Book Review for Elle Stephens "Stand in the Sun"

This book, I read on my Kindle app on my phone, because it was a free download from the author. I jump at the chance to save money, but that also means, you review their book as a courtesy. If I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t say anything at all… so I’m here because I liked it!
An author local to my area, Elle Stephens and her book “Stand in the Sun”. The book is available in both print and digital form.

This book is in the romance genre, which isn’t a genre I usually seek out. However, I did find this an easy read and I kept coming back to finish it, and found myself thinking about it, being drawn back to finish it. While in a sense, because of the genre, we know there will be struggles, we know there will be some loooooove, and we know how it ends, the journey is the part that the reader gets to enjoy. When it’s well-written like this book and doesn’t feel cheesy like a “stereotypical” romance novel, the author, in this case Elle Stephens, has done a good job of being a part of the genre, but being apart from the genre, eh get it? And being accessible to people who just like a good story and good characters.
“Stand in the Sun” by Elle Stephens was relatable because it’s based in a small town, similar to the area the local author and I inhabit. I will say, I like Elle’s version of a small town better. More hip stores that actually stick around. I guess that’s one of the benefits of books, is enhancing reality, right?
I also appreciated the protagonists’ struggle with anxiety. I have a wide array of people in my life who have some level of it, and have my own small experiences with it, so I found it a realistic and relatable characteristic for a person.
