- A large, cantilever sewing box made out of scrap pallet wood.
I wanted to build my wife a sewing box, but with a lot of extra storage. It's all made from recycled pallet wood.
It would also make a great box for modelmaking and art supplies.
Now I need to make another one to put all my own stuff in.

Thank god there are people like you all over the world keeping all these skills alive.🙏🏼
My grandmother had a sewing box like this one,she was a dress maker.
I thought it was so magical,I was allowed to play with it as long as I was very careful.I don't know where hers went,I've tried to find one but they are so hard to find..you brought back so many beautiful memories thank you..
man, you are absolutely unstoppable
No yammering/blabbering, no annoying music. But clear set up shots, good sound and editing and above all, craftsmanship. This deserves way more views.
Thanks :)
Way more viewers and subscribers... I mean WOW.. u sure are skillful sir..
I spent most of my career in manufacturing where pallets were a part of daily life. To see what you do with them after their so-called "useful life" is over is amazing and so gratifying.
Thanks very much, Joe :)
I pretty much think this is the beginning of their true "useful life" right there :D:D
@@The-Weekend-Warrior absolutely correct.
I appreciate you sharing that .
If I was given a sewing "box" anywhere near this nice and expansive my mind would explode! The convenience and adaptability of this set up is crucial to keeping sewing enjoyable in my opinion.
Oh boy she's a lucky lady. 😊
Thanks Nonya :)
She sure is! My mind would have exploded too!! What a beautiful gift!
@@NonyaSmith I don’t see but if I did I would love this piece of equipment ❤️💙🐶🇺🇸
That is sew
i never make comments on youtube, but i had to say it.
you sir, are a true artist!
Thanks very much, Nikos :)
I sew, I quilt, I'm jealous of your wife!
As a sewer and quilter, I would love love LOVE to have a sewing box like that! Amazing work, as always! Wish I could give you more than just one thumbs up. :)
Thanks very much :)
@@ee8245 My heart beat faster when I saw it at the end! I would love one for my knitting and sewing supplies....!
@@ee8245 I asked that same question but he just builds for the enjoyment and doesn’t sell them (shame though)
@@mikparker2572 did you ask if the plans are for sale?
@@TimothyONeill_84. I figure it’s better for your soul to just watch the video and try to make one for yourself, that’s what I’m gonna do
Oh mate, I can't think of a lovelier gift for a fellow crafter. I am sure your wife was thrilled with your skill and thoughtfulness.
Thanks. She was very happy with it :)
It would have been nice to see your wife's reaction when you gave her this gift.
When my father was in junior college he made a cedar chest about 4 ft long, 2 ft deep and 20 in high. It is a treasured possession of mine that I store quilts in. When my grandfather died he gave up woodworking to run the family farm but would occasionally make small things. He would have disappeared into your workshop and never come out again.
Wow! It’s the project that keeps on growing, but each new step was an “aha” moment. Great job! 👍
Thanks very much, Chris :)
You truly are a blessing to your wife! God bless you both always!
Beautiful work as always. I don’t know any woman that wouldn’t love that.
Thanks Momo :)
I’m a man that would love this box for leatherwork.
I sew and I'm constantly frustrated by boxes like that being way to small for all my 'sewing needs'.
I just keep everything in a big old plastic box.
This one looks marvelous!
I’m a woman who doesn’t know how to sew, but I can think of several hobbies that could use this type of storage. It’s absolutely beautiful!
I am an amateur tailor and I find this box to be very well thought out. It could also be used for a few other crafts such as leather work, beading, jewelry, possible even custom fishing lures.
That petite tool box just exploded. Can't imagine the look on the face of the recipient when she's opening that Pandora's drawer by drawer. Just mad respect for u Uncle Upcycle
I have stacks of sewing projects lined up and my excuse is always that I need my stuff organized first. Now that I'm learning carpentry, maybe I should make one of these. One of the first things I made when I had an interest in woodworking, was a tool rack for my small apartment where I would have all my tools at hand when I needed them and then I made a tool box in carpentry class. So no excuses for delaying any woodworking projects. 😉
Sir you have some mad skills! You capture my attention every time. Just wow.
Thanks :)
There are sewing boxes and then there are sewing boxes. This is a sewing box if I've ever seen one! Wow. Seriously ultimate in terms of cantilever-ing storage. Great work. Loving the gleam that the Briwax gives to everything - you can really see it in the fold out montages, the light glints nicely off of all the wood. And really enjoyed the use of the two tones for the handles/cantilevers against the dark-stained body. Lovely project once again!
Thanks very much, Andrew :)
There just is no way you could find anything this beautiful or as well made like this, on the market! I find it humorous that the lady has every space occupied in this beautiful sewing box!
Thanks for the comments :)
Your wife is so lucky, tell her i'm jealous of this absolutely stunning sewing box 😊
As always i'm amazed with your talent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Greetings from Portugal
Thanks very much, Marie :)
@@EpicUpCycling you're welcome 😊
Excuse me BUT carpentry is my hobby🤷♂️🤨👍being a seamstress is my full time job🤷♂️🤭😮😆😅
Beautiful.
I've just discovered your channel and I'm watching your builds back to back at the moment. The problem is that I'm running out of words to convey what I think and feel about your work!!
You have a fantastic eye for design and every video I watch is more amazing then the last and it's all done with pallets!!! I'd love to have half the skill you have 👍
Thanks very much, Glen. Glad you're enjoying the channel :)
I love the old tools he is using. Doesn't explain the tools, or talk about them, doesn't explain what he is doing or why, he just does his job quietly and you watch and learn. I love that old radial arm saw, I miss the one my dad had. It has a quality of use that a compound miter saw doesn't have....long cuts in minimal space.
Thanks for the comments, Boyd :)
Wow what a fabulous gift for your special lady, she must be absolutely over the moon with her new sawing box, although sawing box hardly covers the huge delight you have made for her. It is absolutely amazing, and very beautiful, I’m sure she loves it more, because you made it for her. TYFS such an epic video. 🎅🏻☃️🎄🎅🏻☃️🎄🎅🏻☃️🎄
Thanks very much, Elaine. Yes she was very happy with it :)
I would burst in tears if a gift like this one was given , to a wonderful man, congratulations!!!!!!! A work of art
Sir, you are a woodworking genius! That is love, in every meaning of the word, to make that for your wife! And for me, it would be great to store everything I have for guitar repair, both tools and parts! A fantastic job all the way!
Thanks very much :)
Not a single word. This guy speaks volumes with his abilities. I am in awe.
Fantastic! Good to see the carved mallet made an appearance 👍🍺
Thanks Drunk Dunc, yeah I thought I'd better make use of it :)
VERY NICE, your wife must be head over heels with your gift to her.
I discovered your channel 3 days ago and I hardly stop to watch since. (Please don't tell my boss !)
Still I made a mistake with showing your work to my wife. Now she figures I could do the same. I told her to ask again after 10 years of training. As if it could be enough...
This is a sewing box!!!!! Beautiful and functional. That best is that you made it out of pallets.
Thanks :)
Absolutely fantastic! ❤
When I was a young woman, I made most of my clothes, and this layered sewingbox would have been used all the time.
Nowadays, my grandkids (and kids!) wants everything store-bought... *sigh*
You are a very talented man, and I love watching your channel!
Thanks very much :)
Amazing skills, Glued to screen.
Oh my that’s a beautiful piece I can just see that in my work room your wife is one very very lucky woman 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thanks Angela :)
Again, ''BEAUTIFUL'' More than a few minutes of thought put into pulling off that little gem and heirloom. Guaranteed the Little Lady of the house will enjoy that little addition for every living day of her life...Those are the keepsakes that exceed our time on earth but display our character and pride for many future generations thereafter..
Thanks for the comments :)
Sir, you are seriously going to get me in trouble. I bought my wife a cantilevered sewing box. But that sir is a seamstress' dream. A sewing box on steroids. You, sir, are amazing.
O my goodness that is the snap-on of sewing boxes. Absolutely beautymas.
Thanks Tracy :)
There are many "pallet wood reclaimed" channel on RUclips but your idea of re-use is in another (very high) level.
Congratulations.
Greetings from Buenos Aires - Argentina
Thanks very much, Guillermo. Greetings from the UK :)
Something so simple like pallet wood used to make something so beautiful. You amaze me with every item you make.
Thanks :)
As someone who both sews and quilts, I am totally in love with this! Amazing job! 💜
Thanks Tracey :)
It is without a doubt the Best Sewing Box I have Ever seen bar none.
In no particular order:
Others: use 57 clamps
Epic: two boards, two clamps, wedges. Also, inexplicably large c-clamp on the wall.
Once again, I love that you let the work speak for itself instead of talking the whole video.
Gorgeous work. I love that you make each piece as beautiful as it is well made.
Cargo shorts forever!
Thanks Andrea :)
Your wife is a very lucky woman!! Thank you for sharing your vision and talent!
Thanks Regina :)
Aww, my grandad made one of these for my grandma. I'd forgotten about it until this video. Thanks for the memory. ♥️
Thanks Tricia :)
Beautiful! What a treasure. Mechanics tools, sewing, art supplies, wonderful craftsmanship.
Thanks Sharon :)
I am positively speechless! This is so wonderful. I am absolutely mad with envy
Thanks Ali :)
That is the Mother of all sewing boxes !!!!! Oh how I wish it was mine
Thanks H M :)
In addition to other remarks here I would add that you are an excellent storyteller. These videos are tightly edited, can easily be followed, and are even done without a bunch of wordjam. Thanks!
Thanks Jimme :)
Oh, I love this!!! I really need one. My plastic Flambeau fishing tackle box cannot hold my sewing supplies. This is very cool.
Your wife is a lucky woman. Thank you for the great model!!!
The things you can do with humble 'junk' pallet timber is both amazing and inspiring. I'm a fan and admirer for life. May you continue to wow the world with your craft, creations and most importantly your sustainability message. Utterly speechless.
Thanks very much :)
I need one of these in my life for sticker and washi storage. Beautiful work of art.
Thanks :)
You, my friend, have a god-given talent...those joints are tighter than a cork from a 1927 vintage of Veuve Clicquot! Absolutely beautiful work. Best to you and be well.
Thanks Dr. Skip :)
Spectacular! Every crafter needs one of these.
unbelievable, the tolerances in which you work in. Almost as if you wont need glue to keep them together ! You are an amazing craftsman !
Thanks very much, Jose :)
Wow. You're wife must be overjoyed. It's beautiful. I would love to own one.
I'm addicted to your channel.. Awesome work
Thanks :)
*This is fantastic* 😍
*I have a similar sewing box, this upper fold-out part*
*in the mini version of course* 🤭
*Very practical and useful, inherited from my mother* 😉👍
As a sewer I would absolutely love this ❤. You are so talented and your wife is a very lucky lady. 😊
I love this design, it was very thoughtful. Plenty of storage and gorgeous as well!
Thanks very much :)
What an awesome, beautiful gift you made for your wife. I know she will use and treasure it for years to come.
Amazing work! You're so meticulous in your art...staggers the imagination. As a sewer and quilter, this would be cherished for its usefulness as well as its workmanship, for at least the next 500 years. Thank you for sharing! I feel like I got a gift, too!😍❣
Thanks very much :)
Wow, that's a nice box. The layout makes it useful to store a variety of items.
I am so relaxed watching you work. The craftsmanship in your work makes it look so easy when knowing at the same time its not. Glad I found this channel. Keep up the great work!
Thanks very much, Westley :)
You sir have a brain for detail. The ordinary sewing box taken to new heights. Very impressed
Thanks ollyburger :)
What a tremendous work of art! That is a masterful creation, an absolute heirloom.

Seriously ..... One of the best projects on YT. Awesome .

Great job. Always a pleasure seeing your work. Inspiring and educational. That is an epic upcycle.
Thanks Stephanie :)
Beautiful and functionable, your wife is lucky.
I am in awe of your skill and artistry. The care and attention to detail you display in your work is a joy to watch. I am enjoying the work you have posted so far and look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future. When you can watch videos displaying skills like this, who the hell needs brain dead television?
Thanks for the comments, Julia :)
Lucky wifey! Epic, I’ll say! Your skills, this sewing box, and your workshop… Epic!
And I have to thank you for not playing annoying music that makes me want to jump on my sound control to shut it off! 😊
Thanks very much :)
Somehow that box seem to hold more stuff than what would fit into an empty container of the same volume! Great job! (As always)
Thanks Stefan :)
i watch most of your videos on the tv so im unable to comment...but... i am amazed, your work is unbelieveable... the best... thank you
Thanks very much, Ron :)
Another Jewel to add to your collection, you are an extremely talented craftsman, your project are getting bolder and with the same attention to detail, it's always a pleasure to watch you work and create such beautiful pieces, keep up your great work, take care and best wishes 👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Thanks very much, Chantal :)
A box worthy of a queen!
I can only say, TOP! Greetings from a woman from Austria! In my next life I also want to be such a skilled carpenter like you ;)
Thanks very much, Esther :)
Epic UpCycling Jason I was wondering if you are a general carpenter by trade or cabinet maker and if iwoodworking is something that runs in the family?
Me tocó. From Madrid, Spain
@@drunkdunc8738 I'm not a carpenter by trade, but it's something I've been doing all my life. Everyone in my family makes things out of one material or another
Epic UpCycling 😮amazing , cheers to that🍺
This is incredible. the art of carpentry at its best; it doesn't get more creative than this.
Thanks :)
Wow, I'd love one of these for my weaving supplies. Currently my shuttles and bobbins and all the other bits and bobs are in a cardboard shoe box that doesn't close properly, and I lose my hemstitching needle every time I want it, and the beeswax is never where I expect it to be.... Und so weiter! This would sit next to my weaving bench and I'd have everything to hand. It's so much better than the standard cantilevered boxes because of the drawers underneath. And the "carousel" trays are a marvellous idea. You've done a good job on both design and execution 😀😁😀. Greetings from Kent, UK!
Thanks very much, Katherine. Greetings from East Yorkshire :)
im glad you show your clamps and fixtures. workholding is something i struggle at.
You've excelled yourself with this project! Absolutely brilliant 👌
Thanks Samantha :)
As usual you do not disappoint! Your work makes me yearn for another time...a different era. Love to watch you weave your magic! Do continue! Please!!!
Thanks very much, Lisalyn :)
Very impressive as always! I absolutely love watching you turn something so rough (pallets) into something so elegant and refined. Your craftsmanship is something to be admired. Every move seems to have a purpose, please keep the projects coming during COVID I need these!
Thanks Dane. Hoping to have another video out before Christmas :)
Your wife is one lucky lady! I would pay lots for one!
You're like mymechanics of wood on RUclips, Amazing work and you're by far the best wood magician here, keep these videos coming :)
Thanks very much, Lucas :)
Was thinking the exact same thing while watching this.
Utterly brilliant, beautiful!! A work of exceptional elegance
Anyone who has sown, sews, or might sew looks at that box with loving, envious eyes. Have you made something for Mrs. Epic to keep her thread in?
Thanks Mary. Yes, it was for Mrs Epic :)
This by far is one of my favorite pieces that you have made.
You had me at "cantilever"...
What a lucky woman Mrs Epic is ! A true labor of love, for the materials and your wife 😎🇫🇷❤️
Thanks Christine :)
Beautiful work as always. How do you keep your edge-glued boards from sticking too much to the bench from squeeze-out? Seems like they come loose with little to no effort. Was wondering if there is a layer of acrylic or maybe something else on your glue-up bench. Thanks!
Nothing special on the bench, I just rub it down with old candle wax before glue up and not a lot sticks to it :)
You keep making and I'll keep watching. Sensational!
In 1945, my father made a solid walnut table with two drawers. It has received constant use for the last 75 years. Now there are two deep grooves where the wooden drawers slide over wooden frame of the table. I noticed that your trunk has wood sliding on wood.
I've been thinking of what to do about my father's table. My favored approach currently would be to install polished brass bars in the frame and put Teflon strips, to slide over them, on the drawers.
Your father's table lasted 75 years of constant use... I'd call that a success! Why change what works, just repair what needs repairing and keep it original.
I love your plans of a wooden article from recycled material!.....you are a master craftsman and artist!....this reminds me of a small cabinet my grandmother used for buttons and trims! Needless to say brought back many a fond memory!....thank youL
Thanks Pamala, glad you enjoyed it :)
Thank you for answering my questions so quickly, really appreciate that! If I have not subscribed will do so now?!
How many compartments do you want?
Epic UpCycling: Yes.
I am blown away! This is superb craftsmanship.
Thank you :)
Awesome stuff.
You sew also? Or is that Mrs. Epic's thing? Either way, great job once again sir, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Pete. I do the odd bit of sewing bit this was for Mrs Epic :)
What a lovely box! I am glad for a woman who has received such beauty! With admiration, from Russia.
Thanks very much :)
What i want to know is why people shit on using reclaimed pallet wood. It is still wood people.
