the venue. they were probably just covering their asses but maybe a bit too far
RESPECT YOUR SURROUNDINGS
I got thrown out of the house of blues I Chicago for stage diving at a ska show(lmfao). That's not entirely unexpected, what was unexpected was the security guard who just in absolute bewilderment that someone would do something like that. "I have NEVER IN MY LIFE seen someone do something like that, how does your brain operate?" I asked him if he had worked the Monday a few weeks prior, which he did. Another guard had to take over because I told him he was either lying or sucked ass at his job because whitechapel played that day I, along with several other people were doing the same thing for most of their set.
Has he never seen a cartoon with an rock and roll episode??? They literally always have crowdsurfing and shit
The chariot “Perth” is the craziest video simular to this. Someone does something dumb and breaks stuff show gets canceled, witty banter ensues! Then some dude was like you guys can play at my house, so half the concert shows up and house show madness ensues! The Chariot always put on an amazing live show, but that one is legendary!
I love this band so much. One of the best live shows and atmospheres I’ve ever seen. Genuinely cool guys too.
Avoid is one of the best up and coming bands we have to date, huge energy and killer shows. Benny is such a nice dude, all the guys are awesome. Seen them twice in the last year, most recently with The Plot in You and Bad Omens before that
gosh, I love Germany right now. Never seen a "No Mosh" sign here ever. Barriers are built to hold tanks, if somebody goes nuts the crowd usually shuts them down before security needs to step in, and if needed security just throws people out and blacklists them. Most of the time security just vibes the show on their side of the barrier and catches crowd surfer. Many bands here have their own traditions with moshing like Feuerschwanz with "Schubsetanz" (an odd translation of moshing to german), our beloved E-Callboys, and who doesn`t move to Rammstein has some serious health issues.
But we also have a healthcare system, if you should get hurt it`s not the venue`s business. Up to a few days off work, you are covered by your, if it`s more serious it`s the business of whoever runs over you and his insurance. Well and if you destroy something you have to pay for it, but as mentioned most venues are built to stay forever. At least around the pit.
Living in germany, a while ago i had my first moshpit experience. I saw someone fall over and within seconds 5 people reached out to help him up at the same time.
They didn't play Finish Line 2 when I saw them, so they intentionally decided to play their heaviest song to piss them off. Love these guys, one of the best live presences I've ever seen.
I recently went to knotfest in Melbourne, and they had big no moshing signs, yet everyone was moshing and crowd surfing.
And that includes Winston McCall crowd surfing during Parkway Drive’s set.
Seems it’s mostly a liability thing.
Can’t say I’ve ever been to a concert that was shut down in response to moshing.
Oh hey, I was at that too!
And yep, the only time any band stopped anything was Slipknot cuz that one wanker climbed the pole that was gonna spew out fire or something xD
It is 100% a liability thing. Someone probably tried to sue a venue after they got injured and now almost every venue i go to have "no moshing" signs that everyone ignores
*sees video title*
“jokes on you, I don’t know how to”
RIP 😢
The strumming on the ground 😂
😂
this is the metal equivalent to planet fitness' lunk alarm
just left the whitechapel, archspire, signs of the swarm, and entheos show and there was a whole lotta moshing and a whole lotta encouraging
That was "Avoid" 😢😢 A great band sick music 🔥🤘 Like Nik said big win 🔥🤘 to them ! Can't wait to see them live someday. Never went to a "No moshing venue" before.
Every damn venue has a no moshing sign. Even Knotfest had a no moshing/crowdsurfing sign lmao
Imagine paying money only to be treated like a high schooler on a field trip.
Facts
I remember when Upheavel Festival tried to send security to stop the pit once
New Breakdown call out is unlocked: „NO MOSHING ALLOWED“ and then everybody kill each other 😂
Saw them live a few months back, got hit with weezer meme and random red hot lines.
Best opener we’ed ever seen.
I didn't realise this was avoid until halfway through when you said good for avoid 😂 crazy how a band I actually found when they were small is having this funny ass shit happen to them, and my favourite song of their's is produced to sound like a live recording, honestly I just wanna see them perform now
Saw Hatebreed last year in Toronto, Jamey smiles maniacally while getting people to form a circle pit 😂
Went to an I prevail concert with PTV and FFAK (and stand atlantic) and we all got slips that said no moshing when the tickets got checked... half the crowd was moshing and I prevail directed two circle pits to merge... venue let it happen lol. Like what did they expect
at Wacken Open Air when i was there in like 2010 or 11 when boss hoss was there and telling all the time the people dont mosh. A lot of people myself included hated it and either moshed regardless or left the stageground.
Im coming out of pit retirement for Pantera this fall...see how my 40 year ass survives.
Just remember the 3 basic rules:
1. Always be aware of your surroundings
2. Have fun
3. Show no mercy
I got kicked out of a mushroomhead show for starting a mosh pit. I kept sneaking through the smoking section and kicked out again like 5 times in this shithole venue. It was actually quite a comical night.
Avoid is a fun band to see live I saw them with FFaK and he also filled in for hollow fronts vocalist on back to back sets I would definitely see them again
I literally played a few shows back in the day that moved the pool tables close to stage to keep our fans from moshing. Then cut p.a. when people danced on pool tables then called other venues we were playing at to warn them
I remember Mohegan Sun when they first built their arena and had heavier bands play the floor still had seats. So no moshing and good luck with the 80 year old security trying to catch body surfers. But one day they open the floor to GA and it was glorious
Good for them going with Option B and not option Ronnie Radke lol
So at rockfest I bought pit passes to be up front so I could get savage on the pit. Turns out even in the PIT pass area you're not allowed to pit? Needless to say it was extremely awkward when Attila started "Mosh Pit" and they kept screaming WTF are you doing!? Start a mosh pit! And we all, under threat of being kicked out, had to scream "security won't let us!".
If im AVOID im saying "dont you dare mosh" at every show lol
I went to Earth Day Birthday and they had signs saying no mashing or crowd surfing. There were crowd surfers holding the the no crowd surfing signs and security was cool was it.
We are a *mostly* tame people here in Lincoln NE so I was slightly (very) disappointed when I was the only one jumping and enjoying myself in the group right in front of the stage at a huge Shinedown concert the other day
I could tell the bands were trying their hardest to get energy up, and I kept second guessing myself like "are concerts really not what I thought they were? Am I actually supposed to just stand here and stare motionless and quiet as they play?"
Welcome to Australian rules in clubs. Every venue around me within a two hour drive demands this crap. They expect you to sit through anything where moshing should be a given.
Knotfest in Australia had “no mosh” signs.
The bands did not get the memo, and we did not care
I WANT TO SEE EVERYONE IN THAT PIT HUGGING
IF YOU SEE SOMEONE FALL DOWN, PICK THEM UP, WRAP THEM UP IN A BLANKET LIKE A BURRITO, AND GIVE THEM A LITTLE FOREHEAD KISS
This one’s called Don’t Go
These venues think every band is gonna be like Pintglass or Sunami or sum 💀
Check out the Callous Daoboys playing in a library. You can have lots of fun without destroying the place lol. Idk what the worry is
Avoid is great. Got to see em in Dallas a bit ago. So fun.
Avoid is badass if you get the chance to see them do it
Why would you even host a metal, punk or core show and not allow moshing? Up next, we open a casino where gambling is forbidden!
Knotfest Sydney also had a massive banner saying don't mosh, no pits of death etc. Yet all of this happened and no one cared. I thought they just needed to put it up for liability, didn't know that some venues were actually enforcing it :/
these dudes seem like they put on a very enjoyable show
I had no clue who this band was and after looking at some of their music I went to follow their instagram and realized there opening for wage war who I’m seeing in a few months.
I live in the Netherlands and the sign means no crowd surfing here, I can stand with that since a piercing in my ear got effed up by one
I went to Good Things Festival in December and the venue said no moshing and when it came time for BMTH's set, the first thing Ollie did was make a wall of death LMAO
And there were ppl who brought beach balls and were throwing them around in the pit too, that was so funny
Festivals have "NO MOSHING" signs, so artist avoid the word 'mosh' and just call for circle pits lol
Damn they even got the professional on stage shots for this show
Dennyscore will always reign supreme though
It would be funny if it was like an inside joke to not mosh at their show ever again 😂
As I said on the TikTok…for educational purposes what is the venue this took place in so I make sure to never visit it in my life 😂😂
There’s one place I play at that doesn’t allow moshing. But it’s because it’s in the guy’s backyard and he has a fire pit.
Epica told the crowd in Pittsburgh to do a "wall of group hugs" when they played Consign to Oblivion.
I can’t see a bunch of dudes running toward each other for a hug but sounds epic
Knotfest Aus Had Signs Saying No Moshing Every Festival I’ve Been To In The Past 12 Months Have All Had No Moshing, Circle Pits , Wall Of Deaths Etc It’s Getting Crazy
Why is every word capitalised?
It didn't stop anyone though... 🤘
@@ianholmes6568 CUZ HE WANTS
@@CoreyFromTactoys HELL NAH IT DIDNT
@@ianholmes6568 many people have asked I still don’t have an answer
Never heard of them before but like you said because of this it's just free publicity and that drummer is actually insane. Like he should've just played the rest of whatever time they had by himself.
Most of the time they only put that so if someone gets hurt they won’t get sued. They won’t care if you mosh as long as you don’t stage dive/ crowd surf
WTH is that no moshing stupidity? Tear the place down. 3:17 you had the perfect pulse on what they were thinking
Just went to a Molchat Doma show and there was a fucking mosh pit going. And pure coincidence the main guy encouraging all of it looks just like dude with the orange shorts. Lmao.
don't you dare have a good time in our venue
This exact thing was the beginning of the end for Warped Tour...just ask Vans how that worked out. 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Have seen a couple times where it was stated no surfing or going over barricade. Not 100% sure, but they may have been tossing people out that made it all the way front. At least were escorting them closely from front so they didn't get on stage.
I was at a show recently (forget who I say unfortunately) and we sent my buddy up surfing. When he returned he told us that security told him if he did it again they would toss him. Found out later they wanted to discourage it as they couldn't get enough people that night to safely help surfers get over the rail. Makes sense, but still a bummer.
Bro literally no one in the crowd was moshing wtf? I read an article headline about this and thought it was dumb but I had no idea the situation was *this* stupid lol
Scotland haven't been moshing as much now, and Scotland are known for having the most brutal pits!
Yes.. just don't destroy the venue.. apart from that go nuts
i love how one of the guitarist only used Jim root guitar... not gunna lie good choice
this reminds me of a i killed the prom queen concert back in the day as in they had similar issues with the venue
4:48 he looks like T.J. Miller 🤣
Please don't disrespect your surroundings! 🤣
What venue is this? Need to know where to "avoid" 😏
Lemonade out of lemons 🍋🩳
never heard of avoid but gonna check them out right now!!! lol... they look like a fun band!!!! hahahaha
Hilarious cause we told people at church last year to calm down because the moshing was TOO hard
Oooooof... NJ/NYC would neverrrrr lol... Last Knocked Loose show I was at Bryan said "PUNCH THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU!!!!" Sure sometimes people get hurt but I think that's a personal risk and choice you take... god forbid we make our own choices about our health and safety amirite lol
Scott Vogel has entered the stage
